Mark walked to his desk, wearied. He had stayed up all night the previous night... practicing his mage skills. He had heard of the Holy Grail Wars, but was completely surprised when one of the servants for this event had appeared before him. It had been during an experiment of his, which went badly wrong, and he found himself not only exhausted but injured as well. He winced, remembering the pain. Somehow, this servant had the power to heal him, but it had taken her over five hours to do so, as his wounds were of a moderate level. He remembered the way this servant had first looked at him, with a little disgust, then... recognition, maybe? She had been friendly enough, but she made it clear that if he tried to baby her, she would skewer him. He smiled faintly. He knew that she stood right next to him, in spirit form, and that no one could see or touch her. It felt... sort of comforting.

ΩΩArtemisΩΩ Artemis didn't know what to make of her new master. He had acted kindly enough, but he was a mere boy. How would he be able to harness her abilities in such a way that they ould be able to win the Holy Grail War? He hadn't even truly summoned her. It seemed that Alaya had an agenda for this boy. She knew that he had some skill with mageskills, but he was reckless, and nearly killed himself before she showed up. Again, she didn't know how they were to win. Then again, it wasn't truly her job to win. She was a Counter Guardian, sent to keep the balance of the world. A great evil had been sensed, and she had been sent to quell it. It was her job to make sure the world stayed in balance, no matter the consequences. She saw him smile, and she felt the same feelings that she had felt the night before. He... reminded her of Markus. Even his name was similar. but this boy, she convinced herself, could not be anything like her loyal companion milennia ago. He might prove himself to be skilled enough. But he was just a boy.

No matter how comforted he felt, however... there was one thing that he knew. He had no interest in the holy Grail War, but he had to keep this a secret from his servant, knowing that she was only there because she had some desire that she wanted the Holy grail to fulfill. He would help her to that end, or die trying. His father had made it clear to him that if he lost his servant, he would most likely be next to go. Even still... it was as if she was using magic to calm him. He felt no fear, even knowing that every fight would be to the death. He looked to his side, where his Archer would be standing. Then he realized... she had to have a name, right? She wasn't just called Archer. He had gotten the feeling that was just her class name, since she had shown that she wielded a bow. He vowed to ask what her name was before the day gave way to night.

The final bell rang, and Mark decided he would go home right away. He and Archer had some things to discuss: strategy, her powers and capabilities, her name... what to have for dinner... He gathered up his supplies, waved at a couple of his friends, "I'm just going to go home, right now... got some stuff to do!" They answered back good-naturedly, joking about his 'secret girlfriend.' He laughed it off, but his thoughts instantly went to Archer. He would've been lying if he said he didn't think she was beautiful, but there was something about her that made him want to keep his distance. He walked from the class door, and headed towards the exit.

ΩΩArtemisΩΩ Artemis followed him patiently. She could feel that at least in their direct surroundings, there wasn't any danger. She felt a little bemused at the playful tones her master and his friends used. It had been so long since she'd ever shared a joke with someone... Not that it mattered. Mortals would be mortals, and how they were shouldn't affect her. Once they were outside of the school, she decided to materialize herself in civilian clothing. She knew that they were heading home, and thought it smarter to show that Mark wasn't alone. She dressed like how she thought a normal girl would: a t-shirt, denim jacket, and jeans. She wore tennis shoes as well. "Where to, Mark?"

Mark jumped, a mixture of confusion, horror, and pleasure washed over him. His servant, Archer stood in front of him, looknig very much like a normal human girl. He knew being seen with her would 1. create a huge number of rumors about his personal life, 2. gratify his friends' jokes about his imaginary girlfriend, and 3. probably cause the other masters to notice her. Of course... whne he looked at her, he didn't feel anything abnormal, so perhaps she was completely disguised as a human? "Archer?" he asked in a whisper.

ΩΩArtemisΩΩ "Yes, it's me," smiled Artemis. Her smile widened at his look. He obviously hadn't been expecting to see her. She didn't know why, but it felt sort of good, seeing him in such shock. After she had her fun, she looked around. There were many students milling around, but none had seemed to notice her materialization. That was good. Of course, she had done it in a location where a watcher would have been hard pressed to see her appear, so it wasn't a surprise. "Shall we be getting to your house?"

"Yes... let's go home," he nodded. He stared into her eyes, which were a deep blue color... so deep that he felt if he stared long enough, he would drown. "There are some things that i would like to discuss with you." He walked down towards his house.
