This is a story I've been working on for a while but not to long ^.^ Hope you enjoy ^.^
Chapter One: Katlyn’s P.O.V
I feel like a cavewoman. Living in the woods is not healthy for a girl. I've been doing it since I was 14. I'm 18 now. Ever since- I choked.
After 4 years, I still can't think about the "incident". My fist connected with a tree. "Stupid temper." I muttered. Let me catch you up to speed.
When I was still living with my dad, I was rich and miss popular. The "incident" happened and I ran away. Now, here I am. In the forest near an old wear-house, waiting for midnight. I'm going to earn some money street fighting tonight.
Yes, I'm a street fighter. It's my life. The money that I win, I spend straight away. Usually I spend the money on shampoo, clothes, knives, and the essentials for living in a forest. I never buy food because I can catch my own.
I know you're probably like "SHAMPOO!!!!!!! WHY SHAMPOO!?!?!?!?!? That’s soooooo stupid." Well, I buy shampoo because I'm still a girl and I like to stay semi-clean. For clothes I buy sweats and comfortable, non-expensive clothes. Knives for making arrows for my bow, making spears and shelter. Other then that, I buy matches, flint, and fishing line for my bow and for fishing (well, duh).
I bought a backpack to carry everything in. Yes, I did buy a bow. The bow is for hunting and self-defense. I did teach myself everything I know, including fighting. Speaking of fighting, it's midnight (I know because the moon is directly overhead).
"Let's get this show on the road!" I think, totally stoked. I haul myself to my feet. From where I'm standing, the wear-house is on the other side of the tree and ten trees forward then across a clearing. I hate being out in the open. I always feel like someone's watching.
At about 9:00 pm that same night, I had dug a hole on the other side of the tree I was leaning on. I take a knife out of my backpack and walk around to the other side of a tree. I take my knife and mark three diagonal marks on the tree to help me remember where I put my backpack. I shove the knife back in the side pocket and start digging leaves out of the hole I made. I hear leaves rustle behind me and turn my head enough to see out of my peripheral vision but continue to brush leaves away.
Some guy is hiding behind a tree about 6 trees away. I turn my head so it's not tilted to the side. Behind me the guy breathes a sigh of relief. I'm almost done with brushing the leaves away when the guy begins to stalk forward. 'Crunch crunch crunch' the leaves tell me how far away the guy is.
When my backpack is fully hidden, the guy is three trees away. I stand up out of my crouch and take a step back, pretending to admire my work. Now, I'm only one tree away from the dude. The guy is frozen, barely breathing. I almost die of laughter when I picture his scared face.
Not a minute later, the guy starts loading a gun. A frown makes its way onto my face. Sighing I warn, "I can hear you're loading a gun. You might as well drop it. You don't know who you're messing with."
The guy laughs out loud. Still chuckling the guy responds, "I have a gun and you're a teenager without a weapon. I'm gonna win this fight." I turn around and walk towards him in a gait I've practiced many times. It looks like I'm drunk but really it's a perfectly balanced gait that helps me move in any direction at a moments notice.
When I'm a foot away, the dude raises his gun. I step to the side at a diagonal, bringing me closer to him and still out of the way of his gun. His gun follows me. I take another step to the side again at a diagonal. This time I stand in front of him.
"Shoot." I dare him. He hesitates and I take this as my chance. Jumping forward with my right foot first, I grab the hand with the gun at the wrist. Acting quickly, I step forward with my left foot.
This puts me behind him. I step forward with my right foot then my left. My left foot now at a diagonal from my right I grab the guys left shoulder with my left hand. Using my right hand that still holds the guys wrist I put it behind him and crank it upwards. Putting him in a chicken wrist.
This entire sequence of moves happening in a matter of seconds. Taking the gun from his hand I put it to his head. "You think you can win? Really? Well, it looks like you were wrong."
I taunt him. I push him to the ground but keep his gun. The look on his face was priceless. I actually look at him for first time. He looked about 18 or 19, his blonde hair coming over his eyes and circling his head like a halo.
He was ripped all over. His guns were flexed and I could see his 6-pack through his shirt. He had to be 6 foot. He. Was. GORGEOUS!!!
I must have been staring because he looked up in confusion. "Um hi?" He said. "Did you let me win this fight?" I asked suddenly. I was sure he could've crushed me. "Of course not."
A smile was playing on his lips. "I'm Jason by the way. Hope you win Kat." He responded using my fighting name. So he was here for the fights, my type of guy.
He got up, turned around and started walking towards the wear-house. "Jason!!!” I yelled. “You might want this." He turned around just as I was throwing his gun back to him.
He caught it easily. Looking down at the gun then back at me. “You’re not keeping this?” He asked, obviously confused. I chuckled.
“Nope.” I responded popping the ‘p’. “The gun isn’t my weapon of choice, I have my bow. And anyways, you’re a good guy. Just don’t do that again.”
The look on his face changed to understanding. Looking at the wear-house then back at him. “Race you.” I challenge. “You’re on” Jason agreed. With that, we raced to the wear-house.
(P.S: I know there are some mistakes in the time thing (present past and future word things razz ) but please ignore them. Or change them in your mind) razz XD

Bravo! Bravo! My dear, I am highly impressed. This particular story is utterly, and undeniably intriguing to me. There are a few simple grammatical errors, and spelling errors, but every author goes through that. It is quite the original story line, and it is captivating.
(I responded to your post in my forum topic in the "Ideas" section of this Guild. If you possibly have the time, you should mosey over to that vicinity and glance over my response.)
Also, if you are interested in my pieces and my personal style of creative writing, I urge you to saunter to my posting, in this section of the Guild. It is one of my latest creations, and the prologue is what is posted at the moment. Comment if you desire, I am eager to hear your opinion

Forgive me for the late response in your forum, my friend. I have possessed a limited amount of computer access, ever since my computer's latest hard-drive disaster. I am taking this time thank you once again for taking the time from your schedule to share your honest opinion with my piece.
I am looking forward intensely for your latest chapter and later creations, my dear. It is a high honor in my personal opinion for other authors and poets to share their personal pieces. Please I noticed your shyness toward my constant compliments in regards to you as a person and your creations. If I trouble you or make you uncomfortable sharing my honest opinion, I urge you to share this with me. It is in my nature to share my honesty and opinion with others, however it is not in my nature to make other's uncomfortable.
The question, my dear, is do my constant compliments cause you more trouble than good? I would hate to think so, and it would burden me greatly to do so.

Katlyn’s P.O.V
I soooo beat him to the wear-house, no matter what he says. “I win!!!” I exclaimed when I reached the door. “Nuh-uh!!! I beat you!” argued Jason. “Liar!!! You were seconds behind!!!” I responded. “What are you talking about!? I clearly reached the door before you.”
Jason shot back. I sighed. Clearly, neither of us was going to give up. Quite frankly, I wasn’t in the mood for a heated argument right before my fight. “Fine.”
I said, chuckling when his face lit up. “It’s a tie.” His face went to disbelief then understanding. “You just don’t think you could win this argument. Chicken.”
Jason threw a smirk on his face. “I just don’t feel like getting in an argument right before a fight. Not even about a race.” I retorted. Jason sighed in defeat and it took all I had to keep myself from doing a touchdown dance.
“God, we’re competitive.” I thought. Jason pushed open the door. “Ladies first.” He said with a smile while holding the door open.
I walked through the door. Noise exploded in my ears. Lights were shining down in the center of the wear-house, right on the arena. Some guy was selling alcoholic beverages at a bar. Typical.
Street-fighting venues always have people getting drunk. It’s like a huge club. I sensed Jason behind me. “What time is it?” I yelled over the noise.
I was supposed to fight at 12:30. When Jason ‘attacked’ me it was only 12. It couldn’t have been a half an hour, could it have? “12:15” Jason answered.
YAY!!! I have 15 minutes to get ready to fight. I know it’s not right for a girl to get stoked about fighting, but I’m not a girly-girl. I’m more of a tom-boy. “Wanna get a table?”
I asked. Usually, I look at who I’m fighting against, but I wanna spend more time with Jason. He’s the first person I’ve met that didn’t beat the crap out of me. “Sure.” Jason yelled back.
I wove myself through the crowd. Stopping every once in a while to see if Jason was keeping up. When I finally found a table, I sat down and waited for Jason to catch up. I had lost him when a fight broke out in the middle of the crowd. That’s what happens when people get drunk.
Jason finally caught up and sat down. After about a minute of silence I looked up and asked “You fighting tonight?” Jason looked at me surprised that I had spoken. “Ya.” He finally responded.
“I have to get some money somehow.” He smiled. “Your not the only one.” I responded chuckling. “Aren’t you to small to fight?”
He asked, almost seriously. “You’re asking me that? When just a half an hour ago, I unarmed you and had you in a chicken wrist.” I answered laughing. Jason laughed with me.
Suddenly I remembered something. “Why do you have four knives and two guns on you?” I asked in all seriousness. Jason looked surprised that I had noticed that. Though I would be too.
He hid them well; I just know what to look for. Jason shrugs and answers with “They make me feel safer.” I look at him. I can tell he’s lying, but why? I have no one to tell secrets to.
Not like he knows that anyways. I sigh. Sometimes, I wish things were normal. I quickly get my act together. I chose this life, and now I’m going to have to deal with it.
After that, we barely talked. A little small talk here and there, nothing big. When 12:27 came I said good-bye and walked down to the deck. I got in line for the next match. 3 minutes later I was being called on stage.
“In this corner, we have Kat!!!” The announcer announced. I walked into the arena while everyone chanted my name. In street fighting, you don’t know who you’re opponent is until you’re in the ring. So you can only imagine my surprise when…
“And in this corner we have the newbie, Jace!!!” Jason walked on stage. I could feel my mouth drop and I quickly closed it. He smiled at me. I smiled back with an evil glint in my eye. He set us up.
Yay. This is going to be interesting. I could tell he didn’t get rid of his knives, but he did drop the guns. Weapons were permitted but only knives, no guns and no bows. This is going to be fun.
Jason walked forward while I stayed in my corner. Just by the way he walked I could tell he was right-handed and his weapon of choice is a knife. Yip-pee. I stalked forward in the gait that I showed him when he was pointing a gun at me. When I got to where I was supposed to be, I stopped and stood up straight with my knees bent a little.
Jason was casually leaning on his right foot and his right hand was already at his belt. His first move is going to be a lunge to the right with his knife in hand. I’ll end this quickly. We smiled at each other. When the referee came up and the bell sounded, Jason did as I predicted.
He lunged to the right with his knife in hand. I side stepped to the right and pushed his right arm upward with my right arm, moving the knife out of the range of fire. Moving my right hand to grab his wrist that held the knife, I stepped forward with my right foot. Knowing what I was going to do, Jason swung his left hand and tried to hit my side. Seeing the move I jumped back and let go of his arm.
Diving for his boot, I grabbed the knife in it, somersaulted over and threw the knife into the post at the corner of the ring. Ya, I forgot to mention, I know how to throw knives with deadly accuracy. Feeling the pressure change on the floor, I could tell he turned around. Rolling towards where I threw the knife, I narrowly missed the knife he threw at my arm. Now, he only had two knives.
When I was close enough to grab the knife out of the board, I did. “This isn’t ending as fast as I want it to end.” I think. I swirl to my feet, not even out of breath a little bit, with the knife in my right hand. I’m holding the knife so the actual blade is flat against my wrist and the handle is in my hand.
Jason was breathing heavily and looked at me with disbelief. I guess he isn’t used to people who can actually beat him, I think. He had moved to the corner where I started, trying to put distance between us. “You only have to knives left, and you can’t use them very well.” I taunt him.
“Two is all I need to finish this.” He responded with a smirk. I could guess what he was going to do. He threw the knife in his hand at my arm. When the knife was close enough I ducked under it and thrust my right arm up so the blade of the knife in my hand and the blade of the thrown knife hit.
This caused the thrown knife to change its direction and start spinning upward. I mentally noted that Jason was coming towards me with his last knife in his hand. I let the knife in the air fall until it was right in front of me. I grabbed it with my left hand by the handle. I switched the knife in my right hand so I held it with the blade out in front of me.
I could tell Jason was about to strike; he was only a step away. I got the knives in my hand ready to block his strike, seeing as it was going to strike my ribs. I held the blades so they crossed at the handle. When Jason tried to hit, the blade of his knife got stuck in between the blades of my two knives. I could tell Jason was tired.
He was breathing heavily and he was just standing there with his blade in between my two knives. Only at that moment did I realize that it was deathly silent in the wear-house. Everyone was watching our ballet of knives. Ha. Knowing he was beaten, Jason dropped his knife, walked around me and hopped over the fence that surrounded the ring.
After about 30 seconds I realized Jason hasn’t taken his knives. I turned around and searched for him in the crowd, but he was nowhere to be seen. ”Oh well, more knives for me” I thought as I bent down and picked up the knife he had dropped. I then walked over to the knife that was stuck in the floor and took that out of the floor.
When I stood up straight, the whole room broke into applause and cheering. “That was easy,” I thought. “The winner of this match is Kat by drop-out. But we all knew she was going to win!!!” I stood there in defeat, even though I had just won.
I learned nothing from this fight. It was a simple waste of time. I feel like hitting something. I walk over to the fence and hop it easily, landing lightly on my feet. I stalk out of there. Just as I was about to leave, someone grabs me by the arm. I try to pull free until he says, “I have a message from Jason,”
That gets my attention. I stop fighting as he continues. “He says he’ll see you soon. He said you can keep the knives, he has more.” I struggle to get free because it sounds like he’s done.
“Wait,” the guy orders. “Jason also says he’s sorry he left. He would’ve stayed but he had to go.” The guy let go of me. I look at him but he has his back turned. “Thanks!” I call to him.
He just nods his head. I race out of there and across the clearing to my backpack. I decide I’m sleeping here because there’s a stream nearby and it has fish. After I’ve set up camp I lay down in my make shift bed of leaves and pine needles pulling the blanket I bought around my shoulders. I fall asleep slightly angry and thoroughly confused.
This is the second chapter of my story. Sorry if it's long :/ I tend to not know hen to stop writing. XD

Katlyn’s P.O.V
I woke up to a surprise. Almost. Without opening my eyes, I took a check of my surroundings. By hearing and feeling vibrations through the ground. The first thing I noticed was the feel of metal at my throat.
Ugh, a knife. By the way the knife felt on my throat, I could tell that this person wasn’t here to kill, just scare. Sigh. This has happened to many times before.
The only difference is the only thing that surprised me. The pressure of the knife felt as if it was being held by…Jason? That’s weird. I noticed another guy there by the shifting of his crouch, also by his speech. “Jason, come on. Let’s just leave. She’s sleeping like the dead and she’s not going to wake up.”
This guy said. I told myself it is Jason. This is what he meant by ‘see you soon’?!?!?!?! . My temper flared. Oh, the things I’m going to do to this kid.
I have been woken up enough times by knives against my throat. (It’s true, when you’re alone and live by yourself in a forest, people do that. It gets annoying after a while). “She’s going to wake up. You HAVE to see this girl in action. She doesn’t even break a sweat.”
Jason responded. I took that moment to open my eyes. Jason looked at me with admiration. I glared back with eyes flaming with hatred. ‘Don’t look up to me kid,’
I thought. ‘You don’t want to be like me.’ “Told you.” Jason taunted to the person crouching by the other side of my head. “Do you know how many times I have been woken up to a knife on my throat?”
I spit at Jason. Looking at me surprised and questioningly, I kept going. “Enough to know you’re not here to kill, only to scare or to show me off. Now, would you please leave so I can wash my hair.” With that I got up, shoving an astonished Jason off of me. Behind me I heard the guy whisper ‘Holy hell’.
Jason smiled at his comment, as if saying “I told you!!!” Folding up my blanket and digging out my backpack I warned them “If you’re here when I get back, I will rip your throats out.” ‘I’d like to see that’ the guy behind me smirked under his breath. That did it.
How dare they doubt my ability to rip their throats out!!! I turned on him. Taking one of Jason’s’ knives out of my backpack, I threw it, aiming for the spot next to the guys head. It flew past him close enough to whip up a wind that moved his dark brown hair, landing deep enough in the tree behind him that I knew I was going to have to cut it out. “That was my throw with a knife at an ungodly hour in the morning. And I’m angry.
My aim isn’t as nearly as good when I’m angry. As a fighter, you can’t ever doubt your opponent’s ability. In fact, you should respect it. If you don’t, you underestimate your opponent and they’ll automatically win as soon as you do.” I gave him advice as I got my shampoo out of my backpack.
“Again, if you’re here when I get back, I will rip your throats out.” I warned, yet again, as I headed off towards the stream. I was insanely hungry and they were interrupting the time I usually hunt. Even though I’m hungry, I’m going back there to make sure they left first. I agreed with my plan as soon as I got to the stream.
After washing out my hair in 3 minutes, I decided to give them 2 extra minutes. I slowly headed back to the place I camped. I walked towards my camp in a gait that was as silent as death. Stopping 5 trees away from camp I listened for them. I wasn’t surprised. Not only had they stayed, but also they had brought in more people.
There were five in the open (including Jason and that dude that had woken me up) and three more in the trees above. Knowing that they hadn’t heard me, I stalked to the nearest person in a tree. Climbing the tree next to him, I sat on a branch where he could see me clearly. Getting out a knife I readied to throw it. I aimed for the spot in front of his eyes and hit it perfectly.
Very quickly and smoothly I jumped over to his branch. Covering his mouth so he couldn’t do anything and wrapping an arm around him so his arms were restrained from making noise. I put my lips to his ear and whispered “You are to go down there and tell them I’m here but won’t go out in the open until the other two people in trees are on the ground and in the clearing with Jason.” The dude nodded and I let go, knowing I couldn’t trust him. As soon as he hit the ground, I took the knife out of the tree and started jumping from branch to branch until I was 4 trees away from the tree the guy had been on. Knowing they hadn’t heard me or see me I crouched on the branch I was on.
I could hear them and could see them. Jason and the guy on the branch (who I’m going to call branch dude from now on) were conferring. A minute after they had stopped conferring and the tree dudes weren’t down yet, I knew they weren’t coming down. Hanging my backpack on a near-by branch, I took out a piece of paper and some fishing line and a pencil. On the paper I wrote “ Didn’t I tell you to get OUT of my ‘camp’?
I’m pretty sure I did. I also told you I was going to rip your throats out. Well, get ready for a bloody mess. –Kat P.S- your knives are to dull, you can have them back.” Using the fishing line, I tied the note to one of Jason’s knives.
Taking Jason’s other knives out of my backpack (One is still lodged in the tree. I know they’re Jason’s knives because they say ‘Jason’ on them.) I readied to throw. They were in a half circle and I aimed for the spot right at Jason’s feet. Throwing with great power and accuracy it hit the spot.
While Jason jumped back and looked to where it was thrown from, I was readying myself to throw his other two knives, aiming for trees on each side of the clearing. Jason finally got over his shock and had bent down to retrieve the note. When he picked the knife up I knew he realized it was his knife, just by the look on his face. When Jason finished reading the note, he crumbled it up with a smile on his face. Hearing the rustle of leaves told me that the two other tree dudes were coming toward me, and fast.
I hit the two trees quicker then they could comprehend. By the time they had gone to inspect the knives, I was already half way to the other side of the clearing by tree with my backpack. The tree dudes have yet to figure out where I went. When I made it to the other side I found the tree where I had lodged one of Jason’s knife in. The knife I threw past the guy that doubted my skills.
Sliding down the side of the tree as silent as death (that’s my favorite analogy) I put my foot of the knife in the tree. Seeing as it could hold my weight, I dropped all my weight onto my right foot and put my right foot on the knife. Balancing there, I waited until someone noticed me. No one noticed me. I laughed.
They all whipped around. Still laughing my but off, I said “And one of you doubted my ability!!! The tree guys still don’t know I’m not in the trees and you couldn’t even tell when I was right behind you. You people still think you can beat me?” They looked at me and I could tell they were like ‘Uh duh!!! You’re kind of out numbered.’
I just stepped in there. “I can still beat you, even if I am outnumbered.” Looking at me in disbelief, branch dude spoke up. “It’s one against eight. How do you suppose you’re going to win?” Looking directly at him with a smile dancing in my eyes “I’ve already won.
You’ve underestimated me. Plus, you guys aren’t here to kill me, just to see what I can do.” Out of the side of my eye, Jason was smiling like an idiot. Knowing I had won I hopped off of the knife. Walking forward in my perfectly balanced gait, I heard the tree dudes loading guns.
Standing straight and aiming my gaze toward the imperfectly concealed tree dudes I said, “Don’t even try shooting past my head. Just put the guns away before I come and help you.” Everyone looked confused. “What, you didn’t hear them loading guns?” I asked these people.
“Uuuh no?” branch dude said. “Rustle the leaves if you were loading guns, and don’t lie. I’ll come get the guns from you if I have to.” I ordered the tree dudes, looking over at them.
The tree dudes didn’t lie and rustled the leaves. Smirking, I looked back over to the six people in front of me. “You’re deaf.” I stated to them. That got them angry (they all have very easily angered tempers).
Branch dude started unsheathing knives. Four other people (not including Jason) cracked their knuckles. All of them had murder in their eyes (except Jason). Jason just stood there smiling. I really was not in the mood to fight.
Checking my surroundings without making it obvious, I picked a tree to climb up. Knowing that the tree dudes where loading guns and were waiting for me at the tree with the knife still lodged into it, I picked one at my side. They all started advancing as one. I couldn’t help but notice that Jason still stood in his same spot smiling like an idiot. Without looking suspicious I started moving toward the tree.
When my backpack was pressed against the tree, I smiled. “Watch and learn. Maybe you’ll learn how to climb.” I taunted as I turned my back on them and leaped to grab the first branch. Swinging my legs up so I landed in a crouch on the branch (all the trees here had really thick branches, even at the bottom). Turning around I caught Jason’s eye and warned him with steel dripping in my voice, “The next time you wake me up with a weapon pressed to me, I will beat the living crap out of you.”
Keeping his eyes on mine, I gave him a look that could kill. Then, I turned my back to them and climbed up the rest of the tree. When I got to a good spot, I stopped and listened. Everything had stopped. I heard breathing but that’s it. There weren’t even the sounds of animals about.
‘Well there goes food.’ I thought with anger coloring my tone. By tree, I raced back to the stream to hunt and find a place to sleep tonight. After I had eaten and beaten out my cooking fire, it was about 9:00 PM. I laid down in my make shift bed to think.
How does Jason know all these people who can fight and own guns and knives? How does Jason know how to fight? How did he know where I slept? I don’t even want to think about the last one. The answer tickled my mind, but I couldn’t get it.
I was too tired. “Maybe I’ll get it in the morning” I thought groggily right before I fell into a light sleep.
Sorry for waiting so long sweatdrop Didn't have the time. SORRY!!!!

Katlyn’s P.O.V
I woke up, and NO ONE WAS AROUND!!!! Not a sound, no breathing, no movement. I was surprised to see Jason hadn’t decided to wake me up again at an ungodly hour. I did have this sense that someone was watching, but it was distant so I dismissed it. I had a fight tonight at the wear-house I was camped by. I decided to get some shopping done. Being to tired to work on any arrows for my bow; I put arrows on my list of things to get. ‘This is going to be a long list,’ I thought as I got out a piece of paper and my favorite black pen. On the list I put; Arrows, Shampoo, and Matches. Making a different list and titling it ‘Things 2 Do’. On this list I put; Clean clothes, Practice. Yep, that’s it. After I had finished writing my lists, I packed everything away, got out my shampoo, clean clothes, and a hair tie and then went to the stream to take a shower. I came back to camp wearing a black tank top, white sweat-pants, and a pair of sneakers I bought a while back. I was running my fingers through my waist long brown hair. For an idea of what I look like; I have dark brown hair that comes down to my waist. I usually wear my hair in a ponytail. My eyes are a deep chocolate brown and I have a flawless face. I’m skinny, but not anorexic. My body has some curves and I’m about 5’ 9’’, or about a head below Jason. I don’t look like I have muscle, but its most of my weight. I must only weigh 115 lbs, which is really light compared to some guys I fight. That’s me. Once I had raked my hands through my hair enough, I put it up in a ponytail. Taking out my list of things to get I wrote; BRUSH!!!! After making sure my bow is safe and secure, I shoved everything in my backpack, took out my list, put my backpack on, and headed out. Being out of exercise, I sprinted the whole 3 miles to civilization. When I saw the road I slowed to a jog. I was coming up on the highway that leads to the main road. Keeping to the shadows of the forest I walked the rest of the way. When I had gotten to the buildings, I looked for an alley and walked in through there. In my backpack was about three thousand dollars in cash from my fight with Jason. ‘At least he’s good for something.’ I thought as I walked over to my favorite weapons dealer. Technically, I was walking into a Shaw’s, but I know someone in there who’s a weapons dealer. I trust him and only him, to make my arrows when I’m lazy. He’s the only one, other then me, who makes them the way I liked them. When I got in I headed towards cash register 7. “ Yo Ice!” I yelled from across the grocery store. Ice isn’t his real name, just what I call him. Ice looked over with a smile on his face. “How may I be of service ma’am?” I grinned like an idiot. Typical Ice. “I’ve been looking for my favorite bag of chips but you guys down seem to have any on the shelves.” I answered. “Well, what were they called?” Ice asked almost seriously. Almost. “I don’t remember, but I’ll know them when I see them.” Came out of my mouth. I still had a straight face on. Flipping off the light in his number to show that the register wasn’t usable, he told me. “Right this way ma’am. We might have some of it in the back.” Getting out of his booth and getting his keys, he motioned for me to follow him. I could tell he was restraining from laughing, as was I. I followed him into the back where he keeps my arrows safe and hidden. When he shut the door behind us, he fell to the ground laughing his a** off. I couldn’t blame him. For those of you who don’t get the joke, no one was in the store. The store was closed, but we like to pretend that people are around. Ice finally got himself in control and walked over to the boxes where he keeps his weapons. Ice is the guy almost everyone in this area buys from. He has guns, bows, spears, arrows, and knives. Anything. At one point, he was a drug dealer, but he got busted. Now he sells weapons with a permit to sell and make and buy. Ice hated jail. He had finally gotten out my usual of about 300 arrows. Turning to me he commanded, “Give me the money.” I knew (or thought) he was just joking, but I felt like playing along. I was in an oddly cheerful mood today. Timidly I reached into my backpack for 600 bucks. It sounds cheap, 2 dollars an arrow, but that’s because Ice is my best friend and he gives me a discount. Plus, I’m a regular customer. With the money out, I slowly walked forward, putting one foot directly in front of the other. When I was an arms length away, I cautiously extended my arm out. Ice snatched the money out of my hand and laughed out loud. It wasn’t the ‘it was just a joke’ laugh it was more of like ‘sucker, you’re not getting this anyways’ kind of laugh. “Can I have my arrows?” I asked, obviously confused and angry. “Nope.” He responded, popping the ‘p’. He had turned to put the arrows away and had turned back to me. That was when I noticed his eyes were glazed. He’s been messing with drugs again. I knew he wasn’t going to give me the arrows I had so rightfully paid for. ‘And to think, the first thing I told him was not to mess with me.’ I thought as I felt my anger peak. My blood was boiling now. He was in for it. I stepped forward. “Give. Me. My. Arrows,” I threatened, taking another step forward. I was in his face now. “What are you going to do about it?” He asked, as if I couldn’t kick his a**. I leaned in towards his ear. “I’m going to kick your a** and get what I came here for without paying.” I whisper, right before I kicked him in his sacred-place. Ice doubled over and dropped the money (which was banded, thank god). I eagerly snatched the bundle of cash from its resting place on the floor. It just called out for me to take it. I mean, it is rightfully mine. Ice was now on the floor. ‘Idiot,’ I thought as I went over to the box that held all the arrows. Opening it, I saw THOUSANDS of arrows. I am so glad I have a huge backpack. My backpack has four pockets. The biggest one can hold like 700 arrows. The second biggest can hold 400 knives. The third largest is actually small, and so is the fourth. I use those pockets for whatever needs to be in my backpack. Naturally, I take 700 arrows and stuff them in my backpack. I slip my backpack to see if it’s to heavy. It’s as light as a feather, to me, anyways. I looked in my knife pocket and saw that I only have about 50 in there. I’m low. Being greedy, I search all the boxes until I find one filled with knives. I take about 325 knives, making sure my backpack is still light. It has some weight to it, but not much. Then again, to some normal person, this is probably back breaking. But I’m not a normal person. Shuffling reaches my ears and I realize that Ice is getting up. I turn to face him. “I thought you had changed, Ice. I thought you had stopped doing drugs. I guess I was wrong. Anyways, thanks for the knives and the arrows. It’ll last me until I find a new dealer. One who doesn’t do drugs,” was what came out of my mouth, as cold as ice. I chuckled at my own pun. Ice looked dazed. I just walked up to him and pushed him. Ice fell and landed on his back. ‘He’s messed up,’ was what ran through my head as I walked out of the closet area. My stomach rumbled and I noticed I was starving. ‘I’m in a grocery store, might as well take some stuff while I’m here,’ I thought, not even the slightest bit concerned about police. I walked over to the chip aisle and grabbed whatever was there. I’m not a picky eater. Everything went into my backpack except a bug bag of Doritos. I ripped that open there and walked out of the store, setting off the alarms. I strolled out as if nothing happened, leaving the door unlocked. ‘The police can’t find me, I live in the woods and people think I’m dead,’ was the only thought I had walking out of there. It was deserted out here. Everyone was at school. I think today is Monday. ‘I’ll just have to find out,’ was the conclusion I came to. I shoved the chips in my bag and walked to the nearest gas station. I walked in with an air of confidence, went up to the clerk and asked straight out, “What day is it?” He looked at weirdly and answered slowly. “It’s Monday, ma’am.” I nodded my head in thanks and walked back out of the gas station. I got out my list and looked at what I needed next. Matches. I turned around and walked back into the gas station. I turned directly towards the aisle where matches were, grabbed 20 packs and headed to the clerk again. I practically threw all the packs on the counter. “Why do you need 20 packs of matches?” The clerk asked me, clearly confused. “None of your business,” I snapped. Ice had dampened my mood. The clerk just looked at me before ringing up all the packs. “20 bucks,” he said with no emotion. I twisted my backpack out and got out 20 ones. I chucked them on the counter too. I grabbed the matches and drove them into my backpack. Walking out of the store I thought of where I could get shampoo and a brush. WAL-MART!!!! I walked across the street to Walmart. For some reason I can’t explain, I love Wal-Mart. I just, do. It’s just one of those things I love. Anyways, I walked into Wal-Mart all cool and stuff. I walked over to the hair products area and picking out my favorite shampoo. It doesn’t have a name, so I can’t recommend it. I switched aisles to get a brush. I picked a flat one with bristly things. I’m not an expert at brushes so I picked whatever looked most appealing. I took my brush and shampoo to the express check out. It was 30 bucks and I paid with ones. I walked out of the store, eager to get back into the cover of the forest. I had one more thing to do. I jogged over to the alley I came through and headed to where I stashed my clothes before I came out. Smart, I know. In the pile were 10 pairs of sweats, 20 tank tops, 10 bras, and about 30 pairs of underwear. Not all of them were dirty, but I don’t have time to separate dirty from clean. With my backpack on and my arms full of clothes, I walked into a Quick Wash. It was completely empty. I picked two washers and two dryers. Washing my clothes was easy, considering all my clothes were wither black or white. I separated the blacks from the whites. I pushed all my white clothes into one washer and my blacks into another. From my backpack I took out two dollars, one dollar for each machine. I put the dollars in each machine, set them to a 15-minute wash. Then, I just sat down and waited. After 15 minutes, I switched all my clothes into the dryers, put a dollar in each machine, then sat down and waited for the 15 minute dry to finish. When they were done, I managed to cram all my bras and underwear in my backpack, plus my tanks. With my sweats in my hands, I walked the 3 miles back to camp. I stopped when I looked through the trees and saw Jason sitting there, looking extremely bored. Instantly, I took check of my surroundings. He hadn’t brought anyone with him, and he had no weapons on him. I finally decided it would be safe. I felt like having fun so I walked to the other side of camp, so I was behind Jason. He hadn’t heard me. I walked up behind him. “What are you doing here?” I asked, totally not in the mood for a fight. Jason literately jumped three feet in the air. I smiled at his obliviousness. “Where did you come from?” He asked, still spooked. I shook my head. “Answer my question first,” I told him, still standing there. “I’m not answering your question until you answer mine,” Jason responded. I sighed. I was soooo not in the mood for this. “I came from my mother,” I said all smart-a** like. Jason just glared. “What? I did. Now, I answered your question, will you answer mine?” I asked, almost fed up of him popping up everywhere. “I’m here to ask you something,” He said calmly. That’s when it clicked. I know why he stayed there in the clearing. I know why he has all those trained friends. I know why he always has weapons on him. I know. Actually, I think sub-consciously, I’ve known. For some reason, I wasn’t surprised.
(sorry for the unrealistic backpack size XD I had to make it big, she's been living in a forest for four years!!!)
