The Curse
It is most unfortunate that the new Opposition leader is a monarchist, but I can agree with the comparison to Mark Latham, since the libs are going to be murdered at the next election, especially if they go into it as climate sceptics, so to speak.
There is no need to fret of his leaning towards the monarchy. If you want a peaceful transition to republic, these things take time. It may have been a lot closer had it not been for Howard regurgitating not only the
Menzie-like eyebrows, but also reviving 1950's morals and values. ********. We were pretty close to implementing a White Australia Policy which am almost racist approach to whom we allow to live in our country.
Skills shortage, who couldnt see that coming. I digress. Tony may be the best leader the Libs could have. And the joy of him being in there, almost ensuringing the Labour party to govern forever, I may be wrong. I don't necessarily agree with argument he puts forth (I think) as we are meant to
oppose when in opposition, I felt he could mean as 'blanket opposition' to all things. Which I find unwise, and stupid.
I agree with Tony, in the fact I believe KRudd only wants to push it through to get brownie points at Copenhagen. I don't need to understand all the workings over it, nor am I naive to swallow it as just an extra tax. Power/Water companies don't need an ETS to ******** hike up bills, they got excuses like drought/rising petrol prices/below par infrastructure to use.
But KRudd is all talk, and very little action. At least from where I am standing.
I do agree that money could be better spent on the transition rather than trading pollution. Its been done for years and it only seems there is more to trade, so it seems a little counterproductive. And its not like we are going to stop burning coal or using petrol until the last drop has been squeezed out.
I suppose it is up to Abbotts PR team to see if they can erase past transgressions from the leader of the opposition's past. At the very least, he appears to be a bee in Labours bonnet, and if his presence will stir some REAL action, rather than rhetoric, then bring him on. Turnbull was soft, surprising I thought from a Merchant Banker.
