I suddenly got this great idea for the battle system so read this and give me feedback. I was thinking of introducing Soul Points (SP). This system gives your character SP which tells you how much energy you have left to fight with. Technicians, Weapons, and Witches will all have their own amount of SP (Renamed Spell Points for witches). Example: An attack takes 2 SP to work, if you want both you and your weapon could contribute 1 SP each to use the attack. Abilities and spells will need to be matched with the appropriate amount of SP cost, Ex: Black Star's Big Wave attack would probably cost around 3 SP due to the amount of energy put into the attack. Witches will naturally have more SP because their attacks revolve around spells. Regular moves like attacking with your weapon will not cost SP. I wanted to do this to put a closer bond between Technician and Weapon by making it so that both weapon and technician can contribute points to attacks there will have to be some form of strategy involved.
