Dude king arthur was a girl in the anime. So it doesn't matter. That "real name" thing is a real person I looked up but I changed the name and made it a girl. She's my gf so I helped her out with this.

the only reason queen Arthur was a girl was because she wasn't dead. Servants(heroic spirits) are summoned biased on how they were believed to be not by how they actually were. as queen Arthur wasn't dead she wasn't a heroic spirit and thus was able to be her REAL body and thus retain her memories from each war to the next. she was an ABSOLUTE unique example. the moment she actually got the holy grail she would have died and from then on been summoned as a guy. now i know its already approved but you made it my job to tell you if something would work and dear god this is pretty much imposable....the man wrote an AUTOBIOGRAPHY. this is like me wanting to summon Abraham Lincoln....as a Mexican schoolgirl....into the berserker class.

Heroic spirits are not completely what people believe them to be! They still retain much of who they were as the person they were while alive. A heroic spirit may be influenced by what people thought of them, but at the heart they are the same person. And King Arthur wasn't the singular example. The Counter Guardians also retained their memories. Furthermore, this is a fictional guild based on a fictional storyline. We can be flexible with tiny things like 'how the heroic spirits are formed'. It's no fun just sticking to every detail, there's no creativity in that. Miyamoto Musashi indeed wrote an autobiography, but couldn't a girl have written from a man's viewpoint? In traditional japanese culture, the women were capable of reading and writing.

Actually if you want to get technical, KING Aruthur was always a boy, when the story of camelot was first written, (( Which is actually a fictional story,)) King Arthur was a guy he was never a girl and IF you really want to get really correct Arther being a man had sex with his sister, his wife, his cousin and eventually was betrayed by his best friend and his wife. >.>This all true by the way, and the autobiography part, well as Arturia said, we can never be sure if it was a woman who wrote it, because during that period of time, men were supposivley not able to read and write for they had their wives to do it for them. Which makes this character possible, ALSO if someone beliweved that this person was a woman, by the way he wrote the biography or the way he looked or something of that sort, then this is possible.
