Good thread! I need to do some research cuz I sadly only have 1 picture book of kyaraben, but no actual bento style cookbooks stressed I'd love to hear what others have to say about their favorites!

I really like the Manga Cookbook for the basic recipes! I've seen Bento: Japanese meals on the go at the library. It's got a lot of wonderful pictures, but since a lot of the ingredients for some dishes just aren't available to me locally I can't say I use it.

'Vegan Lunch Box' is pretty much it. It's not special for bento, but it's got a lot of good recipes and cute stuff in there that I can eat c:

I'm like Nakadai Futaba, I have no bento-centric cookbooks. I just tend to grab recipes and modify them so that I cook enough food for a couple of bento - and not enough for a main meal for four or something.

@ JinxKat: As far as I know, the "Cute Yummy Time" book isn't that great. Some of the recipes are reliant on the equipment used (e.g. ice-cream sandwich molds) and others don't look appetizing at all. Pikko (who runs Adventures in Bento Making) reviewed it and from the sounds, she was disappointed too.
(Luckily I only flicked through it when I saw it in a book shop a month ago, I never would've bought it from what I saw in it)

I actually had the opportunity to meet her this saturday b/c she'll be appearing at a "Tune in Tokyo" valentines party in the LA area, but I'm leaving tomorrow for north cali! emo But maybe it works out for the best b/c judging from her video tutorial I posted in its respective thread, I don't know if I'd have anything nice to say sweatdrop But still ya know? stressed haha oh well

You should post some of your favorite recipe sites in the resources thread! Personally, tastespotting.com is a super favorite of mine 3nodding
