A lot has happened in the world of Hello! Project this past year such as graduations, scandals, top-charting hits and some surprises~ (some things may be missing and out of order, sorry!)
1- OG's graduation consisting of former Morning Musume members: Yaguchi Mari, Ishikawa Rika, Yoshizawa Hitomi, Nozomi Tsuji, Ogawa Makoto, Asami Konno, Fujimoto Miki, Yasuda Kei, Natsumi Abe, Iida Kaori, Nakasawa Yuko & various other soloists and H!P members~ Nakasawa Yuko handed the roll of head of H!P to the curent captain of Morning Musume, Takahashi Ai~ who is now also the oldest H!P member.
2- Morning Musume's 39th single Shouganai Yume Oibito 「しょうがない 夢追い人」reached number one on the Oricion Charts- first time for new captain Ai-chan, JunJun, LinLin, Mitsuri Aika and the first number one since Aruiteru.
3- ℃-ute became a 6 member unit as of July 9, 2009 when Arihana Kanna left the group after a run of four indi singles and seven mainstream ones~ it was said her leaving was due to bunion surgery and that she wanted to continue with schooling but it's speculated that she was found to be in a relationship which as many of us know to be forbidden in the H!P contract. FOREVER LOVE was the last single as a 7 member group (7th single) ...she did not have a graduation concert.
4- Morning Musume performs at Anime Expo in California! Making it the first time the girls came over to the states~
5- Hello! Project Champloo - Happy Marriage Song Shuu album gets released with the revival of some old groups~ ZOKU V-U-DEN (Sugaya Risako, Michishige Sayumi and JunJun) was a fan favorite during the summer concert.
6- Hello! Project egg members Sawada Yuri and Noto Arisa graduated from H!P to move onto other things.
7- On October 25, 2009 ℃-ute member Umeda Erika graduated from the group to become a model- leaving ℃-ute as a 5 member H!P unit, her last singe was EVERYDAY Zekkouchou!! 「EVERYDAY 絶好調!!」- the groups 10th mainstream single.
8- H!P Egg group S/mileage containing members;; Wada Ayaka, Maeda Yuuka, Fukuda Kanon and Ogawa Saki will graduate from egg and became a new mainstream group with three indie singles behind them when "the cherry blossoms bloom" ...meaning next spring
9- After the first performance of Morning Musume Nine Smile tour Takahashi Ai announced that on December 6, 2009 seventh generation member Kusumi Kohari would graduate from the group- ending the 2 year run without a change in leadership or adding new members (last change was when Yoshizawa Hitomi and Fujimoto Miki left in 2007) -her graduation song was Furusato, the same song she auditioned with. She was a member for 4 years and roughly 4 months. Producer Tsunku and former members: Nakazawa Yuko, Kaori Iida all went to the graduation concert, blogging about it later~ it was rumored that Yoshizawa Hitomi also attended.
11- Every member of Berryz工房 ended up getting the flu within a 3 week peirod and the only one outside Berryz工房 to contract the flu ℃-ute's Nakajima Saki in early October.
