Silly Symphonies was a series of animated short subjects created by the Walt Disney Studios from 1929 to 1939. 75 shorts were made in total. Donald Duck made his first appearance in a SIlly Symphony short 'The Wise Little Hen') and Pluto made his first appearance without Mickey Mouse in a Silly Symphony short ('Just Dogs'). Silly Symphonies did not usually feature continuing characters (an exception being the characters in The Three Little Pigs which had three sequels).
