So a while ago, on Deviantart, a friend of mine posted this interesting guide! It's called: Murk's Meaty Guide to Cannibalism! -trumpets play-
So, reading this, it really got me thinking! But before I tell you about it, you have to read it! Read it here.
Alright, you've read it. Neat, huh? Well, I think so. If you really think about it, this discussion can go two ways, and oh at the same time.
You can go the way of "hat's inhumane/gross/stupid." OR! You can go the way of "Wow! That would solve world hunger and-!"
So I want to know which direction you're pointed?
My opinion? I think it's an awesome idea. This style of cannibalism described would solve world hunger, kill off any unecessary vegetable people (who are using up our resources!).
Quoted directly from the article: "Euthanasia will be much more acceptable in a man-eat-man world; and many people in a vegetative state are being kept alive against their will. People without a conscious thought left in their tired old minds are using up our resources while others starve and die. We live in sick times." We do live in sick times! Thinking like that makes me wish this was in place.
Yeah, yeah, a lot of people are going to call me sick and twisted for this, but hey! That's what my debates are all about!
I am SmexyFur, also known as Dana, your new debate Crew member. I will be in charge around here now. C:< (Well, for the most part.)

I have to say the mere thought of cannibalism is horrifying. I even read through most of the article. I just couldn't finish it. I really tried but it was making me physically ill. It might be because of society teaching you that it is wrong; or it could be nature telling us that eating your own kind is bad. Maybe it's even a psychological thing. Eating other humans would force us to face death. We would constantly be reminded of our own mortality. Whatever the reason may be; I'm not and never will be okay with cannibalism.

We are animals, right? Animals eat other animals, of the same species. Animals eat their children sometimes. So what's to say that we couldn't do the same? But I do see where you're coming from. Interesting...

Yes, we are animals. Another fact that most of us love to deny. We do love to think that the laws of nature do not apply to us. For a 'more intelligent' species we sure are stupid. We don't seem to have the same survival instincts as just about any other non-domesticated animal.
I don't think that any other animal would allow itself to starve to death while there is perfectly good meat sitting right there. If a starving squirrel's mother died; the squirrel wouldn't bury her; it would eat her.
I would completely understand if a person in that position was forced to go there. I, however am not starving to death. It simply isn't necessary for me. Perhaps my views on the subject would change if I ran out of food and had no other options.

There are a lot of starving people in this world, and a lot of us who are dying, so why not? A lot of people say we should save them first, but I think we should start by saving ourselves first, you know? Those starving kids in African can wait until we've actually fixed something.

idk .. see what if we run out of people and then what are we gonna do... see i get the hole wasting resources... but could we do it a different way? We have the future still to us... there's defiantly going to be a tomorrow..( for the most part) but couldn't we find a different way... i wouldn't think cannibalism is the way to go.. because even if the "person" you were going to eat wanted to die.. its still a crime.. I'm looking at it like..why should i eat my friend she didn't do anything wrong..... so if it were no choice on who we were going to eat.. i wouldn't do it then EVER! but i see what you're saying to end world hunger would be HUGE but i don't think this would be the way...

Cannibalism is gross! Sure other animals eat their own, but we're better than that! Why do you think humans are practically the most intelligent animals in the world (I say practically only since there are dumb people and other animals are smarter than them). We were given this intelligence for a purpose. We were given the tools and resources to hunt other animals for food and nourishment, not for humans so we could just devour our population. I wanna see a world where we dont have to see people eating each other. save that for the zombie films

To me, eating people because they're elderly and take up resources is two steps away from gassing people because they're thought to be subhuman and taking up resources.

Cannibalism is one of mankind's most practical ideas. In tribal cannibalism, eating humans (which is the world's only infinately replenishable food supply) took the strain off of nature, so that the jungles and wildlife could flourish. When the white man took offense to it, and forced it to go away, and forced the tribal people to adopt our christian, capitalist ways, we inadvertently caused third world countries to develop.
Cannibalism is a good thing, if done in a tribal environment.

I actually think the opposite of the beneficial arguments would happen.
1. Eat Or Be Eaten--No one would ever go to a barber again for fear of ending up on the dinner menu. Black-market prime-rib-of-life is much better quality than some of the other options mentioned. As if one Sweany Todd wasn't enough!
2. Health For All--Health would likely take on the mass antibiotic/steroid option that we currently use for animals. Have you had your oral vaccines today?
3. Baby Boomer Back Ribs--Yuck, old, stringy, fatty people. I don't even like looking at them on the beach, much less the dinner table. More likely, the aging food-source would end up in dog or hog food, because no one would want to eat it.
4. Ration the Population of this Nation--Wide spread birth-control would work just as well, and be easier and more profitable for drug companies.
5. More White Flags--Who says we wouldn't fight to get the tastier people? What would you want to eat--lean third-world ribs or fat American chops? Everyone to the nearest embassy--the diplomats are already marinating themselves with martini's! If you're lucky, you'll get one with an apple already in his mouth.
6. Animal Versus Human Brutality--Turn humans into animals, and they'll be treated exactly the same way. Homosapian-Veal? Yes, an unethical delicacy.
7. The Body, The Earth and The Stars--Don't short-change all those who have lived lives of eco-responsibility. I don't want a posh, satin-lined mahogany coffin. Just roll my corpse into a pine box and plant me where I dropped. Maybe plant a cedar over my grave and it can suck all the calcium from my bones.
8. You Do The Crime, You Do The Time In The Oven--Many criminals are so riddled with drugs and disease they would be inedible.
9. Open Trade Routes--I'd rather eat home-grown than imported. It's fresher, and (at least in America) better quality.
All these arguments aside, I follow the OT's dietary laws. You know, no pork or ostrich but all the locusts you can eat! mrgreen
