Sunset Dust hummed softly as she scampered across the snow, tail wiggling with excitement. As she came to one of the hills she suddenly threw herself into the air, laughing. She landed with a small thump and a large skid across the slippery, snow-covered earth and was suddenly rolling down the hill with shouts of cheer.
The little mistling loved the snow, though it could be said she loved anything that brought her fun and entertainment. When she finally came to a stop at the bottom of the hill she was sprawled out on her back, breathing heavily and one paw was resting on her chest. "Ooo~ooh.." She cried out, her paws moving to her head to 'steady' it as everything seemed to be spinning.
But she was good in another few minutes and laughing again, rolling to her feet.

Frosty Merriment went out today looking for something fun, something awesome, or something exciting to do. He'd gone to see his friend Shade Eye only to be disappointed by the fact that his good friend had to 'stay home and take care of his new baby'.
"Babies.." He snorted as waded through a particular high patch of snow. He left a wide wake behind him, swinging his body from side to side only to make it wider. Maybe if anyone cool was around they could find him.
Of course he stood out like a sore thumb anyway amongst all the white surrounding him.
He glanced up the snowy hills as the terrain raised in front of him and he heard sounds of jubilation. Off to his left there came a shriek of joy and then a rolling explosion of snow.
"Ha!" Someone was having fun! Merry shut his mouth and ducked under the snow while the female (which he just realized) caught her breath. She may or may not have seen his tail waving above the snow bank, only the slightest warning, before he leapt and tackled her for a playful tussle.
It didn't occur to him that she may not want to be tackled or played with by a complete stranger!

She had just closed her eyes and her breath was almost even when she felt the thud of another creature on top of her, causing quite a screech to spill past her mouth. "Don't eat me!" She yelled out as her eyes flared open, though the moment she recognized the familiar characteristics of her own species and registered the 'ha' that had spilled from his own lips just moments before she was pounced she started to laugh, obviously not at all offended that some stranger had just tackled her.
She batted lightly at his face with a paw, eyes wide but friendly. "You scared me!" She squeaked, sounding astounded. Of course, she wasn't very observant in her day to day life (even if she believed herself to be so). It just so happened that she liked surprising other mistlings as well, and hardly ever was surprised by others. "It was so good!" She chirped. "Perfect timing too... I thought you were something that ate mistlings!" She didn't really know what, but certainly a monster. "I would have been done for, for sure!" And at that she erupted into another fit of giggles.

Not only did he surprise her.. but she was totally into it!
"What? But I am a big scary monster! Arrrgghh!" He play growled while the strange female batted at his face. He batted her back, blue paws tapping her in the ears and cheeks before he rolled off and into the surrounding snow with an "OOF!"
Judging by her comments, Merry was already sure that this one was totally into him. He sat up with a small pile of snow on his head and blinked his mismatched eyes at her.
"It was pretty awesome huh?" He shook the snow onto her. "I'm Frosty Merriment. You can call me Merry.. or Frosty.. or Manmeat.. you know.. whatever." He gave her sly wink of his green eye and wiggled his brows.
"What can I call you, pretty eyes?" Merry loves the ladies.

She shrieked good naturally when he play growled at her, swinging at his paws to try and block the hits. As he rolled off she rolled in the opposite direction, righting herself and shaking the dusty snow from her coat before glancing toward him. Her eyes narrowed slightly and her tail flicked, mischief planted firmly on her features. She was going to get him back, certainly!
But then he introduced himself, and she guessed it would be pretty rude to tackle him without first giving her own calling. "Merry!" She yipped, giggling slightly because she thought his name was cute. It certainly suited him, but she supposed that was the point.
The wink didn't seem to phase her as she pounced a bit near to him, splashing up the powdery snow. Pretty eyes! She liked her eyes too, she loved staring into pools of water and just watching them. "But your eyes are stunning!" She said her thought out loud, grinning at him. She meant that he should hardly be calling her pretty eyes when he had much nicer ones! "But yeah, I'm Sunset Dust... ho~hum.." She trailed off, thinking.
"I've never gotten a nickname before! So anything sounds good, right?" And now that introductions were over she was throwing herself at him, looking to redeem herself.

"Sunset Dust, hmm.." He tilted his head and gave her a sly look. "I'll stick with callin you Pretty Eyes. Or maybe even Sunny..."
He looked slightly surprised when she complimented his eyes. He'd never heard the word 'stunning' used in reference to him.. EVER. He laughed and tried to hide his face behind his paw when she splashed snow at him and it was just that distraction that allowed Sunny to tackle him herself.
Merry was flat on his back now, pinned by this female, and laughing. "You got me!!" He wriggled and rolled, trying to get her off of him and laughing all the while.
"Oh oh time out!" He waved his paws and tugged her ear gently to get her attention. "Snow is awesome! Let's make Snow Mistys!"
He waved his arms in the snow, waved his legs, and even wiggled his ears. It was the Mistling version of a Snow Angel!!

She was slightly amused at the fact that he just might stick to 'pretty eyes', but in no way embarrassed. She didn't quite understand when other Mistlings became suddenly shy or reserved or... well whatever it was they did that indicated they were feeling uncomfortable.
As they landed on the ground she beamed at him, bopping his nose with a paw. "bwhah~!" A mock laugh came from her mouth a she nipped and batted at his wiggling body before he started to call time out! As he ear was tugged she grew still, her head cocked slightly yo the side. As she sat on top of him he began to wave his arms, legs and even his ears. "Snow misties~" She squeaked, looking thrilled with the idea. "The best!" She added, before hopping off of her new found friend and flopping onto her own back.
"Bet mine comes out better than yours!" She boasted, all in a good natured way. "I am a pro at making snow misties! So you better take that bet wisely.." and then she started to laugh more, thinking this was probably one of the most fun days she's had in weeks!

Merry furiously pushed the snow around with his limbs, an expression of concentration on his face to make sure his snow misty looked awesome. He made sure to push his head into the snow and tried his best to make his ears leave marks as well.
When he was done he lay still for a second, trying to figure out the best way to get up without messing up his creation. He shifted slightly to side, then to the other as he judged his options. He wondered if there was anyway to leap straight up from his back..
Merry wiggled his toes in preparation, "One.. Two.. Three!" He launched himself out of his snowy spot, only just barely missing having the whole thing get smeared and messed up. Of course he landed in another pile of snow and after his short launch all he could do was laugh at himself.
"How's it look?!" Shaking himself off, Merry walked over to admire his masterpiece. It was a little rough looking but he liked it anyway! With one of his tiny toes he drew a happy face in the snow right where the face would be.
"Tada!!"

Dust had to remind herself every pawful of seconds not to whip her tail back and forth furiously in excitement, less she wanted to ruin her snow mistie and lose all hope at winning!
She heard his count of three and squeaked, slowing and then coming to a complete stop before laying there a moment, cautiously glancing over. "Done already?" She pouted, but after a moment she started to roll over backwards, carefully. When she had enough air between her and the snowy ground, besides her head and her front paws, she sprung backwards and had a slightly off balance landing, stumbling to the side. "Me too!" She said cheerfully.
Though the way she'd gotten up had messed up the head of her snow mistie slightly it was still very clean and almost graceful looking. "Wooo~rk of art!" She giggled, racing toward Merry and bumping into him playfully. "Oh wow, yours looks good too!" She watched as he drew a face and laughed, "Put one on mine too!!' She wasn't demanding, just hopeful. She was sure if she tried drawing even a smile it would ruin it pretty badly.
"I bet everyone who passes through will be impressed!"

Merry padded around to look at Dust's snow mistie. He tilted his head as if her were admiring a famous work of art. "Hmmm Hmmm.. It's lovely but missing something.."
He stepped forward, careful not to muss the edges, and took his toe to draw a face on hers. He made the eyes a little bigger (his attempt to show her pretty eyes) and made the mouth slightly more happy than the face on his own.
"Now it's perfect!" Both of their snow misties stared at them from the snow with their permanent expressions of joy.
"You're fun, Pretty eyes." Merry gave the female a wink. "Usually I come out with my friend but he had a baby.." He made a groaning face, "So now he's all domestic and not fun!"
Merry had never given thought to children. He loved the ladies but he loved being free even more.

Dust almost puffed up as she watched him studying her snow mistie, it felt nice to have her mistie admired like that! As he moved closer to her mistie she moved up beside him, ears perking slightly as she watched with wide eyes as he added the final needed touches. She giggled slightly as she spotted the bigger eyes, actually understanding why he was doing it, and grinned more when the smile was placed on.
"Perfect!" Her word overlapped his last and she laughed, tail flicking into the snow. She glanced to his again, then back to hers, finally back to his before nodding. "They look like a pair! Anyone who sees them will be jealous, for sure they will think whoever made these snow misties were having tons of fun!" But what sort of mistling didn't enjoy making snow misties during the white season?
Dust laughed when he called her pretty eyes again, she couldn't get over it. "You too Merry!" But her smile slipped into more of puzzlement with his next words, her head tilted slightly. "He had a bab... OH! Like... with a girl? Are they mates? can't he come have fun while she watches the baby?" She made a frowning face, never really giving thought to being a mother just because.
He was right, that didn't sound like fun. "That sounds like a lot of hard work if he can't even come play.." She stuck her tongue out, making a silly face of mock disgust. "Do you miss him? It's alright! I can play all the time, I don't have a baby!" She giggled and bumped him, before turning and starting to dash up the hill. "Race ya to the top!" She shouted, deciding some belly sledding was in order to take his mind off of such serious matters.

"They only met the one time.." Merry scratched his ear a little and swished his tail. "He said she was nice and they had fun.. Just the one day. And then a little while later a baby was on his doorstep." Merry thought that had to be terrible. He had to be careful with Pretty Eyes here.. Who knew what could happen!
"He said they had 2 babies. She's taking care of one and he's taking care of the other. He has help from his flyer a little." Merry didn't have a flyer but he wanted to meet one soooooo bad.
"I'll go see him later. Hopefully you can meet him sometime. He's a nice guy! He's blind in one eye.. how weird is that?!" Merry snorted a laugh. His friend never minded his disability being talked about so Merry never felt bad while doing it.
Merry accepted her bump and laughed, serious matters falling away from his mind almost instantaneously. "Oh no ya don't!!" He took off after her, doing his best to leap over the powdery snow. It was just deep enough where it was work for them to take steps.
Merry managed to catch up just enough where he could reach out and tug her tail, not too hard, but enough where he could sprint ahead. "Aha!!"

She made another confused face. They only met once? How did that work... She didn't think she really wanted to know. She stumbled as she ran, feeling slightly anxious. "What kind of fun?" She didn't really want to know, but she also didn't want to wake up pregnant tomorrow morning!
As he tugged her tail she squealed and stumbled, actually falling to her stomach as she slipped but she was laughing and quickly scrambling back to her paws to catch back up. Still, he made it up first and when she got to him she skid to a stop, panting and laughing. Her laughter died though and instead she looked very sad. "You mean they aren't a family?" That seemed wrong to her. "They should be taking care of the babies together... OH! A FLYER~" Still, she was easily distracted!
"That's so cool! Oh man... I want one too! Think of all the cool places you can go and all the neat things you can do... awww man and now he has a baby so he can't even fly to awesome places anymore! What a waste... MAYBE he'll let you borrow his flyer for a while!" Of course, she was thinking Merry would let her have a go if that actually happened. "Just until the baby grows up a bit.."
She covered one eye as he talked about his friend being blind, looking around. "How did he get blind in only one eye?"

Merry just shrugged when Dust asked about the dynamics of making baby mistlings. He didn't think about that kind of stuff.... yet.
"When it's warm we should go looking for baby flyers!!" he practically was shaking in excitement. "The younger you meet them, the better!!"
He pranced around her in a circle, occasionally wiping snow off of her with the tip of his tail. "Red Breast, thats the bird, would NEVER let me fly him. I don't think he likes me very much." Merry snickered a little but it was clear he wished for a flyer of his own. "He's really defensive of Shade Eye. That's my friend's name."
Merry sat on his butt now that she was all cleaned off. "I don't know. it's been like that since I met him. Can you be born that way?" Merry, for just a second, had thought to tell her an elaborate tale of battle but that would be a lie. Fun.. but a lie. He liked this girly!!

"Oh! Oh, you promise you'll look for flyers with me?" She sounded fairly excited about the idea, she wondered why she hadn't thought of it herself ages ago. Still, going on a quest with a friend was much cooler than going by yourself! "Or even a clutch of eggs!" She added, eyes wide. Though after a minute her face fell. "Of course... that wouldn't be very nice to the momma flyer, would it? Unless we asked nicely!" Her tone had gone from upset straight back to amazed and delighted when she thought of asking the mother flyer.
She sat patiently and grinned at Merry as he pranced about, eyes following him until he'd end up behind her. She was very thankful he was getting the rest of the snow off of her. "Why wouldn't he like you!" She sounded dumbfounded. "You are very likable! I like you already... and you attacked me before we even met!" She started to laugh, just teasing him a bit. "Shade Eye... he sound's awesome!" She nodded. "Maybe you can get him to play with us once his baby is grown a bit..."
Dust lounged back when he was finished cleaning her off, head tilted up so she could look at the thick, grey clouds gathering. "Hmm... born blind? I dunno... sounds possible though!" She shut her eyes for a moment, trying to feel what a blind mistling would feel. "Good thing only one of his eyes is blind... I bet having both eyes blind feels very lonely.." She said slowly, trying her best to keep her eyes shut. It was hard being surrounded by all of that black!
