This comes before they fight Queen Beryl, and after the Moon Princess is revealed as Usagi/Sailor Moon, meaning it could be anytime in between... It was at least 2 days before christmas, and Rei still hadn't gotten anything for her friends, or even her grandfather. It seemed to her that christmas was a waste of time, since she barely had any friends to give presents to, her mother died and she barely sees her father, and he doesn't even come visit her at the temple. She had given up on christmas all together. Having been called a scrooge by her friends, she stormed off back to the temple where she had found her grandfather hanging a wreath on one of the doors, as well as mistletoe between two posts, and a tree, in middle of the walkway, was decorated with garland, ornaments, and a star on top. Her grandfather told her that Yuichiro had helped him decorate for the most part, but had to leave soon to run some errands. She had then told her grandfather to get rid of it all and that nobody likes christmas anymore. They continued on an argument when suddenly Yuichiro and Usagi show up, Usagi wanting to talk to Rei about what happened earlier, and Yuichiro just staying quiet for most of it. She then stormed off as well as Rei's Grandfather and Usagi, leaving Yuichiro dumbstruck. That night while everyone else was asleep, Rei lay awake in bed pondering, but not being able to figure out what christmas was all about anyway, when she heard a bang come from outside. She went outside with her Transformation Pen, not knowing if it was a Youma or not, or maybe even one of Beryl's Henchmen. She took a flashlight with her too. She looked around the spot where the noise had come from, but nothing was there. A rustling had come from the bushes, she went to look but it was just a neighborhood cat. She sighed in relief, but she turned back around she was frozen solid. Standing right before her, was a woman who had the same facial features as Rei, brown eyes, and dark hair. it was Rei's mother. She had told Rei how disappointed she was in her daughter for forgetting the true meaning on the christmas season, and in the next few hours she would be visited by 3 ghosts. Having wanted to talk to her mom about everything going on, she turned her head towards the christmas tree for a split second, and had turned her head back the next minute finding her mother not there. An hour or so after seeing her mother's ghost, she had heard another sound, and this time it wasn't coming from outside, but from her closet. She took one of the ofuda scrolls and threw it at the door, the noise stopped. She turned back to see what looked like Queen Serenity, as the ghost of Christmas Past. Queen Serenity had then showed her one christmas when her mother was still alive and her father was sitting right beside, all of them smiling. Rei's father was then about open his present when the phone rang, telling him he had become a politician, but he would have to come to work that day. Rei then saw the first year after her mother had died. She was giving her grandfather a lot of trouble, saying she couldn't stand being there, and storming off. She had gotten a little better after that, and realized she probably shouldn't have treated her grandfather the way she did. Just a half hour after the first ghost arrived, this time in the flame, looking exactly like her father, being the ghost of christmas present. She didn't want to go with him, but he pulled her arm and they fell into a hole, where she then saw nothing but black around her, with the ghost showing up and telling her that she doesn't have it as bad as some people out there, with nobody to spend christmas time with. The lights suddenly came on, showing an apartment, clean, tidy, baked goods on the counter and christmas music playing on the radio that had been left on, but she then heard someone coming for the bedroom, and in Pajamas, saw Mako-chan, with a picture in her hand, and tears streaming down her face, but Rei couldn't figure out why until Mako-chan placed it down onto the table getting a cookie from the plate on the counter. Rei looked at the picture, with a young Mako-chan, and a woman with a man, who had both resembled Mako-chan in one way or another, with words written across the glass saying "I miss you". The ghost had then told her that her parents died when she was young. She has also moved around so much, and doesn't have any other relatives to spend time with. "I had no idea. Why didn't Mako-chan say anything? She would have been more than welcome to spend christmas with us." The ghost told her that while it's a nice gesture, it could never replace what Makoto's lost. Not too long after the 2nd ghost, the 3rd one had come, the ghost of christmas yet to come, not speaking a word, but had grabbed her arm taking her into the future. She was shown as an old temple priestess, with a rundown temple behind her, which she had recognized as the Hikawa Shrine. The ghost had taken it's hood off revealing who they looked like. the girl had pink hair with pigtails and odangos, but shaped differently from Usagi's, and said in a high pitched voice that nobody had come to the temple for almost a decade, leaving the woman broke, starving, and with nobody at all, except the temple. A man walked up the steps to the rundown shrine giving the older Rei a slip of paper telling her to leave the shrine, and if she doesn't will be removed by force. After the man left, the older Rei's left side felt weird. She then dropped down to the ground, not moving. She had had a heart attack. Rei was shouting for help for her older self, but no one came. She felt her older selves pulse but it was too late. She had died, and all alone. She started crying, and wondering if could change at all. She didn't want to die alone. The next morning Rei awoke with high spirits, and ready to face the world with a warm, welcoming attitude. She immediately went to the mall buying everyone special gifts, she knew they would like. After all that was done, she went over to Mako-chan's apartment, inviting her over to the shrine for a christmas feast, telling her everyone was invited.Merry Christmas

Jadeite's Christmas Carol, Part One
PLACE: Azabu-Juuban, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan, Terra CHRISTMAS: Five Years after Stars REALITY: Anime (I consider each version an alternate reality)
December 22, 4:15 p.m.
Beryl was dead. No doubt about that. She had been dead for twelve years. The Dark kingdom was but a distant memory for the Senshi. Yet, one minion had remained. Frozen in time, he was released upon the downfall, and the only surviving member of a board of stockholders for Transnational Gems International, or TGI, as it was called. He was a young Chinese man who spoke twelve languages. His name: Shen En Bao, or En Bao Shen as the English speakers like to say. He inherited the entire company, and ran the company to its highest profits ever for a gem company. Unfortunately, Mr. Shen was a miserly owner or TGI: His company was repeatedly fined for safety violations in almost 85 countries, including every one in Europe and Africa. Let's just say this: Its official motto was "How Else Could Fortune Last Forever?" However, its other motto was "How Many Workers Died for That Rock?"
Rei walked into the new TGI Flagship store, which had once been Osa-P to notice Mayumi Osaka at the counter, slaving away for the customers. Business was good for Christmas. Just then, En Bao Shen walked through the door, his assistant behind him. He had blonde curls in a short cut atop his head, and the most gorgeous blue eyes Rei had ever seen, except for that Tennou Jadeite - but he couldn't be Jadeite, could he?
It was Jadeite, but he had assumed his former identity of En Bao Shen. No powers, no magic, no evil - okay, he was stingy and only followed the letter of the law, but who cares? He barked at his assistant, the daughter of the former owner of Osa-P.
"Naru, I need those after Christmas Sales ready YESTERDAY!" "They're ready, sir." Naru trotted behind him like a whipped horse. She needed this job, because the job market was shrinking for women her age. "Excuse me, Miss Osaka, but this came for you today." Naru looked pleadingly at Jadeite. "Fine."
She opened up the envelope. It was an invitation to go to the Hilton Roppongi on Christmas Eve, by a Sanjouin Masato. (What? How did HE get back into the world?)
"May I have Christmas Eve off, Shen-san?" "Hmph. Another excuse to rob an honest businessman of his wages. Fine. But you will be here throughout New Years', got it?" Everyone in earshot gasped. Nobody did that to anybody, especially in Japan! "Relax. It will be a skeleton crew. You, your mother, and the Rei shook her head. What a jerk.
Naru, Mayumi, and Jadeite closed up. A cheap noodle supper and a case of beer later, he went to his house, where upon the screens of the dilapidated door he saw....QUEEN BERYL?!
"Jedaito......"
It was a mistake! She was destroyed! He ran inside the house, and slammed the door. But then, in the paintings on the wall...Queen Beryl again!
"Jedaito......."
Rattling of chains. Queen Beryl all over the portraits! He covered his ears and eyes, wanting it to stop.
"Jedaito......."
He turned on a DVD. But what was this?! QUEEN BERYL WAS ON THAT TOO! He turned it off - or did he?
Then, to his horror, Queen Beryl climbed out of the TV. Her hair was now jet black, with white skin. Her clothes were ripped. Her hands dangled lifelessly on her wrists. But, worst of all, she wore a large, jangling chain, with skulls and bones of metal upon her.
"Jedaito, look upon me, your former Queen."
"Former Queen my #&$! You're bad noodles!"
She threw the metal bone chain on his lap. It struck him-hard. This was real!
"Your majesty...what is this for?"
"I am wearing the chain I forged in life. I made it link by link, yard by yard, human by human. Metallia herself wears a chain just a little bit longer than mine. And yet..." she could not speak, as her eyes grew wide in horror.
"And yet?"
"Your chain was as long as mine five years ago. And you have added MORE! But, it is too late for me. I am residing in the pain of my ways. How is TGI? Banned in the US for its practices of mining blood diamonds?"
"Oh come on! I drove the company into its biggest profits ever! It's now global! It's a great business!"
"MANKIND IS OUR BUSINESS, THE BUSINESS OF KINGS!"
"And yet you preach to me, why? When you are stewing in your fate?"
"I came for pity, child. Pity for you."
"What pity?"
"You will be visited by three spirits. Expect the first one at midnight. The next will come immediately following the last. Heed their words, my boy. I always loved you, and I wish to save you my fate."
Beryl opened the window, and the shrieks of those in white clothing and black chains rose into Jadeite's ears. She lifted her lifeless hands up, dangling at the ends of her arms.
"My hands are useless now, but you can still use yours. Heeds the spirits' words, my love!"
And out the window she flew.

Jadeite's Christmas Carol, Part Two
STAVE TWO
The clock struck midnight. Jadeite's eyes darted awake. The spirit was coming. The cheap threads did nothing to keep him warm in the suddenly cold room.
A light shined through the window. Warm fire gleamed through, and a figure of smoldering flames appeared. It looked like....Zoisite?!
"Zoisite? How can it be?" "I only assumed the form you needed. I do not have a real shape. I am spirit." "You must be the Spirit I am expecting." "The Ghost of Christmas Past." "Long past?" "Just like the others. Your past, silly." "Well, you do have Zoisite's attitude." "Come, we'll walk into the ashes."
Jadeite took the Ghost's hand, and they walked into the fire. No burning, and then they went....
It was back into the palace on Earth, and Helios was sending people off. Nephrite to celebrations in Greenland and Canada, Zoisite to Germany, and Kunzite to Bethlehem and Ethiopia.
But young Jadeite was left behind. He sat on the sofa, only Endymion and his family coming to greet him. And Endymion had snuck Serenity from the moon, along with a friend of hers, with black hair. It was the Mars Princess! She smiled, and greeted him.
"Good evening. Merry Christmas to you." "Merry Christmas." And they danced together.
The Spirit sighed."Ah, the memories. You did live without them for a long time." "Soon after, we secretly married. Her purity remained intact, even as we, say, consummated. A married priestess did not lose her purity, if she remained a virgin until then." "But you did go to Queen Beryl in order to have her quicker, did you not?" "Yes. And I regret that mistake for all time." "So did she. I hear Rei is still a virgin?" "Excuse me?" "Let's go sometime else."
Jadeite was now En Bao Shen, on the Board of Directors for Transnational Gems, at the time an heiress' upstart jewelry store in Iceland. They were in a staff meeting. All the Shitennou were there.
"Gentlemen, it is my greatest privilege to reveal my true nature. I am Queen Beryl, here to help you find Prince Endymion." All of the four men were stunned. "You mean it's real?" asked Mordecai Goldberg, who was actually Kunzite. "Yes. If you take your stones and find them together, we will find Endymion, and your women. Remember them?" "Yes, I remember now!" exclaimed the young Jadeite. "Rei! Endymion!" "Gentlemen, your stones?" She laid four stones out on the table. En Bao's was a stunning emerald green, with a pearly essence. "Yes, yes, give it to me!" "Calm down, guys! We need to think it through!" "Mordecai! Stuff it!"
Jadeite exclaimed, "No! Listen to him! He was wary of this woman! LISTEN TO HIM!" The Spirit blandly replied, "He can't hear you. He's a mere ashen shadow of what was." "Ashen shadows! No more ashen shadows!" "Don't you want to see how your fellow men fared?" "I know how they did! Died in battle!" "You must!" "SHOW ME NO MORE!" He shoved the Ghost into the ocean, pushing him down. The Ghost screamed all the way.
"THE PAST IS ASHES! THE PAST IS ASHES! THE PAST IS ASHES!"

Jadeite's Christmas Carol Part Three
Once the Ghost of Christmas Past was extinguished, another one came. It resembled Nephrite, but in a Santa outfit.
"Jadeite! Hello! It is I, the Ghost of Christmas Present! Look at me, for you never seen the likes of me before!"
"You look like my friend."
"You can't say I look like my brothers, necause you never met any of them."
"True. What is that in your hand?"
"It is for you. Take, for it is cold out here. Drink it quickly."
Jadeite did. It was warm, and filling. It also made him feel light as a feather.
"That, my friend, is the Milk of Human Kindness. Come, let us go. Touch my robe."
Jadeite did, and the two were immediately in the vicinity of a Sunday School, where Jadeite watched the Osaka family put on a play about the birth of a certain Jesus Christ in Bethlehem. What was especially good, was the Song of the Little Star, sung by a young girl sitting on a small seat hung in the air. When she was finished, Naru came and carried the girl off stage.
"Who is that girl?"
"That is the fourth daughter of the Osaka family. She was crippled in an accident which killed her father, who saved her life."
"So the Osaka family are widowed?"
"Yes. They have no relatives living. And the salary of the boss does not pay for medical care."
"Now what's that supposed to mean?!"
"Only this: If these shadows remain unaltered by the Future, the child will die. And she had better do it. Out with the excess population!"
Jadeite was flabbergasted, for he uttered that last sentence to a pair of charity workers he had forgotten about that very morning.
The family went home - to Naru's one-room apartment.
"I didn't know they only lived in one room!" exclaimed Jadeite.
"They did it to save on the bills," replied the Spirit.
They ate Christmas Chicken and Christmas Cake - both being cheap, small versions, on a tight budget.
Naru then got dressed and ready to go in her best dress. A man came to the door, walking with the gait, loving gaze and silken voice that was...Nephrite?!
"The three you lost were sent back as well. They did not want to be in the comany anymore."
The two embraced and left.
"At least she could play hard to get."
Jadeite shook his head. It was true love.
"And you want to cut that short?"
"She'll be uneasy the next day."
"You could have that happiness, too."
Jadeite immediately thought of Rei.
"Why don't we go see some of your friends?"
The Spirit took Jadeite on a journey across the globe: Christmas in Bethlehem, Beijing, Siberia, London, and Paris, where he saw a pair of old comrades: Zoisite and Kunzite. They were walking along the Seine, taking in the lights. They stopped at a riverbank and kissed.
Jadeite smiled. They finally acknowledged their feelings for each other.
"Their love is what saved them, I think. They're going to an orphanage to celebrate with the children. Games, good food, gifts...all the trimmings."
"Wow. Never thought of that."
"I'm beginning to think you walk through the world eyes wide shut."
Back on the streets of Juuban, the Spirit's face grew old. And somewhat attractive, strangely. If this was what Nephrite will look like older, maybe...nah. He was set on Rei.
"You're so old."
"My time on this planet is but one day. It ends tonight."
"Forgive me for asking, Spirit, but...what is crawling around on your back?"
"They are the children of avarice and greed." He turned around, and two bony children with the appearance of gaunt youma came and scurried around at Jadeite's legs. They pinned him to the ground.
Jadeite screamed. "Don't you recognize them? They are yours. Ignorance and Want." The Spirit pointed to the boy and girl, respectively.
On the boy's forehead was this symbol:

That is the symbol for doom.
"If you acknowledge their existence, but do nothing about it, that which is written on his forehead will be your fate." The Spirit snapped its fingers, and they came back to him, disappearing ins his shadow.
A bell tolled midnight. The Spirit of Christmas Present vanished.

Jadeite's Christmas Carol, Part Four
*****
"Spirit! Where are you?!" As the bells finished ringing, Jadeite was left on the streets, shivering and alone. Nobody was there - save for one man on the sidewalk. He had long white hair and a jacket, with Kunzite's familiar face.
"Excuse me...are you the Ghost of Christmas Future?"
The man kept walking on.
"Sir? Sir! Are you the Ghost of Christmas Future?!"
"HE is not....I am."
Jadeite turned around, searching for the voice. All he found was a black cloak in tatters enveloping a shadowy figure. It had two glowing orbs for eyes, and circled its bony hands around a seeing globe.
"Are you the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come?"
The Ghost nodded its...head?
"What is that I see?" Jadeite pointed to the orb. "Is that...what you are here to show me?"
The Ghost nodded again.
"Time is precious to me - I know that now. Lead on, Spirit, lead on."
The Ghost placed the orb in Jadeite's hands. Suddenly, he was back at the flagship store of TGI...but it was closed, and the building being hit with dynamite. The dust and debris whizzed past Jadeite's form, but went through him, for these things had not happened yet.
Jadeite mourned. Queen Beryl would not let this happen if she were alive. He wept bitterly, for the store.
The Spirit approached him again, telling him to touch the orb. Jadeite watched, back at his penthouse apartment in Roppongi, that the servants were removing his things from his apartment.
"What - what are you doing? This is MY STUFF! STOP IT!" He tried to run again, trying to stop the people from taking his things. They ran through him, like the debris, for this had not happened yet.
What truly disturbed him was the cheerful nature of their working.
"Do you know this guy?" "Nah - all I know is that he took over a local jewelry store. After that, his company was boycotted after the use of blood diamonds led to a link with terrorists. Glad his company was dismantled as it went under." "Yeah. Sweet revenge." "Never thought a death could bring happiness."
Jadeite pleaded with the Spirit, "Is there anyone who mourns my death?"
The Spirit transported him to his funeral.
There were only fifteen people there. Rei conducted the cremation rituals. All the senshi sat quietly. So did Naru and Mayumi Osaka.
Funny, it seemed the only people there were those who had known of his existence in his former life as Shitennou, and the Osaka women; nobody else. Was he that friendless? And what of his friends?
Soon, three others entered. It was his old friends. Nephrite sat by Naru, the other two near the Outer Senshi.
And another woman arrived. She stood up to give the Eulogy.
"I am so sad for this day. It is awful that a man such as Omake Kenji had to leave this world so soon, and yet he lived a full and wonderful life."
"Um, excuse me madam, but this is not the funeral for Okame Kenji," replied Naru.
"Who is it for, then?"
"En Bao Shen."
The woman kicked the casket and stormed out.
"Does anybody know how he died?"
"Gunshot wound to the head. He died a poor beggar after his jewelry company went under paying hefty fines for the Diamond Mine Wars in Central Africa."
"I feel somewhat guilty," interjected Kunzite, "because I led the revolt to shut down the diamond mines in Africa he used. If I had known, I would have spoken to him before starting revolts."
"It wasn't your fault. None of us knew he was behind it," Zoisite replied, trying to comfort him.
"None of us knew he was alive," said Nephrite. "Last week was the first time we heard about him, and we took planes to get here."
"We were all shocked to learn of his existence. Naru, Mayumi - did he give any inclination as to who or what he was?"
"Of course not."
"Maybe he was so busy chasing profits that now is the first time anybody gave him the time of day."
"And it was only us. I'm surprised all of us are here."
"We are here in support of Rei."
"And I'm here because of what he might have been," replied Mayumi.
"Have you found your sister yet?"
"No. The police have given up. We'll try to find her on our own."
Jadeite suddenly perked up. "Police?"
"Yes. She went to work as a teacher's aide, and then was kidnapped."
"Will they find her?"
"She is already dead."
"Is it Reiko?"
"No. Reiko died three years prior to this."
Jadeite mourned. Then he made a resolution.
"Tell me Spirit, are these the shadows that will be, or the shadows that may be?"
The Spirit was silent.
"If nothing else, let me remember Christmas to help those little girls I do not see."
The Spirit shook his head.
"Why do you not speak to me? Is this truly my fate? WHY SHOW ME THESE THINGS IF I AM PAST ALL HOPE?!"
The Spirit said nothing.
"I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the Past, Present and Future. Their lessons I will take to heart, only please let me make a difference to the people!"
The Spirit collapsed into a set of sheets.

Jadeite's Christmas Carol, Conclusion
*******
Jadeite crushed the sheets. He then looked around. He was in his own bed, in his own house. And it was early morning, before dawn.
He looked at his phone date indicator. 12/24. Christmas Eve.
Jadeite immediately gave Naru and Mayumi some time off on Christmas Day, so they could enjoy their celebrations.
After getting some last-minute date reservations, Jadeite went to Hikawa Shrine to ask Rei on a date.
"So, Jadeite, you're back to destroy me?"
"No, I'm here to ask you out for Christmas."
"I'm not going to go. I'm perfectly happy as a miko, and you want only one thing from me."
"You on a date?"
"You know what I mean."
"That's not what I want tonight. It's just a date. It's fairly obvious what you think about men in general, thanks to your father."
"You know nothing about my father."
"I know he left your mother in the hospital while she was dying. Now Rei, I'm not that kind of guy. I'd rather stay with a woman I loved while she died than anything else."
"You don't understand. You're just saying that to get into my hakama."
"I wasn't even planning on that! But if you want me to..." them.
*****
Later, Jadeite made the Osaka women partners at TGI, which became a dealer in conflict-free diamonds, whose origins were of peaceful places, and mined in places that did not use child labor. Sweeping changes to improve safety and morale of workers also helped, resulting in bans on their business lifted from countries who had raised them.
Jadeite also got in touch with his fellow Tennou, and they returned to the company as silent partners, but mostly as friends.
This was also good for Jadeite's prospects as a nakodo arranged a marriage with Rei, Kunzite acting as his family. Of course Rei was the match due to her father's high political ranking, but Jadeite cared little for such things.
*****
Jadeite learned more and more about Christmas, and kept it gleefully in his heart. He was eventually the authority for Christmas in Azabu-Juuban, and eventually the world. And he did honor and keep Christmas year round. He and Rei married and had at least two children. And they lived happily ever after - or at least until the next interstellar megalomaniac set their eyes on the Solar System.
Jadeite made a tearful plea. "Rei, please, for my sake, help me. If you don't come on this date, I'll be forced to do karaoke with this guy."
"Okay, I'll come."
The date was a wonderful time for both of
