Can anyone help me? I am trying to argue for Marxism and I need some ideas on how to effectively argue for it. The question is..
If you had the opportunity to organize a new society of several thousand people in some remote newly discovered continent with sufficient yet limited natural resources, which of these ideologies would be the best to organize your society around? Write a 5 page (maximum) essay arguing which ideology would be best in providing an organizing principle that would lead to the most long term successful society. (Assume that your society would have a limited amount of time to develop with little to no outside pressures, yet in time would be forced to deal with the rest of the world.) As you compose your essay, assume that your reader thoroughly understands all of the ideologies we have examined. (He does.) To convince him, you need to anticipate challenges he might raise to your argument and provide the best possible defense for your position.

Seems like their forcing you to pick capitalism because to use marxism you need a devoloped country. I doubt you can do a transitioning economic system can you? If not use socialism. The gov't will be able to trade to abtain neccecary resources, defend from exploitation, and make sure we do not have extreme poor and extreme rich.

I disagree I think they are forcing her to pick a socity based on rationalist planning like communism.

I'd have to agree with obach. With only a few people a planned economy would be very simple. Just run it through direct democracy or councilism.

They say limited though which means eventually they may need to buy goods from outside their borders.

REDGallenger I'd have to agree with obach. With only a few people a planned economy would be very simple. Just run it through direct democracy or councilism. ??? You mean oligarchy?
