I ask this question for the obvious reason. I am curious if anyone would like to join a roleplay containing this as it's cental theme. Of course depending on the results we might just go pirate or vampirate depending on the number of inductees, however if the chance should arise then we can go both pirate and vampirate. In the event, the first should occur then I'll just begin with the formalities of one set of rules. If the latter of the two should occur then I'm asking for some assistance. I could try and watch over two ships, although I would like it if there was another to captian that one. So I'm asking what does everyone think. And please as a side note, be respectful to everyone when you leave a response don't go off an a tangent about sparkly vampires or anything or how blah blah blah. *Oops, forgot...If you be interested in a position of captian then pm me and we can talk. **Another one that I forgot. If you are interested, which side would you take? The vampirate ship, human or vampire; pirate ship, human pirate;

Interesting... might you have more information about this? For example, any plot motivators?
P.S. Were you inspired by the series Vampirates written by Justin Somper by any chance?

Actually, Yes I was...sorta. I had the idea for a before the 2505 Timeframe. I'm actually very frightened by their classification. They are rated as a Kid's book and it's not the fact that I'm seventeen and I'm reading them that's scaring me. It's the fact that there are some disturbing parts in there. Sidorio's eyes for one. Another would be the name which the vampires use for their meal...'The Feast' is kinda disturbing espically when you think of what they're 'eating'. I dunno, It could just be me. It is quite an interesting series, despite the fact that I've only read the first two. I need to finish the last two...good thing I bought the whole set.
As for other information....ummm....let's see if I can find that file. Now, I might be mistaking the meaning of a plot motivator but I was thinking along the lines of a first starting off in the pirate mode with maybe the day after a seige; Divvy up the bootie and the what not so people can get a feel for the basics of the roleplay. As for the main problem, I was thinking along the lines of the crew and captain trying to become one of the greatest in history, that or rival pirates begin attacking the crew they've got get better or get off the seas. Once they defeat enough pirates, I'll introduce the vampirates as the final enemy or something. I haven't quite figured out the details for this side of the roleplay Now onto the Vampirates, again the specifics are a bit weak but it would be something like either a Sidorio event where he makes a rival Vampirate ship and tries to kill the characters or over crowding of the main ship and they are forced to either compromise and share the ship or create a second ship of Vampirates the main thing that will move that forward would be A) the need for a ship (which they would steal from a pirate) B) remaining discrete and maybe battling against the Federation. Again, I apologize for the lack of specifics but I was first looking at a fanfiction and less then a roleplay. It could be fun though to play around with the concept. What do you think? Got any ideas?

Actually, I haven't gotten around to reading the series, I've only seen them on the shelves. I've been sorely tempted to give them a shot, though if I ever do read them it won't be for a long while. I still have multiple series I have to get through.
I like the concept of having specific roles and the "pick as side" factor. It makes it feel like a game, which is part of the entire idea of roleplaying, yes? I also agree it will need a bit of fleshing out, and I can definitely see how it started as a fanfiction idea. Will you be making it based off the series, like a fanfic RP where characters, settings, plot, etc. from the published series appear? Or will it be more like an inspired original story with only slightly familiar terms / ideas?

There are actually a pretty quick read, considering that the longest book is only 536 pages and the font rather large. I got the books yesterday and I'm half way through. Sorry...that sound like bragging didn't mean for it to come out like that.
I agree. I thought it would be a bad idea at first but the way you described it makes more sense now. I was thinking original story mostly because I haven't read through them all and know what happens in them. I was thinking of throwing other problemsat them which differ from the way the other was leading the series. However, that might change when I get more details on the numbers of willing people. Probably should add some another question to the main post.
Which side would you take?

Nah, not bragging, just stating an example.
So you're thinking about doing an in-between. With major themes from the series yet totally different in terms of plot and characters. An Alternate Universe (AU) kind of deal?
I myself am a huge sucker for anti-heroes and villians. Seeing as it's a pirate theme, either side is appealing. So if, or when, the time comes, I can play whatever side needs it more. I also like complex relationships and conspiracies so I may lean towards the vampirate side.

rofl Sorry about that. I find what you said to be to the tooth. The relationship between the Grace, one of the main characters on the Vampirate ship, Lorcan and the Captian is just that; as thick as pea soup. It's very interesting. And do I sense a little Sidorio in you...this will be extremely interesting. ((Just so you know, Sidorio was the first, and only vampire to rebell against the Captian...He killed his human...)) Now I'm all wound up to get started. As for your first question yes, that's sorta along the lines of my thought. Is there anything you can think of that would be helpful for me to put in the first few posts?

Helpful, eh? Well, I think the most important thing would be the plot, or at least an idea of where the plot might go. People looking for RPs tend to imagine what will happen in the future, so they will want options. For example, someone looking for an action / adventure RP will be looking to see who the main adversary might be so that they may plan their character based off of that. In the same way, I want to know a bit more about these different sides before choosing one for myself. It's good to have a lot of information, as a solid foundation, but not so much that you smother the RPers.

I wouldn't mind joining, it sounds interesting. I have a few Ideas to contribute to the plot if you were still interested in more help. I think for the genre, you'd want to be looking more towards a Victorian feel, If you'd like it to take place in the future steampunk would probably be your best bet. Also I really like the Idea of Sky pirates for a futuristic setting, for the sake of nostalgia, however, I think having both sea faring pirates as well as sky pirates would add to the appeal.
