General Posting Rules
Please be sure to follow the Terms of Service and Rules and Guidelines here, as in all forums.
Common violations to avoid:
* Flaming & trolling: Posts directed at another member which are hateful, abusive, or intentionally inflammatory are considered flaming. Making intentionally inflammatory or provocative posts to incite responses from other members is considered trolling.
* Spam: Posts that are gibberish, off-topic, contain advertisements or begging, or have low or no content are considered spam. Please ensure that your posts are on topic and contain an appropriate amount of discussable content.
* Sexually explicit content: Posting, requesting, distributing, or offering sexually explicit material is not permitted anywhere on Gaia. Sexually explicit content includes explicit photographs, text, artwork, video, or cybersex conversations.
Artistic nudity is allowed, but any images must be linked to and a nudity warning included in the topic title.
* Art theft: Claiming another persons work as your own or posting artwork that has been copied or traced from other people's artwork, or images created using other people's artwork without permission and credit is considered art theft. Art theft should be reported with a link to the original work.
These rules are taken directly from the picture post forum. Please, avoid being banned - these rules are universally gaian, not just this guild follows these rules. As for an extra rule directly relating to this Guild--
* Harassment: Please do not harass the artists into accepting your offers - especially if you are begging for free art and are unwilling to pay. Artists work hard for their trade, it's disrespectful and annoying to harass them when they've declined.
GUIDELINES ===>
* Money Commissions: This is not necessarily in the rules, but myself, and the rest of these artists are highly recommended not to sell their wares for real money on a site like gaia, without having proper procedures. Gaia moderators can do nothing about an unpaid commission, because they can't oversee your paypal account or theirs. Even if you have the agreement in writing [say, PMs] they have no authority to make the commissioner pay.
I'm warning all artists based on personal experience.
If you insist on selling your artwork for money instead of gold, here are some helpful suggestions.
* Background check is not necessarily necessary, but it could help in trusting the buyer.
* Have them pay half up front.
* Send Work In Progress screenshots/pictures to the buyer so they know they're not being jipped as well.
* When showing the final project, make SURE that you watermark it with something to the extent of big, fuzzy words that could say "Un Paid" [optional]. You could also just send a cropped image, so that they don't get to see the complete image until it's been paid for.
