Usually there’s a lot to be done on big houses. There are plenty of rooms that need to be cleaned, great gardens that need to be watered; infinite dust that won’t get rid of itself… perhaps some horses would need food too? And if the house is inhabited by a lot of people they would need a lot of food! Some one would have to cook all of it. How about the bills and the mails? Someone would have to go to the city to pick them up because the post-office man would not deliver them in the middle of the forest.

So, there’s a lot to be done in great houses, right? Not really. The above only applies when you have someone on your back screaming “have you cleaned the living room?” or “ have you cooked?” but in this very specific case the master of the place that were known as the black&white manor was not very active. To be precise, he was hardly seen by anyone so there was not much to be done at all in that place. But the employees couldn’t just sit and watch the grass grow; instead, they used to walk around the house waiting for something to happen or for something needing to be done.

But today, they were waiting for someone special.

Fritz expected a penthouse or maybe a house in a gated community, but this? He never pictured anything like this!

Before him stood the Black & White Manor, a place he had only heard about from other locals like himself. He had never actually been there. No one had. Or if someone did, they never actually talked about it. That sort of thing was kept secret, or talked about in hushed tones. There had also been wild claims about the mansion, or so he had heard. Kids in town claimed it to be haunted, and he could understand why they would think so. The architecture of the place reminded him of some sort of horror novel.

Yet, still, it didn't seem to faze him. The only thing that awed him was the sheer size and grandeur of the grounds. Everything was ornate. Ornate and intriguing to look at. Before he dawdled too much by just gazing at the outside of the manor, Fritz made sure to get done what he had come there to do: to talk to the vendor's master, and to inquire more not only about the doll, but the strange box he had been given.

Perhaps it was some sort of clue to the lifeless toy? Well, Fritz would just have to wait and see, wouldn't he?

Inside the manor, the maid girl saw Fritz and waved, probably he didn’t see her at all, but she just waved anyway.

”Is it him?” Sivan, the dark-skinned man from the other day had just come from another room, he was waiting for his guest. No, his master’s guest, but since he was never there the guest was he’s.

”Yes, he’s at the door, Should I go meet him?” The blond maid asked, adjusting her glasses.

” No” He said and smiled. “ Go makes us some tea, please. I will take care of him”

“Surely~” And she happily went to the kitchen.

Sivan headed to the door and opened it. “ Good morning, mister. I’m glad you came. Please, come in.” He said bowing and then giving pass so the old man could go inside. The main hall was big with a great vault on the roof, there was a lot of doors but in the frontal one it was possible to see a piece of what should be a living room.
