What in particular are you looking for? The history of Russian painting, and arts in general, is extremely vast and would take years of intensive studying to master (and months for me at a glance to write out).
In the beginning, much of the art consisted of icons and frescos depicting Christian religious figures. This began with the introduction of Christianity by the Byzantians (namely, Cyril and Methodius, missionaries who brought the religion to this area and shaped the Russian language into what it is today). Most art predating this time period has been lost, considering most tribes in the area were migratory and much of their art would have had to be light and transportable.
As the Slavic people broke away to become their own state, Christian figurines and icons continued to be produced and modified to their importance.
...Honestly, I'm currently taking Art History AP, so my knowledge is not nearly complete. As I stated above, though, it would take months to create a detailed picture and analysis of Russian painters considered "famous".
