Basic Info
Name: Dexter Hughes Age: 28 Birthday: Jan. 8 Sex: Male Country of Origin: England
Relationships Boss: Black Gold - Real name unknown. Called Black Gold because of the special type of OVERT-DRIVE that he sells. Underling: Big Smiles - Real name is Jerome Capthana, Asian descent, always smiling due to his constant high. Underling: Cloudy Days - Real name is George Clementine, English decent. Known as Cloudy Days due to his almost constant depression. Flavor of the Week: Ms. Yolanda Vogue
History War: Born in the middle of the War, Dexter's father had been called into service for the MOTHERLAND's great Navy as a deckhand. Dexter and his mother lived in a modest home while he was away, kept alive by military pensions throughout the years he was gone. His father came back when the war was called to a stalemate, spirit broken and with a reliance on morphine to get him through the day. Dexter's mother, in a plan to break her husband's addiction gone wrong, ended up addicted to morphine as well. Dexter refused to touch the stuff and finish his college education, majoring in chemistry. Why use the product when idiots were willing to buy it?
Post-War: Moving out of his morphine ridden home, Dexter bought his first house with the gold he had amassed in college, selling morphine to students stressing over finals, sold to the frat guys, and even a few of the professors. College had been a breeze for Dexter, and it showed in the way he acted. Laid-back and easy going, Dexter was known as Papa Bear by the addicts on campus, due to the characteristics of a cool dad that he possessed.
Dexter graduated with a Bachelor's in Chemistry and an ego two sizes too big. The MOTHERLAND immediately contacted him and got him working on deadly bio-gasses that could be used in their final strike on the opposition. The job payed well, and gave Dexter the equipment he needed to produce morphine en mass. The quickest and cheapest way to produce morphine was using a cheap electric motor to separate the various chemicals in Saltaire's heavily polluted water, and then to heat the needed chemicals over an oven stove. Dexter had a bit more class than that. He used an expensive car motor that ran on carbon (the model was an abandoned project by the MOTHERLAND, deemed too cost effective for the general public), and a Bunsen burner he borrowed from his lab.
Dexter had to make sure to return the equipment every night, however, because if one of the chiefs saw even one lab coat missing, the newbie wold be detained by MOTHERLAND officials and most likely killed. The MOTHERLAND was sure to keep a constant watch on him; they said those with brains would always try to find some way to undermine their authority. So Dexter had to lay low, be coy, never seem suspicious. He nearly slipped up once, one of his chiefs catching him shoving a Bunsen burner into his coat. Dexter told him he was taking it home to repair it, because the lab didn't have the necessary tools to repair the device. He got a strange look, but was given the go ahead. From that day, he made sure to be the last one in the lab before taking anything home.
Morphine wasn't good enough, however, to make him the bookoo bucks he needed to buy that cozy little estate that had belonged to a friend's rich mother, who had recently died in a horrible accident regarding a mutated rabbit. Dexter's friend offered to sell him the house, mentioning that he would be living next to a model with the much desired "Girl Next Door" attitude. Dexter asked his regular customers what the most popular drug in Salitaire was, and who sold it. He got two names: OVERT-DRIVE and Black Gold.
Dexter asked around about the man fist, learning various things about the big drug boss of Saltaire. He could only be seen by appointment, no one knew which estate was his, and he was known to be cruel and demanding of his underlings. He never got an address, a spot to meet him, or even a syringe that he had distributed. The guy was like a smoke ring; there, but then gone. Weeks passed, and Dexter still had no luck finding Black Gold. Feeling defeated, Dexter spent an afternoon tossing rocks into Lake Saltaire from the pier. Around evening, a man with a big pompadour sat next to him, following suit were too goons in strange get ups.
"You're in kid." Dexter was filthy rich in a month, and had made a new drug within two.
Personality Dexter was always smart, even before selling drugs to idiots that couldn't wait until their next hit. He was diligent in his studies and could often be found with a text in his hand; usually something about chemistry or physics, his two favored subjects. Going hand in hand with his smarts, Dexter is also quick witted. He finds solutions easily, and solves equations at speeds that come close to computers. This lead to a rather pompous attitude, since his teachers and elders were constantly praising him and feeding him attention like a mother feeds her fat child lollipops. His stunning self-confidence was only boosted by the 'love' he received from his customers during college, and his test scores showed he had a right to act better than everyone. His professors regarded him as a genius, and their complements coupled with all the recommendations he earned made him feel far superior to everyone else. To top it all off, Dexter is a great improviser, and can come up with an alibi in the most pressing situations.
On the other side of the coin, Dexter is always trying to undercut some other dealer, or wring more money out of a customer than the product is worth. You're selling your product for 500 gold a kilo? Dexter will sell his for 300, run you out of business, take your customers, and then jack his prices up to 1,000 and tell your former customers that the stuff is getting scarce. Dexter's cruel that way, as well as in others. If one of his underlings fails to sell, Dexter will ruthlessly beat them with the crowbar taped under his desk. He has no qualms with smacking his girlfriend if she embarrasses him in public either. This all ties in with Dexter's "Me First" attitude, putting himself as the top priority in his life. He'll gladly shove you under the bus, literally, to save himself. A real a*****e, Dexter fits the title of "Drug Dealer" to a T.
He aspires to one day be richer and more powerful than Black Gold, his self-proclaimed rival. He has a burning respect for the man, and an even more burning anger at the feeling of being someone's lesser. He envies Black Gold for all he has; a beautiful wife, money, several manors, and children as beautiful, if not more, than his wife. Dexter aspires to one day have those same things, but on a higher level than Gold's. He will do anything to achieve that goal, and schemes of ways to one-up his boss all the time. His latest scheme; acquire one of these oft talked about Princelings as a son, to say that his son can do more than Black Gold's son.
Appearance x - Street Clothes
Other OVERT-DRIVE: A drug that's just recently been developed. A potent combination of steroids and pheromones, the user is buffed up for the duration of the drug and become extremely attractive to all those around the user. OVERT-DRIVE is applied via needle, or can be drunk. Side effects include: addiction, genitalia shrinkage, vomiting, diarrhea, dry heaving, and eventually brain damage. Overdosing leads to more severe forms of such side-effects, and could lead to death.
XtraPiece: Dexter's creation; a PCP type drug that's introduced into the body in a tablet form. It's street name is Chilly Teeth - the user's teeth become an ice blue color due to the chemicals in the drug. When on XtraPiece, the user becomes next to invincible, as well as receiving a boost to the leg muscles. Piece is used mostly by acrobats, street performers, and thieves; enabling them to make long jumps, survive long falls, and run faster. Side effects include, but are not limited to: paranoia, addiction, violent tendencies, blue teeth, foul breath, upset stomach, hallucinations, and loss of judgment skills. Overdosing always results in death.
Identity: While working at his regular job, Dexter wears a pair of contacts made by Black Gold for him. The contacts work by establishing a wireless connection with retina scanning devices and accessing their memory banks. They chose an employee that isn't Dexter, and shape themselves to look like the chosen employee's retina.
Dexter has a pair of gloves that work in a similar way for fingerprint-scanning devices. The gloves are made to look like Dexter's hands, but the fingertips are blank. By accessing the memory banks for the last person to be scanned, the gloves copy that person's fingertips onto the blank fingertips.

I have to say, I prefer this character to the priest :'D You seem to play this one better. We have a few drug dealers now (I assume that's what your character is) actually.
Your character is a bit contradictory though--slapping girls and pushing you under the bus but a coward at heart? He doesn't exactly scream "coward" so much as "a*****e" but you still have to refine his personality; amidst all the "Papa Bear" and "Stormy Fish" and "Rainbow Smiles" etc ( razz ) I kind of got confused as to what the point of his life was, what he does, what motives he operates under, what turned him into an a*****e, whether he was always like that, and so on. It feels like an unfinished character profile, it's difficult to relate to him.
Also, why does your Prince talk in old English? Did he learn it from somewhere, did he pick it up from Dexter?

Overall I enjoyed reading this character's bio, he'll sure be an interesting person to meet. ;D However, a few things: This is the 32nd century, why morphine? It's nice to mellow out and all, but wouldn't people be wanting to have drugs that give them super-human powers rather than super-kitty napping abilities? Think Bloody Eye from Cowboy Bebop. From his achievements to his personality to his goals, 20 sounds too young for Dexter. Mid- to late-twenties would fit better, possibly even early thirties. The outfits are rather...obnoxious. I'm not Dju so I can't say much on this, but I'd think they'd be easily noticed by MOTHERLAND since they're pretty out there. Also going on MOTHERLAND, if he worked as a scientist developing weapons, they'd have a close eye on him and he likely wouldn't be let go simply because the war ended. You should expand on this since MOTHERLAND plays a vital role in the shop. You should explain the nicknames~ Just some things to think about. wink Technical stuff: -Be careful of being redundant unless there's a point to it; even if a few words are changed, if it means the same thing, it can be distracting. "He finds solutions easily, and solves problems with ease." -"The job payed good" > "The job payed well"

Oooh..-wiggles about- I like your char carhop! Yes yes indeed I do like him!! -very cool- I also like the whole drug dealer idea, its exciting.
You know, a good way possibly, for him to get out from under motherlands watchful gaze without being bothered -if thats what your going for- is you could have what makes him identified removed?
Fingerprints can be surgically erased -is done in our own fbi sometimes today- his retina's/eyes could be switched out for someone elses -think minority report- other little things like that, that might help him lay low and go undetected in his dangerous line of work.
I love the idea of overt-drive! I do! Though I think, maybe you could add just one more big selling drug on there to make your character believable? While becoming undeniably attractive to others sounds wonderful..chances are in the 32 century, the only people who are fat/ugly..well..ugly(lawls poor ppls cant get fat!)..and unwantable would be those whom are poor. As anyone else with any type of money could invest in such beautifying surgeries or products. So stick with OVERT-DRIVE, but also tack on a secondary hard core high selling drug. Zydrate - from repo man, and definitely Bloody Eye -from bebop, are wonderful idea starters. (Pst..yay lil for bebop fans!)

*paints her bum and sits on the thread* Approved~ ;D
Shini: Keep in mind this is the 32nd century with a LOT of surveillance and electronics. There's no way to erase your identity. Even in today's century, they are working on 'magnetic dust' that carries electronic information so people will, for example, be able to get in the elevator and it'll automatically go to their floor without any buttons being pressed. wink
