Like it says above, this is a journal for Demens, my Windigo. He will be posting in it in a diary format and I, for the most part, will be uninvolved by the time his later stages come about.
Windigos originated from Algonquin myth. They are cold-hearted and ruthless beasts who possess the souls and bodies of humans in order to walk among those in the physical world. There are many bone-chilling tales of those caught under the windigos influence suddenly turning on their companions on a cold winter hunting trip. Hunger and violence are their trademarks, and once someone has been influenced he or she will turn on any human present with the desire the tear their flesh from their bones and sate their own hunger.
The windigo's, as a society, look to and are decended from one of the three original Ancients. There is Wagosh, the weakest of the three whose name means 'fox'. She believes that humans are necessary and should be looked after. Next is Makwa, 'bear', who is stronger than her younger sister and believes the opposite: that humans are simply tools and deserve no respect, only to be killed and used. Last, the strongest and fairest of the three, is Maigan, 'wolf'. It is she who keeps the peace between her sisters and looks at humans as necessary to the survival of their species, but still a tool...somewhere between the extremes of her sisters.
Demens' himself is decended from Maigan.

  The residence of this particular Windigo is unusual and isolated. A Japanese restaurant flashed it's boldly coloured sign over the deserted street. Few people ever pay attention to their surroundings in this place. They come for the mediocre food, they drink the stale sake, and then they leave nothing but dirty plates and stale air behind.
The entrance to the windigo's lair is hidden down the neglected alley beside this building. Barrels, crates and trash cans hide the alley from view most of the time, and the flashing sign of the restaurant casts it in unsure shadows so that most eyes pass right by it.
The lone door looks unused and rusted shut, and the concrete walls are stained with graffiti in exotic shapes. Most of the words and kanji have become part of the wall, shadows that have yet more symbols and words laid upon them.
It is behind that rusted door that the creature makes its home.

Many Japanese lanterns hang from the cieling, casting multi-hued shadows on the wall and giving the small room a haunting glow. A windchime hangs among them, shaped like a fish, and though there is no wind it makes it soft music.
A few shelves line the walls, topped with oddities old and new. The first one bears short, squat jars with corks holding their contents in. There are three taller jars, and their contents look deadly sweet.
The next shelf bears a collection of tattered toys, the first of which is a worn silver koi whose glass eyes stare out blindly. Two octopus toys follow, one bearing a knowing smile and the other's blue tentacles hanging limply off the shelf. They are followed by a blue stuffed cat with a flickering flame casting even more shadows along the walls. Next is a small blue dragon, it's glass eyes reflecting everything but showing nothingin thier depths. Lastly there is a round batwinged creature with an evil smile that seems to follow you around the room
The third shelf is near empty except for a gift given by a close friend...more like an offering meant to encourage appeasement. A fine porcelain sake set is arranged artistically along the edge. Their depths are empty for now, but they will soon be filled with the bitter drink.
The shelf below that is quite small, but holds an important item. Upon tat shelf sits a jester's hat. The teal ends are decorated by bells, and the colour changes from blue to purple to black along it's length. Fish scales are embroidered over this. One day Demens will wear it, but for now it sits upon the shelf.
In the corner of the room there is a small pond, refilling itself endlessly from three tiny waterfalls. The water gurgles in counter with the chime that hangs above it, and inside swim five koi, though one seems more ephameral than the ohers. One by one they come to the surface, thier gaping mouths searching for nonexistant food, and one by one they disappear under the water again to circle in its shallow depths, swimming among shadows cast by the bamboo decorations.
Behind the pond a lone cage held by a curving stand holds a single butterfly. An orchid blooms below the insect, but as caged as it is it can never make it to the sweet necter it is constantly teased with.

Name: Demens Means "out of one's mind , insane, senseless"

Description: Demens stand at 6'1", towering above his guardian. His skin is a dark slate grey unless he has put an illusion over himself to walk unnoticed among the humans. Piercing aqua eyes curve like a cats and bear a slitted pupil. He is built long and lithe, muscles easily showing in the skin he has chosen. Long fingers end in claws, and his wrists are decorated with colourful cuffs held in place by silver bracelets bearing bells. Long inky black hair cascades in two tail from under his scaled jester hat, attaching to the bracelets. Both shirt and pants have a habit of showing tantalizing amounds of skin. He prefers to go barefoot, and around his ankles rest two more belled silver bracelets.
Personality: Demens is a weaving of several aspects held together by the skin of his host. Okugi has only been heard as a small echo, but he retains little control over the windigo's full form or personality. On the surface Demens is often confusing and difficult to predict. This comes from the games that he is constantly playing with other people's minds and perceptions. He is full of mischief and trickery, but none is as innocent in nature as most jester's tricks are. Rather, he will laugh and cackle, but only while he has your head in his hands. He revels in the control he can have over others, the ability to manipulate and strike terror in them. The knowledge that he has that they don't. Those around him are often in a state of uncertainty or confusion. A conversation with him is never as simple or innocent as it appears.
Below the surface there is little known about the windigo. Glimpses of his other side only come when he's alone with the koi in his lair, or when he's chosen to let his butterfly feed. As he is alone when these things happen, no one knows of them.
Due to his nature, he is very possessive of his 'toys'. Whether they be his prey, those who work in the sushi bar that has come under his control, or his guardian. He may do whatever he pleases to them, of course, because they are his toys, but no one else may touch them.
Powers: Along with his dominant powers of illusion and persuasion, befitting his jester influence, the bells on his hat, bracelets, and anklets only rarely ring, and cause an odd effect in those who hear them. Prolonged exposrure is sure to drive his victims insane.
Likes: Koi, sushi, tricks, his silver koi plush, his toys, playing games
Dislikes: weakness, those better than him, those who win his games

Name: Okugi Nodoka Means "quiet secret"
Age: 17
Description: Okugi is about average height at 5'7. He has green eyes, likely from some part of him that isn't entirely Japanese, and shaggy back hair that reaches his shoulders at its longest points. Due to lack of money for excess food, he's a bit skinny. When not in his uniform he can usually be found in a style best described as 'light' punk/goth. He has no problems with a bit of makeup here and there, usually limited to eyeliner, and his clothes are often black.
Personality: Though he appears to be a slacker and underachiever to anyone who has just met him, Okugi is a hard worker who earns every penny he gets, though what he gets isn't very much. In the kitchen of the restaurant he works at he is a cocky self-assured arrogant joker, but when he passes through the doors the customers see a polite young man serving them dinner.
Though prone to breaking a few rules here and there, like sipping sake between servings, he desperately tries to keep his life together. Living alone, on a small wage and paying for school on top of everything else gives him a snappy attitude and a quick temper.
Though not supersticious, he has a respect for the supernatural such as spirits and ghosts. His granfather, now dead, taught him that one should always be aware of and respect those not on the physical plane. Old Nodoka passed away some time ago, leaving his teachings behind, though Okugi never forgot them.
Likes: sake, sushi, himself, money, parties
Dislikes: Ayama, idiots, people who don't tip well, life
Powers: Okugi was chosen by Demens due to his power to see spirits and actually interadct with the aura.

Name: Chayse Harcourt Means "bold hunter"
Age: 18
Description: Chayse isn't the most intimidating of people. He stands approximatly 5'4" and is built rather thing and androgenously. His wavey red hair reaches a bit past his chin and sets off his eyes, which can be either green or blue depending on the light. He can usually be found dressed well, as he's in no state of poverty, and favours fashionable clothes that aren't horrendously over-priced.
Personality: Due to being a redhead, an unwritten rule has made him stubborn and quite capable of a huge and fiery temper. However, it takes a while to light this firecracker, and he's more apt to just stew over his problems and figure out a way to fix them. He can come off as stressed when school comes up, as he's going through university doing an honours degree in English. He's rather intelligent inthe common sense department, and despises a state of ignorance, like what he's in with Demens. He is very unaware of windigo's culture, behaviour, society, and through research is trying to learn more. Until then, it's trial and error.
Likes: His boyfriend, not being eaten, Japanese food, knowledge, animals, good books, control
Dislikes: ignorance, fear, being out of control, confusion

Age: 18
Likes: money, girls, success
Dislikes: Okugi, poor people, worthlessness
Description: Ayama is about 6' tall and is Japanese in ethnicity. He has dark brown eyes and short hair that hangs down in perfectly combed and gelled spikes. He's thin, but well built due to playing soccer and basketball in his spare time. Ouside of his work uniform he can usually be found in expensive clothing from some sort of brand name store.
Personality:
Who: A waitress at the restaurant. Okugi has a crush on her.
Age: 17
Likes: money, success, men
Dislikes: pathetic people, violence, cheap clothes
Description: Kimiko is roughly 5'4 and has a curvy figure for someone Japanese. This is likely due to her half American haritage, which lends reason to her lighter skin. Her eyes are a light brown and her dark brown hair reaches mid-back, though she usually puts it up in either a ponytail or buns. Even while working she tends to wear lots of accessories such as bracelets and necklaces as well as many earrings. Her outside of work clothing generally reflects the street fashion of Japan: a myriad of colours and fabrics that somehow ends up looking perfect on her.

Who: Okugi's cousin in Japan. The recipient of many emails.

Other windigo, guardians, and NPS Demens has come across in his journey's.Chayse - My guardian. A pathetic creature really, but easily influenced. He seems quite terrified of me. I will keep him around, if only for amusements' sake.
Okugi - Ah, my pathetic host. Quite the event, I must say, and very amusing to watch him break and succumb to me in the end. Our time in the box together was...memorable. I believe I hear faint echoes of him, the defeated creature.
CWL - The one who has begun to distribute windigo to guardians. I will watch her carefully. She is an untouchable though, due to her windigo.
Sika - I haven't paid much attention to this one. She is also untouchable and a guardian.
Aubrey - Delightfully amusing to annoy while I was an aura. I have yet to bother him in my physical form. His host was rather weak, in my opinion, but I have yet to meet his windigo self.
Shinkansen - A strong host, but quite touchy. A pure delight to torment the few times I was in his presence in my aura form. I believe he is still trapped in his box. Pity he's having so much trouble...heh.
Lacroix - A possible companion. Quite absent-minded I believe, and far too interested in 'balled' humans, otherwise known as females. He was supposed to feast with me while we were auras, perhaps once he possesses that dreadful sack of flesh that is masquerading as his host I will re-extend my invitation.
Fluorescien - An...unsettled individual. Though she is untouchable due to her status as a guardian I doubt I would attempt to victimize her. She seems unbalanced, and would likely taste the same.

 Demens as an Aura. Right now his speech is limited to telepathic pictures and an eerie humming noise. As an aura Demens can pass through most objects. The one exception to this rule seems to be anything containing magic.
As an aura Demens is distant from his guradian, preferring to keep to himself. Although distant, he's not entered into the unfriendly territory, just the solitary kind. He enjoys teasing and annoying others, either windigo or humans, and lets this side of him out when he sees a nice 'victim'
Most of his day is spent by the pond in his lair, watching his koi or swimming with them. He views everything but these fish with a sense of fleeting interest which quickly turns into detachment as he finds something else to examine.
Though unrevealed, there is a deeper and darker side to his personality waiting to manifest itself when he has chosen and obtained a physical form.
 Demens' choice of Target, Okugi Nodoka. He weakened him by playing games with his mind and forcing him to kill two people he knew very well. Not ready to stop at murder, he broke the boy by making him feast on their bodies as well.
Once he possessed him they were pulled into a magical box to complete the transformation to a full windigo.
 Demens lured Okugi into this box where he could complete the full transformation to a windigo. It was stationary for a while, but then an aura of death came over it and it began to move around the floor.
 Demens' final form of windigo. Now he is ready to live out his existance as a complete terror on the humans of the city.
As a full grown windigo he looks to Maigan as his ancestor. He is the first fully-grown windigo of the mutant redou, and was influenced -possibly in a past incarnation- by a jester. His powers have begun to manifest as persuasion and illusion, allowing him to manipulate and confuse at will.

Updates 101304 - Chayse was awarded Demens by some mysterious benefactor. Though he is greatful, Demens gives him the strangest feelings. As a an act of safety Chayse chose to relocate Demens to a more secluded residence, as was the aura's wish. Now to find one...
101404 - A suitable residence was found, and Chayse chose to decorate it with a few things that were found around the Asian sector of the city. The koi were against his better judgement at first, but considering how he reacted to them, it turned out ot be a good idea. Demens also met another aura, Neurotische. Along with this he annoyed two fully-grown windigo, Aubrey and Shin.
101704 - Early this morning Valkiyre dropped by with a few presents for Demens. He wisely listened to Chayse's advice and did not attempt to catch a peek at Demens. This was lucky for him, as Demens was trying to find something with which to satiate his appetite.
101804 - After some prodding by the one who gifted him with Demens, Chayse went on a search for Jester related items. He had been looking before, of course, but the one shop that had anything related to them also had a closed sign on its door. Luckily, accompanied by Valkiyre, Chayse managed to find a shop out of the Asian sector and purchased Demens a hat.
102004 - After a visit to the HQ Chayse is left with questions answered, but even more created. The possession is making him nervous, as his conscience is getting in the way. Demens, however, met a few new windigo and is starting to deliver more information about himself...mostly because Chayse is asking.
102204 - Chayse locked himself out of the house and was forced to spend some time with Demens. Lateri n the day the pair found themselves at the HQ awaiting a ride from Valkiyre and sharing take-out with Sika and a wounded Aubrey.
102804 - Chayse took Demens to the HQ in the hopes of socializing normally. These hopes however, were shattered by one owners nakedness. Though Demens seems unfazed, Chayse remains as red as his hair.
