Welcome to Charms. This is a required class for those 5th year and under and encouraged for the older students as well. Emily Anne Wixom is the Professor here and she is also the Head of Ravenclaw. She is usually all smiles but she does have a temper if you decide to test it. She believes in hard work and honesty so lets have some fun shall we?

Description: Emily is a muggle born with a wand is 15 inches of willow with a pheonix feather inside.
History: Emily’s mother was an only child but had always wished she had siblings. Growing up she was very smart and caring and that is how she met her husband. Emily’s father met his wife when he needed a tutor so he could pass Math, and Spanish to keep from getting suspended from the baseball team. The two hooked up and soon got married. Emily’s father had been from a larger family and loved it. When his wife got pregnant with Emily he took very good care of his wife, so much that she started going crazy from lack of things to do. After the baby was born they learned fast that Emily was a very bright and as she grew older she excelled in school. When the younger 5 were born Emily also stepped up and took responsibility to help care for them, but everyone knew that she was special in more than just that. The speed with which she progressed, her ability to do things non-human, and the ability to do things others could at a much better ability.
Emily was closest to her father and the two were nearly inseperateable. Anyone that knew Emily knew that she was her father’s favorite. It was this way until the January she turned 11. Emily and her father were riding in the car and were in a terrible car crash. Her father was killed instantly trying to cover Emily, and had to be cut out of the car before being life lighted to the hospital. Emily once again displayed her special ability and made a remarkable recovery that the doctors couldn’t explain. When she was sent home it was to find her mother a wreck and Emily couldn’t feel the sorrow she felt at losing her best because she had to step up and care for her 5 brothers since because her mother was in deep depression refusing to do anything. The rest of the school year and that summer Emily spent her time caring for her family and trying to help her mother cope while shoving her pain deep down. It was the middle of July when she finally broke under all the pressure. She yelled and cried all day and her mother finally realized what she was doing to her family, especially her daughter. The very next day Emily received her letter from Hogwarts explaining why she had always been so different. At first Emily decided that she couldn’t go but her mother told her that she needed to go back to being a kid and that it would be a good way to get her mind off things and intermingle with kids her own age with her abilities.
As Emily arrived at the school she was fascinated with the world around her. When she tried the sorting hat on she was immediately sorted into Ravenclaw and it wasn’t long before she was top of her class. Emily befriended students of every year and every house and always kept perfect marks. She played Seeker for the Ravenclaw Quidditch team but on the ground she has no coordination. In her 5th year she was selected for the Female Ravenclaw Prefect and her 7th year she shined as the Head Girl unaccompanied by a Head Boy. This year was another traumatic experience as Head Mistress Caroline Walker was killed by the 6th year Female Slytherin Prefect Alyssa. She was the only one to see it except her friend Angela Yelsah who is a death seer, and that summer her cousin made sure that her memory was erased. Emily also had a battle of knowledge with the brilliant Auror Jonathan Yelsah that year though she had no idea until much later. Emily then accepted a position as the Charms teacher from the new Head Master Conan Dasklin, as well as another traumatizing experience as the domestic Charms teacher though she was only 18. She took the position of teaching kids she had been good friends with just the year before and helped some of them cope with the traumatic year before when Angela Yelsah’s memory came back and Alyssa remembered that she had killed the Head Mistress. Her youngest brother also started Hogwarts last year, and he is the only other one in her family with magical talent. Joshua has always been more adventuraous than Emily and while he is there she has an extra responsibility to make sure he doesn’t blow up anything. Now she is returning for her second year as a Hogwarts Professor and is proud to be working among a wonderful crew. She sends the money she makes from teaching home to her family since after her fathers death the family grew fairly poor and gave up a lot just to send her to school. Now she put’s Josh through school and sends home a lot of the rest to help her other brothers and mother. She does not plan on teaching domestic charms this time around though.
Personality: Emily is a complete space cadet. She just graduated Hogwarts 2 years ago, so many of the students still know her and she is friends with everyone. Emily doesn't hold grudges because she believes that hate is a learned behavior and one she refuses to learn, but she does get angry and when she is angry you had better watch out. She knows how to lead since she has spent the past 8 and a half years being the second parent to 5 boys while hiding her own feelings. Safety is one of her biggest rules and she is very serious when it comes to it because of her responsibility of being the oldest child and then her father’s death. Emily is usually laughing, but knows how to take her position as teacher and head of house seriously. Her favorite thing is to tease Dasklin, but she always knows when to draw the line. Emily also takes orders from Dasklin alone though she will respect others opinions and admires John Yelsah. She takes her position of Head of Ravenclaw house very serious and expects her Ravenclaws to follow a very high standard.
Pet: She has a snowy owl with black tipped wings named Alice, and a pure bread Siamese cat named Jasmine.
Position: Emily is the Charms and Domestic Charms teacher, as well as the Head of Ravenclaw.

Welcome to a new year. First I want to knock out some rules that I expect to be followed no matter what year or house you belong to because you are all students and I don't play favorites.
Respect:
As long as you respect me and the other people in my class I'm very content. I believe that respect goes a long way and we will not get very far with bad attitudes. If your respect slips towards either me or a classmate in my presence at all I will correct you and the next time you will trade 5 house points for a detention. I have better things to do than take attitude from teenagers.
Talking:
Please do not talk during my lectures. I give you plenty of time for chatter while you are practicing and I hope that you will take what I say seriously because I am the Professor and can help you out a lot. If you are speaking during my lecture I will stop until I have gotten your attention and then remind you about my respect rule. If it happens again I'll stop my lecture and write you a detention slip dismissing you to your Head of House and taking 5 house points because I don't need you disturbing the rest of my class. If you are in my House you will get the privelege of sitting right next to my desk doing absolutely nothing until the end of class at which time I will speak to you.
Passing Notes:
DON'T do it. The only time you would have to pass notes is during my lectures and I won't stand for it. It is very rude and I have a quick eye. I have cared for 5 boys since I turned 11 and they have tried just about everything. By now many of you will know my younger brother James and if I can keep up with him I can keep up with you passing notes. If I see you passing notes I will take it and read it to the class. If it is offensive to anyone everyone that had anything to do with the note will trade 5 house points for a night of detention. The second time I take a note I don't care what's on it, EVERYONE that had ANYTHING to do with the note will trade 5 house points for a night of detention to double if it's offensive when I read it to the class. All students involved with the note will also be dismissed to their Head of House and Ravenclaw's will sit quietly next to my desk doing nothing the rest of the period.
Wands:
The ONLY spells you are to use are those I have told you to. If I have not told you to do magic or a certain spell and I see it you can bet that you will IMMEDIATELY find yourself stunned with a week of detention, 20 points from your house, a confiscated wand that you can pick up AT THE END OF THE DAY from your Head of House, and a dismissal from my class for the day. I WILL NOT stand for unsupervised magic because it's a safety hazard and something I refuse to condone.
Fighting:
Fighting will gain the same punishment as if you had fired spells without my permission even if it's muggle fist fighting. It's something I WILL NOT condone and you can guarantee that your Head of House will have a visit from me before you can say oops. Once again you will be without your wand for the day, you will be dismissed from my class, and you will trade 20 house points for a week of detention. This goes for ANYTIME I have to break up a fight and this punishment will be handed out to EVERYONE involved. Even if you are trying to stop it. If you are on the grounds and caught fighting everyone around will get the punishment for not running for a staff. This goes even for you Prefects and Head Boy and Girl. My 7th year at Hogwarts I was stopping a fight on the quidditch field and punished with the others when Dasklin showed up though I hadn't yet done a thing and I was Head Girl so I know the Headmaster will back me up on this.
Homework and Tests:
Homework will only be given if you are not catching on and I believe you need further practice or the class manages to piss me off and I give written work. If in the event this happens I WILL expect it to be handed in at the START of the next class. Any late homework will receive a 0 and you will lose 5 house points and make up for it with a detention. Tests will be given randomly and they won't be big but I expect you to work on your own and do your best.
Tutoring
If you feel you need extra help feel free to stop at my office during either of my free periods, or before or after classes. I make no promises that I'll be there ALL the time because I do like to explore and need breaks but I will do my best to help you if you tell me in advance. If you don't tell me in advance then you'll just have to chance it.
Foul Language:
I don't hold with foul language and if I hear it it's a violation of my respect rule. This one doesn't leave you with a warning though so you had better watch it. That's how serious I am about the language you use. You will immediately lose 5 house points and I'll see you for detention.
Detention:
As you have probably guessed... I don't hesitate to give out detention and each time you gain detention you lose house points. Don't think detention with me will be fun. You have wasted my time and while you are in detention it's my chance to waste yours. You will therefore do anything that pops into my head from helping me with papers the DON'T concern your year, to scrubbing my office clean. I guess it also depends on how bad you piss me off. When you show up for detention I expect you to have to slip I gave you signed by your Head of House or I will not accept you and it will go down as a skipped detention. You also must be on time for detention. I'm usually lenient about timing but detention is where I'm strict because it's when you've sacrificed all your time to me. If you are even a minute late I will not accept you and it will go down as a skipped detention. Any skipped detention will gain full punishment with a loss of 20 house points, and the one night of detention turns into one week. I advise against it.
Tardies and Absences:
Except for during detention I'm pretty lenient with tardies. That does not mean that I condone it so listen carefully and we may get through this. If you are no more than 10 minutes late you will be fine even without a note. If are past 10 minutes though I expect a note or you will trade 5 house points for a detention. I also don't want you coming in late all the time. You are permitted to be late 2 days in 5. The third time you are late without excuse will cost you a night of detention and 5 house points. As for absences I expect you to be in my class. If you miss and you don't have a note from either the Head Master, your Head of House, the nurse, or 2 valid witnesses that your excuse is legitimate and good you will be given detention and lose 5 house points. Your two witnesses MUST be from outside of the class you are skipping.

Emily walked into her classroom taking a deep breath with a smile on her face. Her break had been absolutely wonderful just because she had been able to relax. Things didn't seem so stressed now and she was happy for it as she set her things on her desk. She even felt up to facing Atticus and his snide comments about her teaching ways. She knew he was getting sweeter, but all it was really doing was confusing her and so far all she had been able to do is do her best to ignore him and let him do as he wanted so long as it didn't cause too any problems. This first period would also be the hardest to get through and after she did it would be just smooth sailing all they way until she hit the small bump that was her brother. But then again, James was scared of Atticus so he was behaving a lot better.

Ricky walked into the Charms room and smiled at Emily. He was glad to see the old fire back into her eyes that showed she was confident again. Ever since the student teacher had arrived Emily had pulled back a little. Some of the fire had come back after the Hogsmeade trip but he knew that Emily still felt like an idiot for what had happened down there so she had still played cautious around Professor Travis. "Good morning Professor." Ricky smiled as he slid into a seat and pulled out the things he knew he would need for the class. He looked around hoping to see Scarlett. It was odd how much he had missed her over the break. In fact Ricky hadn't been able to keep his mind off of her and it had driven him slightly crazy.

 Scarlett Eaves Scarlett walked into the Charms classroom, utterly glad that the break was over and eager to get back to her routine of classes and homework. She smiled at Professor Wixom and said, "Good morning professor", before turning and seeing Ricky already in class. Their eyes met and she grinned hugely at him. She had missed him a great deal over the holiday and kept wishing he had stayed in the castle, so she had been waiting for the new semester to begin to finally see him again. Scarlett practically skipped over to where he sat and said, "Good morning Ricky" before leaning down and giving him a big hug. She blushed as she took her seat next to him, hoping that she hadn't just made things weird by giving him an I-really-missed-you-and-am-so-glad-you're-back hug.

Ricky grinned as Scarlett walked in and waved at her immediately. He was glad she had the respect to acknowledge Emily first since she was the Professor and entitled to that respect. It drove him crazy when kids didn't show respect to those that deserved it. In some countries when a teacher or someone with authority walked in the kids already in the room would stand out of respect. Here the professors were lucky if the kids didn't try to sabatoge their job let alone give them a friendly greeting some of the time. When Scarlett hugged Ricky he grinned even bigger. He was glad to see that Scarlett had missed him as well and silently wished he had stayed at the castle. Though it felt weird because he really shouldn't miss her this much. He had just barely started talking to her this year, and part of that was because she was a Prefect that needed to report to him now and then as well as receive instruction from him. This feeling of how bad he missed Scarlett made him wonder if he was nothing but a big flirt since at the beginning of the year he had been causing chaos in this very room with Erin. "Hey Scar, it's nice to see you happy and healthy. How was your vacation?"

Scarlett Eaves Scarlett replied to Ricky, still smiling, "My vacation was lonely." She laughed and continued, "Everyone left for the holidays, so the castle was eerily empty. How about yours?" She hoped she hadn't given away just how miserable she had been during the entire break; she didn't want to make him feel sorry for her or anything.

{ atticus » j є я є м у » travis }  With winter break finally over, Atticus groggily stepped into the classroom, rubbing his eyes from behind a pair of black thick rimmed glasses. According to his muggle optometrist, he needed glasses now that his eye sight was getting a little worse. Still adjusting to it, he tried to avoid the fact that the floor below him looked like it was about to pop out at him any second and went to his usual place in the classroom without a word to Emily or any acknowledgement to the students. Finals for him were coming up soon and that meant that these exams would determine if he was going to get his teachers crudentials or not. Laying out his messenger bag onto his seat, Atticus pulled out textbooks and many parchments of notes and started flipping through them so as to organize the things he would need to study first over the things he felt needed review.

Emily saw Atticus' new glasses as he walked in and couldn't help but smile. She thought that they made him look even cuter than before and this was a woman that hadn't ever been one to lose her breath when looking at a guy. She had always had her mind more on her studies and family than anything else. "Good Morning." She said with a smile. When he didn't even look at her her smile faded slightly as she wondered what she was supposed to have done this time. It was the first day of school and he was cold to her. When he pulled out text books she decided he must be up against a test of some sort so was probably just nervous. Everyone in school knew when Emily had been up against a test because she would yell easily and rip at her hair she would go so crazy. Her nerves were always so awful and she hated every minute of it. She was not a good tester and she knew that.

Ricky saw Professor Travis walk in and when he ignored Emily he shook his head and leaned in towards Scarlett. "And I thought they were getting along better. Sure Emily has been a little more guarded but even that was getting better. What do you think happened?"

Scarlett Eaves Scarlett glanced over at Professors Travis and Wixom and considered what could've happened that could've made Professor Travis ignore Professor Wixom as he had. "Your guess is as good as mine," Scarlett replied softly. "By the looks of things, Professor Travis seems a bit frazzled with something related to bookwork, so maybe stress is making him lose it?" She glanced again, considering her theory, and hoping that it wasn't anything more than simple stress.

Ricky nodded as he looked over at them again. "That's a definite possibility, but I think it's much more entertaining to think that Emily was caught breaking some kind of law and Professor Travis found out and is even more frustrated she's deputy Headmistress." Ricky smiled evilly as he thought of it. He knew it would never happen since Emily was too much of the good type but it was still fun to imagine. He slightly wished some others would hear it and start spreading it around as a rumor but he knew that was mean.

Scarlett Eaves Scarlett laughed quietly at Ricky's comment and said, "Aw that's mean, Ricky. But it'd be pretty funny if it was true, although it wouldn't be too great for Professor Wixom." Scarlett chuckled again, although she knew very well it was mean to laugh at someone's possible misfortune, but the fact that it was a possibility made it okay to laugh.

Scarlett laughing at it made it all that much funnier to Ricky and he had even harder time keeping from laughing. He quickly muttered to Scarlett again through his laughter. "I know, but it's not like it would ever really happen. It's just funny to think about." This set a new fit of giggles and Ricky put his hand tight over his mouth to keep from being too loud.
