i was wondering...if kuroyuri from the black hawks is a girl or a boy??
i found kuroyuri in a raw chapter wearing a dress but it still bothers me D:
aaw i love that chapter (though i didn't understand a single word since i can't read japanese xD) but this chapter shows when haruse and kuroyuri met ;D
it's so funny x'D sorry a bit out of topic o:

Well, I'm pretty sure that Kuroyuri is a boy. Aren't there many anime characters that look like girls but are actually boys? And there doesn't seem to be many girls in the military too.

Kuroyuri (クロユリ, Kuroyuri?) Voiced by: Chiwa Saito
The youngest of Ayanami's subordinates, Kuroyuri often goes on missions with Haruse. She/he is fanatically devoted to Ayanami and hates the Ghosts (particularly Frau, since she/he sees Frau using Verloren's scythe). She/he seems to make a hobby of killing people she/he doesn't like and otherwise making things gory, as seen when Kuroyuri sits on mountains of corpses, mutilates bodies, and frequently asks for permission to kill people that annoys him/her. She/He seems to have a strong relationship with Haruse.
Kuroyuri's gender is actually a point of contention in the manga, and is marked as "unknown" in the official anime fanbook . In an omake, Konatsu asks for an answer to which Kuroyuri's response is that it's a secret. When Hyuuga prods him/her again for an answer, Kuroyuri asks "Do you want to die?". In the anime profiles, Kuroyuri is noted to wear his/her hair like a woman's (a woman's braid), but his/her gender is unknown. In the manga and anime, Kuroyuri refers to his/herself as "boku", which is a form of "I" used by younger boys and tomboys in Japan. Kuroyuri also seems to be bad at cooking. In volume 2's omake, Kuroyuri cooked Sashimi with strawberry jam, eggs with chocolate and a bluish food, which causes the Black Hawks members (except Konatsu) to faint dead after they've eaten it. Later it is revealed in the manga that he/she was poisoned when he/she was a kid, and although he/she survived, his/her taste was lost.
His/her birthday is the 25th of September.
In Japanese, dark/black is pronounced as kuro, and lily is pronounced as yuri.
Wikipedia doesn't specify, but I believe it is a boy, as Lena said, there are no girls in the military. xD The time setting would seem like they wouldn't allow girls in the military, also.

Maybe its just one of those special feminine(sp?) looking boys? I see those in anime/manga a lot...
It seems like there really aren't any females in the military to me. Maybe they have a separate school for girls only? Cause they do all bunk together right? In the anime you saw a room full of bunk-beds but then again you only see Teito and Mikage....
For the dress.....um.. a nightgown? XD in another anime/manga theres a boy that wore a nightgown(dress?) a lot.
