If you have evidence that anyone who has authority over you is taking advantage of you or abuses their power, get rid of them.

Political Authority: Defined as "a monopoly over the use of violence in a geographical territory".
Challenging this is simply the introduction of your own violence and your own contending for the use of violence.

Challenging authority is important. Buddha requested that we challenge authority, even his own. Meaning, all ideas are valid, if logical and reasonable. Hold no man an idol, that leads to idiocy and laziness.

Authority should never ever be left untouched and unconsidered. That is my opinion. Having said that, challenging it just for the sake of it is unproductive and does you no favours with the authority. I try to give credit where it is due, and criticism elsewhere. I do this to the extent that I play devils advocate a lot.
In a practising political sense, the methods of challenging authority we have are elections, where we replace unwanted authority, strikes & civil disobedience which vary in tenacity and legality, and violence which manifests in assassination, rebellion, etc. I value the former two a lot.
In a social sense, being disobedient to your parents, teachers etc can be... disadvantageous and is inadvisable but, sometimes you have to do it to express yourself. Sometimes authority figures are unfair, after all.
Intellectually, challenges manifest themselves as debates, criticisms and on the odd occasion, violence. I would hope however, the we stick to the former two.

I can no longer be... Time to handle things the civilized way, with violence.
Organized society is a funny way of saying a bunch of tinier organized groups, mixed with bands, mixed with towns, cities, states, to make a "society".
We're like computers, the closer we are together, the more we learn, argue, inter exchange information and the like, but we still look out for out own best interests and ideas.
Society is this ludicrous concept that we must replace our own innate behaviours with that which is adopted by the society that we're forced to coexist with. So, naturally, changing/challenging that society with your own ideals and beliefs, behaviours, is quite ideal in my opinion. A cog in the American death machine....

divineseraph Challenging authority is important. Buddha requested that we challenge authority, even his own. Meaning, all ideas are valid, if logical and reasonable. Hold no man an idol, that leads to idiocy and laziness. And its that kind of thinking that is the reason post-modernism exists. There is truth in ideas. Not all ideas are valid. You know that fat shithead's "truism" to be on the contrary; False.. You have dis-proven this in the way you act. You cling helplessly to your ******** ideas that the world is just going to give up money. What worse is that you think it can happen in one country. You accept no other alternative because you find your belief to be the right one. You obviously didn't work for it. No economic specifics. No science, no philosophy. And its rightfully so. Now that you have found your truth, there is no more work to be done. No. Lets go further. You don't want to work, you don't want to act, you don't want to formulate a plan because you don't want to admit that you could be wrong. You don't want to see if the result is positive because that takes work. And work is something lazy people don't like to do, or perhaps, something idiots are incapable of doing. Now to deal with the general nature of this thread. It is a Hero has pointed out. Rebellion against authority is authority. That's what a revolution is: where one part of society imposes its will upon the other. Yes authority should be questioned, but to not participate in it is stupid.

You are thinking of Amitabha Buddha, the Jesus of Free Land Buddhism. I am talking about Siddhartha, the original, intellectual altruistic Buddha. Your idea is incorrect in that you assume things true that are not. Hence a logical fallacy. Note that I said that ideas, to be valid, have to be logical and reasonable to be considered. You're pretty much just spewing hate-speak riddled with logical fallacies, including but not limited to ad hominem, straw man, red herring and false cause. I will now direct you to my prior posts.

On another note, am currently fighting for my PC's life against viruses and shitty NVIDIA's 195.62 update and rolling back to 190.62. Here's hoping I have a pc to talk to you guys with in 5 minutes time. For knowledge! A cog in the American death machine....

USS Endeavor I would like my comrades thoughts on the most important aspect of any organized society, Challenging Authority! In order for the society to mature the citizens need to have equal opportunity to organize and advocate civilly for their belief in regard to the course society should take. The state should operate as a means of conveying and executing the will of the populous. In any society where this does not exist the silenced should revolt for their interests. Unfortunately many nations that claim to offer equal means for the people to civilly advocate their beliefs do not actually provide it primarily due to capitalist abstraction of what is equal and a lack of comprehension by the people.

As a soldier, you will understand that violence is the way, and indeed the only way of human beings. Do as I have done and embrace this fundamental fact! It's really fun ^_____^
