When she was a small child, she always thought of him as a brother. They did everything together. Her mother disapproving of the relationship. She, a princess, playing with a commoner was outragious. But the young princess was not going to be seprated from her best friend.
As the two got older, they grew closer. Soon the princess began to sneak out of the castle just to spend time with him. She would listen to his stupid jokes and listen to him as he spoke. Soon the princess fell in love with the boy she once called brother. But he never acted differently; never knew her ache in her heart.
Years have gone by. Still the princess aches to hold the one she considers her prince.
"Hey, there!" he says to her.
The princess sees him. Her prince. Her knight in shining armor. She longer cares what anyone else says. She flings her arms around him, holding him tight and kissing him passionately on the lips. The young man sweats, not sure what to do. He doesn't push her away nor hold her close.
When the princess breaks away she confesses; "I have loved you for a long time. I know you'll never be able to love me the same way, but I had to do that. I had tell you."
And even though the beautiful princess knows she'll never have him feels relieved to have her feelings off her chest. She smiles and takes his hand in hers. Her heart still aches, but maybe one day it'll mend. Maybe one he'll be able to fill that hole in her heart.
Only time will tell.
