A sign outside hung and tapped gently against the small brick house as the wind blew through its old squeaky hinges. The sign was decorated with entricate golden detail, and in a metallic white paint read: Dr. Olivia Theodore PHD

In the dead hours of early morning, the phone begins to ring. Before she manages to get to it, the answering machine kicks on.
It's the voice of the man she met at the restaurant. "Dr. I'm sorry for calling you at this terrible hour. Avice just woke up in a cold sweat, shaking and howling from nightmares. I think she's very ill. I would like to get her in to see you as soon as possible. Please call me when you get this... at eh, 969-5487...thank you..."
He hasn't hung up yet...

Olivia removed her scarf as she closed her front door in time to hear someone speaking. She froze and her heart pounded in her ears as her eyes narrowed. She turned slowly, yet her eyes danced wildly in an attempt to catch the intruder. When her eyes landed on the answering machine with the recording light still blinking in confirmation, Olivia leapt towards the telephone excitedly.
"Hello, are you still there? I'm here, I'm at home. If you want to, you can bring 'Avice' over as soon as it fits into your schedule."
Olivia pulled her blonde hair back into a quick and sloppy ponytail.

"Oh, thank you so much. I hope I didn't wake you up. Listen, we'll be over as soon as we can flag down a cab. Thanks again."

Olivia smiled in self-satisfaction. "Of course, It's no problem. Remember, my house is on that one street that I showed you. Only one with a red roof, you can't miss it."
After Olivia hung up the phone, she blinked and rubbed her hands together as if saying: Okay, now what? "Ah." She mumbled to herself when she caught sight of her blue porcelain teapot sitting idly over the stove burner. She quickly poured in some water and turned the knob in preparation of tea for her first patients.

Their cab pulls up in her driveway, a scattering of raindrops on its windshield. He gets out, and helps Avice out, keeping them both under his coat. He hurries her up to the front steps, and rings the doorbell. Before she has a chance to open the door, he unscrews the cap from his flask, and takes a good strong drink. Then he tucks the flask inside his coat...

Olivia ducked under the curtains when she heard the car pull up and saw the lights shine in through her front window. It was true, this Avice girl really looked under the weather, and how ironic that it was raining. Her boyfriend looked just as sick as well, though with worry, not bacterium. Olivia pranced to the door and swung it open, beckoning them inside quickly.
"You two; if you ever need anything, don't wait for me to come to the door, just come inside! You're crazy to wait outside in weather like this, especially when one is sick! Oh here I am rambling on about all this nonsense about the weather when you two need to come inside! Oh...."
Olivia backed away from the doorway leaving them room to move indoors.

Taking a step foward, Avice felt like she was in a dream. She heard a ringing in her ears and spots kept dancing in her eyes. Grabbing for Nevi, she panicked when all she felt was air. "Nevi? Where are?"

He steps into the warmth of the house, slipping out of his coat and hat. "Good morning, Doctor. Thanks for seeing us at a time when any sane human being would be a lump under the covers." Olivia notices a few things about him, off the bat. Everything he is wearing is a knock-off of a designer label, except for the Nevermore family ring on his finger. He has a bit of a hollow look to his face, and though his demeanor is amiable, she can sense a weight on his shoulders, depression, perhaps.
And there's something else, something in the way he looks at her. She can'f figure it out, but he is looking almost as though he recognizes her from somewhere long ago.
"Where should we...?"
Addition: He looks then to Avice, his brow creasing desperately. "The doctor's house, dear. We're at the doctor's." He looks back to Olivia. "She's still drowsy."

Olivia smiled and narrowed her eyes as if trying to comprehend the odd look she was getting. "You okay there? I don't really go with the whole 'Doctor' thing, so you can loosen up a bit. The name's Olivia, but I go by Theo. C'mon, let's move into the den. I have some tea hot off the stove if you're interested."
She jammed her hands in the pockets of her skirt and ushered the couple into the next room, furnished mostly of very breakable looking glass ornaments and a small humble Christmas tree crouching in the corner, but releasing a scent that it seemed to want to show off.

Nodding her head as if in a fog, Avice followed the doctor named 'Theo'. "Tea? Where? Hey, the monkeys are gone!" Smiling happily, Avice moved for a cup and breathed deeply of the strong scent coming form the small tree.

After the "monkeys" comment, he rubs his face. "Yes, tea will be good. Thank you, Theo." He sts down and cups his hands around the offered teacup, soaking in the warmth. He takes a sip, and drinks deeply. He's dehydrated--he hasn't had anything nonalcoholic to drink in almost 48 hours.
"You can call me Nevi, if you like. I prefer informality and it seems you do as well. So..." His eyes jump to Avice, and back to Theo. "You might want to... test for poisons." he thinks about Doris with disdain. "What do you think could cause stomach pains and hallucinatons?"

"HEY! You know what, I like you Nevi. I dunno, I just, like, do." She flipped her hair and grabbed the tea cup and took a sip, gasping when it burned her tongue. Shaking her head she looked at Theo, "I think some thing is wrong. I think this is effecting my aura." Her eyes went wide on the last word.

"Well it's good to know we're on the same page, Nevi." She grinned at him, her pearly white teeth sparkling. She turned to Avice and shrugged girlishly. "I dunno if there's anything wrong with the tea, I mean, it's just jasmine. Are you feeling well enough to answer a few questions for my records? Procedure, apologies, it's manditory." Theo rose to close a window that had been left open to bring in a moist wind.
