First lession - Pronouns

*First of all I think you should learn the pronouns, right? So here we go:

-Pronomes pessoais retos
1.Eu = I
2.Tu = You
3.Ele/ela = He/she
1.Nós = We
2.Vós = You (plural)
3.Eles/elas = They

*"It" in portuguese means "isso" and is not considered a straight pronoun.

-Pronomes pessoais oblíquos (pretty hard)
"Lhe" got three meanings, that are in bold
1.Eu - me, mim, comigo = me, me, with me
2.Tu- te, ti, contigo = you, you, with you
3.Ele/ela - o, a, lhe, se, si, consigo = him, her, you/her/him, her/himself, her/himself, with her/himself
1.Nós - nos, conosco = us, with us
2.Vós - vos, convosco = you, with you
3.Eles/elas = os, as, lhes, se, si, consigo = them, them, them, you, them, them, with them

*Well, it may be a little confusing right now, isn't? blaugh Okay, so let's learn few sentences. The pronouns are in bold. smile

~ Eu te amo = I love you
~ Eu a amo/ Eu o amo = I love her/ I love him
~ Eu os amo/ Eu as amo = I love them (male/ female)
~ Eu vos amo = I love you (plural)

~ Tu estás comigo = You are with me
~ Venha conosco! = Come with us!
~ Eu os ajudei = I helped them

Bonus¹: Você or Tu? stressed
Você is not a straight pronoun or a oblique pronoun; It's something we'll study later biggrin
Q: But why am I telling this now?
A: Because in Brazil we don't use "tu" usually; it's considered a formal pronoun, so we Usually Use "você" instead "tu"

Examples:

~Você está linda hoje = You are beautiful today
Formal Form: Tu estás linda hoje
~ Você gosta de torta de maçã? = Do you like apple pie?
F.F: Tu gostas de torta de maçã?

Bonus²: Warning about the verb to be!!
The verb to be, in portuguese, got two meanings: "ser" and "estar"
We use to "ser" when we are talking about a permanent situation and "estar" in a temporary situation. We'll learn more about verb to be in next lecture =D

Curiosity of the day

In Portugal portuguese, we call "girl" by the name "rapariga" and male form is "rapaz". But if you call a Brazilian girl "rapariga", she will not like it that much! xd
Why?
Because in Brazil, "rapariga" means b**ch. If you're going to call a girl, you should use "menina" or "garota". Yeah, you can call a boy "rapaz" or "menino", it's not an insult xd

Pronunciation

- Alphabet
- Words

* Well, I'll just make a comparation with the alphabet pronunciation and words or onomatopeia or... idk, but you'll know how to pronunce, just trust me and read it in your accent ;D

A = Lisa
B = Bay
C = Say
D = Day
E = Left
F = Left
G = Jay
H = (Lady) Gaga
I = Equals
J = Jock + Tall
K = Kaa
L = Ellee
M = Emee
N = Enee
O = Block
P = Pay
Q = Kay
R = Aihe
S = Jesse
T = Taste
U = Equals
V = Vein
W = Same as english
X = Cheese
Y = Eepslon
Z = Zay

This is the alphabet. But tere are some letters you should know.

Ç = cedilha

In portuguese, it got the same sound as "s", but you should never start a word with "ç". You can't use this before E and I, too
- Examples:
Força (forsa) = Strength
Poço (poso)= Well (noun)
Açude (Asuge or Asude) = Dam

à = a-til /  = a-circunflexo / Á = a-agudo

The pronunciation are:
ã / â = cousin
á = bat

More soon....

As regras Brasileiras são diferenteees daquelas do Latim normal =X

I want to know:
How do you say the "D" in the word "de"?
And the "T" in the word "te"?

The Brazilian rules are different from those of normal Latin =X

"de"
if you mean something like "sorvete de morango" (strawberry ice cream), the "de" sound is similar to "g" (in english accent)
it's something like....'djee' XD
"te"
in "eu te amo", you can ay "te" as "tee", "tchee" or "tay"
it's pretty democratic XD
portuguese accent in Brazil is different in different places
in my state we would say "te" as "tchee"
in others you would use like "tee" or "tay"
xd
