Kiko grew up as the village reject.

He was orphaned days after his birth and was raised by a man who pitied him but then left him when he turned twelve. He took residence in the man’s house and he lives there alone even now. Yet, instead of turning into one of those depressed troublemakers, he tried acting like any other boy in the village. He laughed and smiled, even when the other children made fun of him and picked on him. Everyone called him a 'demon', even though he looked just like them. Kiko tried his best to do what everyone wanted, just so he could fulfill his wish: to be wanted and needed.

Not far from the village, within the forest, lives Ryuu, a strange creature who is said to feed on the flesh of humans. A beast in human form who can call up the shadows to do his bidding - the villagers say. The man ignores the gossip talk and lives alone in his manor deep within the forest that surrounds the village. Believing that humans have lost their ways and become insolent fools, he does not venture to their village - as if he loathes humans. Yet he will not attack a human unless it is to protect himself and he does not feed on humans. Secretly though he wants to wants to protect someone precious to him and to be wanted by them.

These two, different by personality and time, share a single thing in common. One could say what happened next was close to fate... or destiny. While hanging out with some boys, Kiko gets dared to sneak over the wall of Ryuu's manor and take one of the rare black and blue-tipped roses that grow only in the man’s garden. Kiko doesn’t want to do it but the boys convince him that, if he does, they will be his friend.

This is where our story begins.

When Kiko agreed to come along, he didn‘t know what he would be getting into. If he had known, he would have just stayed at home. He and three other boys stood outside a tall, vine-covered brick wall, looking up at it. The other three boys were nearly a year older than Kiko, two of them bulkier than him while the other was only taller. Kiko was smaller than them, with blond hair and pale blue-green eyes. He looked much different from the others.

“All right, Kiko, it‘s time to see if your brave enough to join us.” Said one of the bulky boys; a dark haired male with his usual smirk curving his lips.

Kiko looked up at the wall, his blond brows furrowing as he said, “But, Anton, isn‘t this the place where the demon is supposed to live?”

The dark haired teen, Anton, nodded, looking up at the wall as well. “Yep. This be the place.” He leaned closer to Kiko, his voice dropping to a near whisper. “They say he‘s a demon who eats people who venture into the forest at night.”

“Yeah,” One of the other boys said, nodding his head. “I heard me Pa talkin’ ’bout it. Some hunter’s found a man dead, his skin cut clean off and hangin’ from a tree nearby. His insides were missin’ too, like he’d been gutted like a deer.” He said. “It happened not far from the village, just past the lil’ stream near here.”

Kiko couldn’t deny how scary that sounded. He’d heard rumors of the supposed demon who lived here. They were popular around the village as of late. Though, whether or not any of them were true, he did not know. And he didn’t want to find out. He swallowed, looking away from the wall to the boy who stood by him. “Then, if this is where the demon lives, why are we here?”

“It’s like I told you, Kiko.” Anton said, smirking as he turned to look at Kiko. “You have to prove if your ready to be with us. You have to go over this wall and sneak into the demons garden and get a blue and black rose. Bring it back here once you got it.”

“Then… you will be my friend?” Kiko asked hopeful as he looked at the other two. All three boys nodded, saying “Yeah, sure. We’ll be your friend.”

“But you have to go get that flower first.” said Anton.

Kiko looked up at the wall again, worried. He really didn‘t want to trespass onto someone else‘s property. If this wall was here, it was meant to keep people out. But, the chance to be friends with Anton and the others was too tempting. All he had to do was get that flower and then, they would be friends. He nodded his head once, “Okay. I‘ll do it.” He said, now determined. The three boys beside him smirked, softly chuckling to themselves. Kiko didn‘t pay them much attention and, instead, went over to the wall, trying to find a good spot to climb up. After a moment of pulling on the vines, he found that a few of them were strong enough and he began climbing up them. It was a little difficult but Kiko managed it. He climbed all the way over, reaching about half-way down on the other side when he let go and jumped down. For a moment, he stood there, being very quiet as he turned around to look at his surroundings.

As the stories went, there was a very large house behind these walls. Very large and very old, probably older than most of the buildings in the village. But, there was something different about it. Unlike what the stories said, the house wasn‘t scary. It just looked… old. Old with a strange feeling surrounding it. But certainly not scary.

Taking a quick glance look around, Kiko started walked, keeping near the wall as he searched for the garden. He was quiet as he crept through the yard, worried that he might be caught by who ever lived here.

It was the landing that caught his attention. The small noise produced from landing from such a high height aroused the owner of the ancient house. Eyes with icy blue irises fluttered open and shut closed a couple times to focus the owner's vision. Lips parted in a quiet sigh, as the owner of the manor sat up with little noise. "What are those rotten children up to now," came the raspy, grumpy mutter. Swinging his feet off the medium-sized bed, a blond male, who was not passed the sturdy age of twenty-five stood up. This man was definitely much wiser than his years.

This man was know as a demon, a monster, an unsightly creature to the people of the village close by. If only they knew the good deeds he did for them. If it wasn't for him the village would be in ruins. Eyes gained a dark look when a couple thoughts flashed in his mind. No matter what they would say, think, or accuse he will dutifully continue his good deeds. His heroic actions would go unnoticed, but he would prefer it that way. He didn't not take favor to humans, he found them rather annoying and pesky. Those weak little creatures always involved themselves in things that did not require their intervention. "Like children," he scoffed.

Walking towards his kitchen, he listened closely for anymore movement. His mind commanded his body to grab his bow and arrow. Deciding that it would be a good way to frighten those rotten kids, he complied with demands of his mind. The man's movements were silent as the still night, it almost seemed as if no one resided in this old manor. The weapon in hand, the quiet man walked toward his kitchen and looked at the window above his sink.

"Oh, what do we have here," he asked himself. This blond hair child had never crossed into his property before. This small human was new, but no different from the others. He had trespassed into his land so he would be the first to pay the consequences he was instilling. Lifting his weapon, he aimed at the weak human.

Now just to be clear the owner was not going to shoot the poor child. No, never. Just scrape him or barely miss the human. All he wanted was to scare the human off not kill the poor boy. His reputation was already tainted. His position seemed paralyzed for he could not release the string of his deadly weapon. His mind urged him to just pause and observe the pesky little thing. 'If he takes nothing and leaves within the next couple minutes, I will let him go scathe free. If not, he will be the first to face my first punishment for trespassing' were the male's thoughts as he lowered his armed weapon.

Leaning over the sink, he watched with slightly amused eyes. The blond man's annoyance was much more aroused than his amusement. His childish reason was only because this thing woke him from his peaceful slumber. Setting his elbows on the counter, the male lowered his chin on his palm and watched the boy with a blank mask.

Not knowing he was being watched, the blond teen kept walking by the wall, following it as he searched for the gardens. The moon was full tonight, which gave him enough light to see, though there were still shadows around him. When they left the village, the sun had just set. Everyone always said it was dangerous to walk in the forest at night. There were wolves, bears and demons roaming everywhere, along with other dangers.

Kiko had been heard many stories about the forest that surrounded the village. While some of them frightened him, others tugged at his curiosity. Part of him wanted to explore the forest, go a little farther than the hunters ever had. But, he never did. He remained in the village and always followed after the children, wanting to become friends with them. Speaking of which, he wondered about the boys waiting for him at the wall.

Anton was a popular boy in his village. He always seemed to be able to draw people to him - a quality that Kiko admired. He wanted to be friends with the boy, ever since he was little. But all his efforts were wasted. Anton always went along with the other boys and picked on him. Sometimes even beating him up. Still, Kiko tried being friends with him. It was foolish to keep trying, he knew that. He did it anyway, always hoping Anton would change his mind and see that he was worthy to be his friend.

That was why he was sneaking onto this man‘s property. If he got the rose, he would have his wish fulfilled. Anton would be his friend and, if Anton was his friend, other people would be his friend as well. Perhaps then, the village would see him - really see him.

When he found the garden, he discovered it was close to the house. Quietly, Kiko walked towards it, entering it by going under a vine-covered archway. It must have been made of some sort of iron, though with the twisting and curling vines surround it, it was difficult to tell. Inside, there were many different kinds of flowers and plants. Even in the moonlight, he could see how beautiful they were. There was a pathway that snaked it’s way through the flower beds and bushes, probably leading to the other side were vegetables probably grew. It was simply beautiful.

No one of ill will could make plants grow this beautifully. It took a good soul to make flowers grow as large and beautiful as these, to make plants become tall and fruitful as these were. No evil or wicked soul could accomplish this. It was a naïve thought, but Kiko believed it. He glanced up at the house, smiling softly, 'No, the village must be wrong. A monster wouldn’t be able to keep a beautiful garden like this.'

Then, remembering his task, Kiko began looking for the blue and black rose. He scanned the bushes, searching for the rare flower that only grew here. There were all sorts of flowers here but none of them blue or black. For a while, Kiko feared he wouldn‘t be able to find it. He had to find it. If he returned to Anton and the others empty handed, they wouldn‘t be friends with him.

While scanning, his eyes caught something blue and he turned, seeing the flower he had been searching for. It growing on a small bush, tucked between a bush of yellow and white/pink roses. Breathing out a sigh of relief, Kiko crouched down in front of it, smiling softly as he looked it. The rose was indeed beautiful, even if it‘s petals were closed for the night. Slowly, he reached out and gently touched one of it‘s soft petals. His fingers shifted down to the steam of the rose and he about to pick when he stopped.

Was this right? This was considered stealing and he didn‘t want to steal. That wasn‘t the kind of person he was. He‘d already trespassed onto someone else‘s property; was he really prepared to steal from them as well? But, this flower… by taking it, it meant the possibility of finally being around someone who wanted him there. To have friends and to be around people who cared. It was something he‘d wished for as long as he could remember.

Though, was it really worth it?

Slowly, his hand withdrew and he stood up, staring at the flower. “Am I that selfish?” He asked himself softly. He couldn’t take this flower, or any other kind of flower from this place. Kiko sighed softly then lifted his head, his eyes drifting up to a window that he hadn’t noticed before. There also seemed to be someone inside as well, though Kiko couldn’t make out the face. He stilled, staring at the man (he could tell that much at least) for a long moment. He had been caught and, even though that sent a bolt of fear through him, he was also curious about the man. He wanted to see the man who had grown this garden.

The owner of the mansion stood positively still as he observed the odd trespasser. His gut was telling him to watch and observe the behavior of this one. Pay close attention and see the difference. As if hearing the wise words the blond male did as told. Watching him walk toward the direction of his garden, the owner gathered some information. The obvious fact was that this boy was different from the other runts. The first give away was the way he walked. It didn't seem troublesome and mischievous, it was more in the un-confident section. His body language told the male he was a bit unsure of this whole thing. At least the boy possessed a conscious.

It didn't take long for the male to find one his precious roses. From the view he seemed awe struck by the beauty. Not one to brag, but he was quite proud of children. Yes, his flowers to him were his children. They needed to cared for and loved or else they would not grow into the beauties they are now. It took a lot of work but the result was worth every single bead of sweat. The male's eyes took on tender look as he stared at the flowers he grew himself. His garden was his most prized possession.

His hand instantly settled itself on the wooden handle of his bow. The boy was going to take his rose. Well not while he was watching. Keeping an eye on the boy he lifted it the dangerous weapon, though his movements halted once again. The blond boy was stopping his robbery. Green eyes narrowed in suspicion. Was he plotting something more grand? Lips pursed themselves in annoyance. Why couldn't the boy deem this as a wrong decision and quickly leave. The patience the mansion owner posses was running unusually thin tonight.

His thoughts flew for a moment, giving him enough time to realize he was caught. His hand set down the bow and stared back the intruder. A consequence of losing yourself inside the mind. It makes you the most oblivious person in the world. His presence had been seen, what was he to do? Well it was polite to introduce yourself to guest, but this newcomer was exactly classified as a guest in his mind. None the less, he should make himself present and ask what he was doing on his land. It was the most common thing to do.

Stepping outside his mansion, he looked at the boy silently. His face was still hidden by the shadows the house cast over his face. "Why did you trespass into my land," he asked with a blunt tone. No use in beating around the bush.
PostPosted: Fri Jan 08, 2010 9:22 pm

Oh no, what had he gotten himself into?

Kiko could tell, from the way the man spoke, that he was in trouble. Well, of course he was. He had been caught trespassing. For a moment, Kiko‘s mind ran blank. He wasn‘t sure what he should do. His instincts were tell him to run away, make a break for the wall and pray this man wasn‘t faster than him. Than again, that‘s just what a guilty, unrespectable man would do. Was he guilty? Yes, but he held onto his self-respect. He wasn‘t a coward. That was not the way he had been raised.

“Please forgive me, sir.” Kiko bowed slightly, inclining forward at the waist with his head bowed to this man. “My name is Kiko… I come from the nearby village and… well, I am terribly sorry for coming onto your land without permission.” His words sounded a little rushed but they were sincere. He did feel bad for doing this. Not because he had gotten caught but because he almost went through with it. There must be a more honorable way to make friends with Anton and the others. He couldn’t go around, trespassing and stealing things. That was just wrong and it would only give the village more to talk about. Kiko’s name was already smeared; he didn’t want it ruined anymore by actually doing some of the things they whispered about.

He glanced up at the man, seeing that his face was still hidden by shadow. But, from what he could see, the man was indeed human. Or, at least he looked human. He certainly didn’t have the appearance of a demon or of anything else the village said. Perhaps he wasn’t as they said. Though, right now was not the time to be curious.

His blue-green eyes shifted down, away from the man. He still had to answer the man‘s question. “I… I was dared to come in here… to your garden and… take one of your roses.” He confessed softly, feeling very ashamed now. Now that he admitted his crime, he felt worse. “I am very sorry, sir.”

He looked very frightened.

That was the first thought to registrar in his mind. The shorter looked like a deer in headlight for just a quick moment. Was he that frightening? It seemed so. Well he was a deadly man, so the feeling probably stuck around. Hands slid themselves inside his pant's pockets. His eyes gazing back the boy's eyes. He blinked before letting his vision stray off to his garden. At least he didn't ruin anything. His garden was safe, so no ill feelings were directed toward the boy.

Eyes slid back toward the young boy as he began to speak. Well more like ramble. Ears caught each and every word. This was boy was respectful and seemed have a good head on his shoulders. Unlike those other rowdy children. "Your apologizes are kindly accepted," he responded with blank tone. Many years of hiding his emotions had caused him to just everything about him. It was a habit that just stuck. Like gum to hair. Really difficult to rid of.

The mansion owner stepped away from the shadows of his home and revealed himself. "May I ask why you came into my land," he asked politely. His mind was rather curious as to why this weak looking boy would dare enter his territory. The rumors in the village were enough to keep the adults away. It surely did a number on the kids. The young adults not so much. Their curiosity and rebellious trait were far to grand to handle.

"From my view it seemed as if you wanted to steal one of my precious roses,"
he stated, " though it seemed your conscious brought you to your senses." Now he was just stating his assumptions. The older male still wanted to hear the younger boy's side of the story. What justice would be served if he only went by assumption? Absolutely none. Misunderstanding very easy to cause. "Please do not feel pressured by questions," he informed, " I am just a curious...man." He certainly was not lying when he stated that he was curious. Most often when he was young his curiosity got the best of him. It landed him in some quite difficult situations. None of which he regrets. He learned his lesson fair and square.

Now was he telling the truth about the whole man deal? No. Was he a human? No. That much he could admit, anything past that was confidential. He could not reveal his true nature to this human. His true nature must remain a secret from the village. If they were to find about his true species, it would cause a wild uproar. Just thinking of that caused shivers of fear to cling to his spine.

The beautiful moon beautifully lightened his land. As he waited for the other to respond he took a good look at the other. He was small, and looked a bit weak. His eyes didn't have a happy gleam in them. No, they looked sad, alone, unhappy. "I'd also like the permission of knowing your name, if you would allow," he stated. This boy seem...no he was different.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 11, 2010 9:07 pm

Kiko straightened and he looked up at the man. He still couldn‘t see his face, but he supposed he didn‘t have to. Already, he had the assumption that this man wasn‘t all that bad. He couldn‘t be, not if he grew flowers this beautifully. Though, absence of emotion in his voice made the teen feel a little unnerved. It was like the man was dead… no, not dead. Just deprived of emotion. It was strange; he had never heard anyone speak like that before. Kiko wondered if the man always talked like that, or was this just a front that he was putting up? A mask to hide himself.

When the man came out, Kiko had to admit he felt a little better now that he saw the man‘s face. He was blond haired, an almost golden color but lighter. Golden silk. Perhaps that’s what it looks like. It looked soft enough to be like silk. Because of the darkness, he couldn’t see what color the man’s eyes were but he supposed they matched his complexion nicely. Of course, how could he really stand here and try to describe someone? This wasn’t the time to do that.

The boy nodded, “Yes sir. I was dared to come to your garden and take one of your roses.” He said, speaking a little slower so his words weren‘t rushed. “But I‘m not going to anymore. I can‘t take something that isn‘t mine… and it‘s so beautiful right where it is.” His gaze drifted back over to the blue and black rose, admiring it in the pale moonlight. It really was more beautiful where it was. It would have been cruel to take it away from it‘s home.

No one liked being removed from their home. Kiko wouldn’t want to have that happen to him so by what right did he have to do it? He couldn’t. He just simply couldn’t. However, he knew that flower was probably his one way to be friends with Anton and the others. If he didn‘t return with it, would they still be his friend? He could just tell them that he‘d met the man who lived here. He could tell that that the village was wrong and that he wasn‘t a monster.

Kiko looked up at the man once more, now able to see him a little better now that the moon brightened a little. No. He wasn‘t a monster. He couldn‘t be.

The teen shifted slightly though didn't look frightened or unnerved as he had earlier. He still felt ashamed that he had actually thought about stealing but he felt better know this man had forgiven him. That was important. If the man hadn't forgiven him, Kiko figured he would have to apologize or perhaps do something to make it up to him. At least, that's what he always did in the village. Whenever the villagers blamed something on him, he would just apologize and try to do his best to make it up to them. That was the way Mister Leeto had raised him so that was the way he had to live.

"My name...?" He repeated, thinking that he'd already told the man his name. Perhaps he didn't hear him. He HAD been rambling when he introduced himself. "My name is Kiko, sir." He smiled softly as he looked at the man. "May I ask what your name is?" It was only fair, right?

"My name is Ryuu and I am the owner of this land," the male stated with air of confidence. The younger boy's name kept swirling in his mind. He had never heard of that name before, he had to admit it was unique. Ryuu shifted, leaning his weight on his right foot. His mind slightly wondered where the parent's of this teen were. They should not let their child wander into the night like this. The night was always a time of danger, one should never venture out to it unprepared. Deadly consequences would only await you. All this comes from personal experience, the days were he was innocent and arrogant.

"Don't you think it is a bit dangerous to be out here by yourself," he asked with arched eyebrow. The boy really didn't look like he could hold out into a fight. Not to be rude or judgmental but he clearly looked the peaceful type of guy, not those violent savage kind of men. Never associate yourself with those type of people, they only bring trouble. "Your parents are probably worried." This child had parents right? Every human being did, even though some didn't like acknowledge that face for unknown reasons.

The male looked around and weighed his options. He was trying to decided he should walk the boy back to the safety of the village or just shoo him off. His mind pointed out the cons and pros. In the end the good civilian inside of him beat the lazy non caring side. Ryuu unfolded his arms and ran a hand through his long hair. "If you would prefer I could walk you to the outskirts of the village," he offered. That is all he would go. Any further would only cause him trouble. His mind already different kinds of scenarios that could play out if the villagers saw him.

All they would do is cause him major unnecessary headache. That would only be a hindrance to his missions. When he left on mission he needed to be in his best shape, or else the prey would definitely use his weakness against him. Those demons will try to do anything to escape he thought bitterly. Sky colored orbs drifted themselves to his garden. Ryuu lost himself for a second, memories swarmed into his mind as he remembered about the one person who taught how to grow such beauties.
PostPosted: Wed Jan 13, 2010 1:58 pm

Ryuu... what a strange sounding name. Was it foreign? It had to be; there was no one in the village by that name. Though, Kiko had to admit that he did like it. Of course, he had always liked strange sounding names. Even his name wasn't common. Actually, he was the only person in his village named 'Kiko'. That always helped limit the confusion whenever he heard his name floating around. There was never any confusion actually... Kiko always knew who they were talking about. The things they said usually wasn't very nice either. "It is nice to meet you, Mister Ryuu." He said politely as he smiled. Even on times like these, he always remembered to show respect to others. That was one of Mister Leeto's lessons that always stuck with him.

When the man mentioned 'parents', Kiko's smile faded a little. "Oh... well, my parents are dead, sir. I'm quite sure they aren't worried about me." He explained, smiling softly. Not having parents wasn't exactly saddening to him. Just thinking about them reminded him of that empty space he had inside. Like something was missing, something very important that should have been there. He used to think Mister Leeto was the person who would fill that gap, but he never could. After he left, the gap just seemed to deepen as well.

At the offer, Kiko looked up at him, blinking once. "Oh, no you don't have to go through that trouble." He reassured, shaking his head. "My friends are waiting for me outside of the wall." He called them friends, even if they didn't acknowledge him. Someday, they would. Someday, Kiko knew he would prove himself worthy of their friendship. Perhaps then, the village would accept him as well. They would see that he did exist. He wasn't like they said he was.

Kiko glanced behind him, back towards the wall, shifting slightly while bring his hand up to fiddle with a loose piece of string on his shirt. He should probably get back to them soon... he didn't want them to think something had happened to him. Though, he couldn't get the flower now... Anton wouldn't like it if he returned empty-handed but there must be some other way to prove he was brave enough. After all, he would be returning from the so-called 'evil demon's lair'. Ryuu wasn't a demon and he certainly wasn't evil. Kiko knew that for certain.

"I am sorry for disturbing you." Kiko said, turning his head to look at the blond man once more. "And I am sorry for trespassing onto your land. I'll tell my friends your garden was much too beautiful to take from, so they'll understand why I don't have the rose. It's much prettier where it is." He glanced around the garden again, smiling at it's beauty. He blinked and looked at the man again. Was he taking up his time? The man must have been sleeping before this. Kiko felt that he should leave but he didn't want to be rude about it. "I should probably get going now, before my friends wander where I am. It was nice to meet you, Mister Ryuu. I hope we see each other again soon." He started to turn and walk away, feeling that he should get out of the man's hair before he got on his nerves or something. "Well... good night."

Respect. That is something the boy possessed. It was refreshing to see that not all teenagers were fall under this rebellion curse. Some of them still had some decency to respect their elders and such. Those needed to taught well so they could lead their peers in the right direction, because every adult knew they needed it. Morals were becoming corrupted in wicked ways and way of life was becoming more...unrealistic. Well that is what Ryuu believed. His thoughts would never venture our from his find for certain, for he had no one to share them with. He doubted that anyone would listen to the demon's opinion on the future generation.

Hearing that he had no parents, or well that they were deceased made his eyebrows arch. No parents yet he was this polite and well-mannered? How did that work out? He shooed the thought away, finding it too be forward to ask such a question. That was going personal, in his view. The older male nodded lightly, "Alright if you say so. I must warn you to be careful. The forest is full dangers," he said seriously. His ocean colored orbs glinting dangerously in the moonlight.

Ryuu felt his nose wrinkle at the respectful term the boy used for him. Mister. He didn't like it. It was just too polite for him, he didn't deserve it. "Ryuu, please call me that. I am not old enough to called Mr," he replied with a small nod. The blond male dropped his arms from his chest and lightly began to walk along the stone path to the garden. The moonlight did a wonderful job at enhancing the beauty of his garden. His eyes zeroed in on his precious roses. An idea prickled his mind, though he wasn't sure if to go through with it. The boy had really impressed him, he was unique than all those other brats. "You say your friends wanted a flower from my garden," he asked again, just to make sure.

Ryuu wanted to give the rose to him, but then there was the negative feeling of selfishness. He grew this garden, so the flowers belonged here. Though what the point of possessing such beauty if he was the only to witness it? Eyes closed in deep thought. A part of him did resent those villagers, but then they were only human. Those weak minded creatures could be so easily fooled. "If I were to give you a flower would care for it, like it was a part of you?" His question left his lips, before he could even process the meaning of it. His selfish side asked why the hell he should give a flower to anyone. He grew them he should be the only allowed to see them. His other side rationalized that their beauty should be seen by other people than just him. They were growing so pretty for a reason.

"I'll give you permission to take the rose of your liking only if you promise to care for it properly," he stated, while touching the soft petal of one of his roses. "You've showed me that you are different from others and much more...polite? No, a different word, though I can not think of it," he said with a lighter tone.

Oh, Kiko knew of what dangers were in the forest. He never experienced any of them but there were plenty of stories circulating the village. Tales of demons and wolves and even evil men who all resided in the forest, just waiting for some innocent to come long to gobble up. Those stories always frightened him as a child. That was why Mister Leeto told him though. If he hadn't been told those stories, he might have wandered into the forest, where a demon or goblin would get him.

"Oh, I am sorry Mis--, I mean Ryuu." That was anther thing Mister Leeto had taught him. Manners. Always respect others above you, which, in Kiko's case, were pretty much everyone. Everyone except for the boys his age and the little ones. But, anyone older than him, he had to be respectful unless they said otherwise. Which, actually Ryuu was the first. Everyone else in the village seemed to get offended if he didn't say 'Mister' or 'Miss'. Than again, anything he did seemed to offend them. But Kiko was determined to make them see. He'd show them he wasn't at all like they said he was. He was a good person and he would prove it to them.

Kiko had turned to leave but then stopped when the man spoke again. The blond teen turned, looking at Ryuu and nodded his head. "Yes, they did." He said softly. Was the man still upset about that? Kiko apologized about it and even said he wouldn't take a rose. But, he didn't seem upset. Kiko wondered why the man would bring it back up again. The blond tilted his head slightly but then straightened as he was questioned again. "Yes. I would care for it very much and I would make sure no harm came to it." It felt as if he was making a promise. A promise to the rose?

But then, the reason finally came out. Ryuu would allow him to a rose, any one of them, as long as he took care of it. Kiko smiled and nodded, "Oh yes, I will take care of it. I will treasure it and keep it close to me." He promised and, when Kiko made a promise, he meant it. He would not fail. Though, what Ryuu said next was a little confusing. He had showed the man that was different from the others? At first, Kiko thought the man had caught on, that he saw what the other villagers had seen. That fear disappeared rather quickly when he figured that wasn't the case now.

Kiko took a couple steps forward, towards the man but left appropriate space between them. His hand came up to fiddle with the collar of his shirt. "If I may, can I have one of your blue and black roses?" He asked, being as polite as he could be right now. That was the rose he came here for and he wanted to fulfill his other promise. The promise to Anton and the others.

The blond male nodded his in head in approval. "Which ever appeals to you," he murmured softly. Blue colored eyes watched Kiko for only a couple seconds, before his eyes decided to settle on the moon. The one light in his life that never seemed to fail to him. It always came out on the nights he needed its beautiful pure light. The blond haired hunter preferred the moon more than the sun, there was just a calmness the moon possessed. The sun contained something more energetic, and bright. His vision was cast upwards for a few more seconds.

A rustle in the bushes brought Ryuu from his dazed mind. His head instantly snapped toward the direction of his garden. In that instant, the male took note of his heart, which began to race, and his senses that instantly went on alert mode. Ryuu felt his knees bend in defensive manner, he needed to be prepared for anything. Just as he was about to attack the rustling came to a halt. This movement caused more suspicion to arise. What exactly was hiding inside his rose bush? His throat went dry, as many negative scenarios raced through his mind.

His blue eyes flickered over to the teenager not too far from the bush. What if the creature hiding was hunting for a midnight snack? The male was confidence in his abilities, but only when he was alone. Ryuu had taken notice that his skills sometimes plundered when anyone innocent was near. The male always reasoned with himself that it was just because he was worried, and didn't want them to get hurt. Unlike when he was alone, all he had to do was worry about himself. His mind wondered what the other was thinking? Was he scared, or curious? The bush rustled once again. Though the creatures to appear was the farthest thing from Ryuu's mind.

A small creature that only went to Ryuu's thigh crawled out. Mumbles were being spouted from the mouth. Ryuu felt a great weight lift off his shoulders when seeing a small companion of his. It was an elf. "Ryuu, I keep forgetting that your dang bushes contain thorns!" The long-eared creature exclaimed with a disgruntled tone. His eyes had still not caught on to the human next to him. The elf was too busy examining himself for any other thorns he might have missed. Ryuu grunted at his dramatic outburst. His eyes were on Kiko. Had the boy ever experienced...Ryuu felt tense, as he waited for Kiko's reaction.

Kiko smiled in thanks and he turned, his back to most of the other bushes as he looked at the roses. Ebony black, like the deepest night but held beautiful blue edges that just seemed to bring out the most beauty of the flower. There was a rumor about black roses in the village. People said they were evil and cursed. But a black rose with blue tips was special. It was said to bring good fortune in a time of misfortune. It seemed the appropriate to him.

Being very careful, he picked the delicate flower, moving a little slow as he tried not to destroy it. That was the last thing he wanted to do. He had already promised the man that he would take care of the rose so, to accidentally destroy it would be horrible. With the flower in hand, Kiko stood back up, smiling softly down at it. It seemed even more beautiful now.

A rustle in the bushes caught his attention and he looked up, his eyes going towards the noise. He glanced over at Ryuu, noticing the man looked tenser than he was before. Was this something he wasn't expecting? Something that wasn't supposed to be here? Kiko took a small step towards Ryuu but then stopped when the creature emerged. He blinked.

It wasn't a monster, but a small creature. With long, pointed ears. What was it? Or, rather, was was he? Kiko looked at the creature with curiosity. He had never seen a creature like this before. What was it? The only thing the village talked about were the monsters and demons who lived in the forest. They never spoke of beings like... well, whatever this creature was. "Ah," Kiko noticed that there were thorns and twigs sticking every which way from the little man. "Excuse me, do you need any help?"

((Haha, of course I don't mind! ^^ And I apologize for mine being short. I'm so tired right now... ugh))

The elf too consumed in his own thoughts just brushed off the others help. "No, thank you," he said absently. The creature did not realize a human was looking at him, and did not look afraid. It took a couple minutes for him to actually become aware of the whole situation, then did he become tense.

Ryuu on the other hand was watching with cautious eyes. Kiko seemed well-behaved. This boy kept throwing surprises at him, and that was starting to get annoying. He disliked surprises. Ryuu was the type of man that liked to know things, and strongly disliked people keeping information away from him. His eyes looked at his elf companion. Why was he here? A friendly visit? The male supposed it could be a possibility, but why now? Usually friends came to visit each other during the day. Something did not feel right. His elf friend has come with a purpose and he wanted to know what it is.

The small elf looked at Kiko with shock. His mind went on a cursing streak. It was like this, his face was still yet his mind was moving as fast as light. His senses had left him in the dust, only leaving his coward instincts intact. With a small dash, he went behind Ryuu and hissed at the male in a tongue that Kiko might not know. "Why is there a human in your garden," he hissed in his native tongue. The taller of the two did not respond, because he did not how to answer that.

Why was Kiko in his garden?

He looked down at his friend and shrugged his shoulders, "I do not know," he responded simply. The elf scowled at his answer and jabbed Ryuu on the leg with his index finger. "When he leaves come inside the house, I need to speak with you," he said, leaving the two blonds alone. Ryuu looked at Kiko, "Sorry about that...he is not fond of humans for reasons I can't discuss." The male looked at the flower in his hand and felt a smug happiness well inside of him. It just looked so beautiful now. Hard work pays off.

Ryuu was about to ask the male to leave when a question formed in his head, "Will that flower really give you the friends you desire," he asked curiously.
