I'll keep this thread updated for you whenever there's any more info released. EA has confirmed that Visceral Studios is at work on Dead Space 2, with the sci-fi sequel being confirmed for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC for release at an unspecified date.
The biggest difference fans will notice is Dead Space 2's location. Gone are the small, cramped corridors and hallways of the Ishimura mining vessel. Players will now find themselves in Sprawl, a space station built around one of Saturn's moon shards, and will introduce larger, more vast fighting areas.
Series protagonist Isaac Clarke is also getting a personality upgrade. This time around, he'll actually talk rather than just run around grunting and breathing heavily.
"He's a little bit more of a veteran, and he's going to have a voice," executive producer Steve Papoutsis told the magazine. "He's going to relate through dialogue and story, and have more of a take-charge attitude this time around."
The team is also set on revamping the pacing from the original. Rather than making players feel vulnerable throughout the entire game, the sequel promises times where players will feel superior, such as acquiring a new weapon. Fans will be given time to catch their breath throughout, which promises to add variety to the sequel's intensity.
The combat remains largely the same. Strategic dismemberment will be back. This time, however, the team will be adding new weapons, such as a javelin gun, that will hopefully deter players from always relying on the plasma cutter found in the original.
The developers confirmed there will be online components to Dead Space 2, but would not elaborate at this time.
"From the start of this project, we've had a team of people working on this. It's a core feature to the game; we're taking it very serious, as we do with anything in the Dead Space franchise, said Papoutsis. "All I can say is that it's really fun, and you'll get to strategically dismember your friends."

Which is good news, seeing as the first one was kind of crappy and short in comparison to what the end product. And here's an awesome new trailer! Some new screens for the game, here they are. I've been talking about Dead Space II ever since Janruary's issue of GameInformer. I'm excited for the new multiplayer, but they also added that it might be more action than horror. They also stated that you won't be under the influence that you might run out of ammo any time soon. You're gonna have points in the game where you find a treasure full of ammo and supplies, and then you might come to a point where you'll have to fight off a horde for 5-10 mins straight. They said it's gonna test your gaming abilities to the limit, and for that I'm excited. I can't wait. I hope it comes out soon this year and doesn't have the dang extension to the release like some other big hits.

Hard Ashe I've been talking about Dead Space II ever since Janruary's issue of GameInformer. Glad to see somebody else as excited as I am. Or, at least, was..Hard Ashe ... they also added that it might be more action than horror. They also stated that you won't be under the influence that you might run out of ammo any time soon ... This is what is putting me off.
Dead Space was all about the claustrophobic horror, that was why I loved it so damn much. This has seriously put me off buying the game.
I'll probably be sucked in again closer to release, but the mental image is still badly damaged.

I'm sure they're gonna keep you under suspense of when the next ambush of Necromorph will happen, but I'm also sure that you won't have to worry about getting bored of just running through a hall way and nothing happen. They got something up their sleves. We just have to wait, ya know?

I can't wait for Dead Space 2, I heard that Isaac has finally stopped taking orders and started to give them, finally! I'm also really excited for the multi-player, I just hope they pull it off right.

Yeah. Issac does have a voice. I think they said something about there being times when you're going around with little survivor packs where you tell them to do stuff and they go take care of it. You gotta remember that Issac was affected by the Relic in the ship and he's a little crazy in the head. In matter of fact where you start off is in a hospital room, if I remember correctly

I forgot. They're gonna make it, so that you can now fight in 0 gravity instead of the basic leap.
