Black rites began in earnest, ignite Hells hungry furnace... Stage 1 - Naught
This is what you receive first: A blank, ball-jointed doll-body. It's unique that the entire thing seems to be carved from the same wood, which is slightly-fragrant with the faint scent of spice. The Naught does not move, does not talk, is completely inanimate, although some may sense a strange, almost ghost-like aura around its wooden body. Requirements to Achieve: None; This is the default. Naught Obtained Stage 2 - VerstecktA locked "treasure box"... although, it doesn't always look like a box, per se. Within the box lies a soul, one which - if all goes well - will animate your Naught someday soon. The Vessel itself is unbreakable, at least without also smashing the fragile soul within, and the appearance of the container will hint at the Vessel's contents. Requirements to Achieve:* Own a Naught with a first-page-setup-completed Journal*Complete your 'Meeting with ..." RP with the NPCs. Versteckt Obtained Stage 3 - PortalA key... But not just any key. This key is found after an arduous journey through a restless Sanctum: The mental world of the soul you wish to capture. Success grants you the Portal, which will unlock your Vessel at last. The Portal, like the Vessel, is unique to each future Haltia, and only the Guardian, the specified NPCs, and the Haltia can hold it. Requirements to Achieve:* Complete at least one OPR* Have IC Journal-entries depicting your Guardian's reaction to receiving the Naught, being given the Versteckt, and on the Last Memory.* Successfully complete the Last Memory RP with NPC assistance. Portal Obtained
Stage 4 - VesselYour Portal has unlocked the Versteckt, and you are now able to see the soul that you'll be caring for. At this point the sphere will be fairly tough, so it's recommended that guardians carry the soul-sphere close to their heart whenever possible; this will provide the semi-dormant spirit within the soul-sphere with ambient energy, which it will need to evolve. Requirements to Achieve:* Complete at least one completed PRP or ORP* A Journal entry, at least 400 words in length, in which describes your guardian opening the Vessel and gaining access to the soul-sphere Vessel Obtained Stage 5 - PeriCongratulations! You have successfully helped to create a living, walking, talking, thinking animate doll. The Peri will seem more automaton than human, as their memories of the past will be clouded and hazy at best, so during this time Guardians are encouraged to interact heavily with their charge. Peri are roughly 70 centimeters or 27.5 inches in height, and feel heavier than one would expect as they are made of an exceptionally dense hardwood. However, because of this they'll be very difficult to damage. If fully clothed, a Peri might pass for some kind of smaller humanoid, although there seems to be something different about them... Requirements to Achieve:* Complete at least two completed PRPs or ORPS. * Two 'day-in-the-life' Journal entries about your Guardian, going about his or her day * Complete the 'Merging Body & Soul' RP with one of the NPCs. * One Journal-entry, at least 800 words in length, describing how your initial meeting with your Peri went. Stage 6 - TransitYour Haltia is now fully-grown! That is, he or she has regained the memories of life, including those of their own death and that of the desire that even death couldn't erase. Also, they've been rewarded with a brand-new, human-sized body! It's still wooden, of course, but it's almost impossible to tell. Their emotions (and attitudes...) are fully apparent, and they can fall in hate, fall in love, even - in a way - reproduce! Of course, there's still their all-important dream... Requirements to Achieve:* Complete in at least five PRPs or ORPs. * Participate IC in at least one Event. * At least six Journal entries describing the growing awareness of your Haltia, their Desire, ect. * Complete 5 number of combat quests * Completing the 'Physical Upgrade' RP with NPC Alain

The Naught
Date: xx/xx/2009Today Miles came to see me after work. Poor guy seemed like a fish out of water but we got some drinks anyway and he seemed to loosen up a little. I was going to use the paycheck I got that night to take him out to a few more bars, show him a good time, y'know? But he surprised me with a late birthday present. It was a really beautiful ball jointed doll. The details were amazing! The odd thing was, he told me that the one he owned came to life...? And that I as fated to help this one regain his life and fulfill his final wish. Well, I was pretty sure he'd been hitting the bars before he came to see me. But...y'know...I believed him in a way. It sounds crazy but I can't help but feel that this little doll has a life of it's own. As I'm writing this I can feel him staring at me. (He's setting on the shelf behind me, if you're wondering.) I just...don't know. Miles told me he'd take me to meet a "gypsy man" tomorrow. I kind of wish I'd could meet the artist...but oh well. Now, if you'll excuse me, since I didn't get to go barhopping tonight, I might hit my stash of spirits I have saved back for special occasions. Maybe I'll have a little drinking buddy if this guy really dose come to life.... The Versteckt and the Last MemoryDate: xx/xx/2009So, I just got back from the mansion today. It really was a nice place and the surrounding forest was beautiful. Miles was kind enough to show me the way. When we got there, he had to leave me to help the maid. I felt a bit awkward after he left... I met the gypsy man. He gave me this small box he called a Versteckt. It's as beautiful as the doll. Lots of ornate details, shiny black wood with silver accents. I wounder what could be inside of it? Then something weird happened. The gypsy man, Sivian, took off his eye patch and the next thing I know we were in some other house! I didn't notice it at first, since the furnishings were so much alike. I got to see this little guys memories and it made me...sad. Really sad. His only friends killed him... I started painting the plague ridden town I saw there. Empty, accept for the homeless dieing of in the streets and men collecting corpses. The houses of the sick were marked, which meant every house had a mark on it more or less. There was smoke, from pyres that they used to burn the dead bodies I suppose. It was a strange and eerie sight. I think when I finish it I'll put it up though, so Nero won't see it. I don't really want to upset him. I want to help him now, with whatever his last wish may be. I want to give him a happier existence then the one he he knew before he died. I think I'm going to try and open the box tomorrow. Tonight...well, I think I'm going to drink up the last of my alcohol. I need it.

Opening the Box Date: xx/xx/2009 I woke up around three in the after noon today. I don't remember much of last night after writing in my journal. I suppose watching Neros last memories had more of an effect on me than I thought. Speak of the devil, Nero was beside me, when I woke up actually. I laid there and held him for a bit. I just feel so sorry for the guy, y'know? It's a good thing this is a private private journal...
I ate something to settle my stomach and took some aspirin, so I'm feeling a bit more up to snuff. I've got Nero, the Versteckt and the key here on my bed now. I said I was going to open the Versteckt...so I am. If some bad happens to me, hopefully someone will find this journal and know what exactly happened. DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH MY STUFF TONY OR I'LL COME BACK AND HAUNT YOU!With that Giger set aside her journal, picking up the Versteckt and setting it in her lap. "Alright..." she mumbled, taking a deep breath. She was more than a little apprehensive about this. After everything that had happened after getting the doll, she was worried about what kind of strange things could happen after opening this box and she was hoping she wouldn't have to go through something like she had at the mansion. She'd gathered all of the information she wanted to know about Neros last memories that day. Gathering her courage, she stuck the key in the lock, turning it. Nothing. The key didn't budge. "Come ooooon..." she growled quietly, putting a bit more force into turning it this time. After several minutes of grunting and turning the box this way and that, she sat back against the head board of he bed, sighing. She closed her eyes for a few minutes, drumming her fingers against the lid of the box. "Alright!" she grumbled, a determined look on her face as she sat up again. "I can't help you if you won't open!" Sticking the key in the box again, she tried to turn the key again. There was a soft click as the it turned. Staring at the box, Giger reached a slightly trembling hand out to open the lid. She paused for a second, her heart beating quickly. Stealing herself, she flinched, lifting the lid. After a few minutes, she looked down slowly and as she did, her breath caught in her chest. In the box, cradled by black crushed velvet, was a tiny little yellow sphere. She picked it up gingerly, holding it up to the light and admiring it. "There..." she breathed, looking over at the naked doll beside of her. "That wasn't too hard, was it....?"

A Day in the Life Date: xx/xx/2009Woke up late today, as always. Grabbed a pastry and headed to class. I showed my teacher the painting of Neros town, he said he liked it a lot. My buildings could have used some work and my smoke was a bit too dark. I've never been good with buildings anyway, hah! After class I visited a few friends in the metal working classes and showed them the little sphere I got out of my box last night. I asked them if they could fashion it into any thing I could wear on my chest or around my neck. This thing IS supposed to be near my hear, isn't it? They manged to wrap some wire around it and put it on a chain. I've worn it ever since. Tucked away, of course, jewelry just doesn't suit me y'know? I also showed both my sculpting teacher and fine arts teacher my naught. They were blown away! But I mean, who wouldn't be? My sculpting teacher said she'd never even seen this type of wood before. I want to meet the artist who carved this doll even more now. Headed home and tossed Nero on the bed and grabbed a quick dinner. I wasn't really all that hungry when I got home, which is weird. My stomach felt a bit uneasy, actually. Then it was home work and then off to NAUGHT. I...don't think Nero was too happy with being tossed on the bed and left there. I felt uneasy the whole time I was doing my homework. I kept glancing over my shoulder at him, I could feel him glaring at me. I have a bit of a hard time sleeping with him, too. I'm always afraid that if I don't watch him he'll scamper off somewhere and I don't want to think about what he'd be doing. I don't want to have him near me though, either. As much as I hate to say it. I feel like, if I go to sleep, he might do... something...to me. It's odd, I've never been put off by dolls before and he didn't seem that bad in his memories. Nana told me that it would pass when we all had dinner at Miles house, that when he finally gains life that he'll seem less creepy. She already seems so close to her naught...and Miles and Hime get on beautifully. I can only hope Nero and I will too, when he wakes up because right now, all I get is an angry, hateful feeling. Speaking of Nana, good Lord. I need to get that lady to cook for me sometime! Best pasta I'd ever had! Anyway, look at me rambling on, I need to get to work! I'm hoping if I bring something back for Nero that he'll be a bit less cross with me.
