How unimpressive. It's good that an international is being called, but I wish the result was worth batting an eye over.

Wait wait.... wait...

I realise you're a commie. But you think we're on "the precipice of extinction"?

You actually think that?

It doesn't matter if humanity is on the "precipice of extinction/annihilation", societies rise and fall, humans are born and die, it's a vicious cycle, and will continue never-ending-ly until the entire world is united under one banner with a radically different way of thinking and perceiving the world. Only then will science truly progress and people truly be free to pursue their innate traits, hopes, and dreams, so long as it benefits society. The fact of the matter is the largest portion of humanity is bitterly oppressed and lulled into believing it to be normal, rational, and in their best interest to be in impoverished conditions, working themselves to make next to nothing, never owning anything, and never really living a fulfilling life economically/socially. So long as class based governments exist, there will be a hierarchy of ruling and ruled, privileged and oppressed.

I cannot see how any one would not be able to see how these ingrained classes are harmful to society. Capitalism might work if it had a firm restructuring to cater to the lower-middle class, eliminating impoverished conditions for the sake of a large, happy, middle class. If it had a much stricter control on supply/demand to be more along the lines of ability to supply the need/ability for the need to be supplied. If the burgeoisie were to fall from their thrones into a petty buegeoisie at best, where their direct competitions with eachother are governed by the state, eliminating their abilities to overproduce/out compete eachother, causing the major depressions to begin with. The over all profitability of capitalism would fall substantially, however the overall individual might actually enjoy going to work and making a wage, voting and the like, as there would be nearly ONLY a middle class, with a few willingly unemployed and the petty buegeoisie who are in charge of the plants/factories/etc. Basically, if Capitalism was a very state regulated supply, production, profit, and the like. But I think that may actually just fall under socialism.

No. Not in any sense of the word. The worst we face is.. well, perhaps the star exploding. Even global warming wont wipe us out.

I did not know you were such a conspiracy theorist. I am shocked.

http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg18925393.700-worst-case-global-warming-scenario-revealed.html

That's *worst case* as in, NOTHING substantial to combat happens and the increases continue at accelerated trends. We *still* don't die off. Yes, cities go underwater. Yes, the environment becomes completely different to before. None of that however, guarantees the elimination human kind.

Even if those things themselves did, it happens gradually enough that, at the very least, various people would be capable of survival through technological means. London might be the same as Cairo, but the UAE is just as hot and every building there has air conditioning.

It might be a terrible, barren Mad Max, Fallout style future, but the fact remains humanity isn't going to just disappear. Global Warming isn't a new and invincible plague, or an alien invasion, or the sun exploding. It's not targeted at humans. It may be caused by them, it may be exacerbated by them, but the effects are not designed, naturally or syntheticlly, to eliminate people. There is absolutely no reason mankind wont survive global warming, even in a depleted and meek state. We're like cockroaches but instead of immunity to radiation and s**t we have brains.
