Yes, YES, a thousand times yes.
I made fun of this guy in Blockbuster today because when I went to get Inglorious Basterds he was like, "Do you have any interest in buying that new that new Twilight movie...?" Of course, I just laughed in his face and he was like, "I'M SORRY, I have to ask everybody! I'm really sorry." So I said, "Well, I'm really sorry you have to ask, dude." He just pouted at me, the poor thing.

I hate Twilight. What I hate more is the hype and the crazy pushy cult that call themselves fans. I'm not trying to dis fandom as I have my own fangirly moments but these people go are a bit off. I thought about reading the books a while back. I even borrowed a copy of the first book. But the more people pushed, the less interested I became. And what little I have read wasn't very good. And the movies flat out suck.
Also, the "relationship" between Bella and Edward? Not romantic. Creepy, abusive, and more like drug addiction then love? Yes. Romantic? No. They don't care about each other's personalities and interests. They are physically addicted to each others presence. That is not love.

I hate that faggy Twilight movie. it completely screws the concept of what vampires and werewolves are supposed to be like. For one thing, vampires dont ******** sparkle, okay? thats the ultimate faggotry in the movie. plus the whole thing is nothing more than a shitty a** soap opera for little girls who think being goth is all the rage! to hell with Twilight and i hope Stephanie Meyer goes into a deep depression and reflects on this crap that she has forced onto our world

I haven't read any of the books and have absolutely no interest in doing so. I have seen both movies and that is because I was hanging out with my sister and she wanted to see them. The second one is so much better than the first one. I say this mostly because Edward is not in it for most of the movie. What a blessing that was. There was something like a normal relationship between Bella and Jacob. And also, I am a werewolf girl as opposed to a vampire chick.
I believe that part of the reason for Twilight's popularity so quickly, is that the world was looking for the next thing to fill Harry Potter's shoes. So it would seem that they latched on to this.
The thing that I really hate about the Twilight series is what it has done to fantasy literature. You can't turn around without having a new vampire novel/series jump from the shelf. This is ridiculous. The whole world in not in love with vampires, just the loudest. It irritates me to no end that this is the direction that urban fantasy is going. While it was sort of headed that way already, it exploded when Twilight hit. I also hate what it is doing to the culture. Vampires are not nice and you should not trust them, period. You want a vampire film, check out "Thirty Days of Night" see how that compares to your sparkly world. Or even go read the original vampire fiction "Dracula." Even "Interview with a Vampire" would fit more with my world view than Twilight.
I have a friend who read the series and said that the writing was like an unedited mediocure fanfiction. From my impression of the movies, I think that he may be right. I found the movies to be really cheesy. Like they were only half thought out and then given a super special effects budget.
