I love Yves Saint Laurent's things from back when he was alive and designing. He was just nuts! The really cool thing about him was that he wasn't overconfident -- in fact, shows made him very nervous -- but he didn't mind being a little bit weird.
And, of course, Coco Chanel did beautiful things, but Karl Lagerfeld has turned the company into a flimsy, fruity, ghetto-fabulous trend factory.

Oscar De La Renta is definatly high on my list. Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton, and Marc Jacobs aren't far behind him either. Coco Chanel was amazing during her time, aswell

I have been very impressed with Rodarte recently. The company seems to know how to push the envelope without breaking it open altogether. Some of their newer blouses have these perfect neutral shades, with clean lines but a grungy feel. Very feminine without lace and frills.

As was already said, YSL, Rodarte, Oscar De La Renta, Alexander McQueen(HOW amazing are the spring '10 shoes?).
I feel like a lot of Comme des Garcon's stuff is hit-or-miss, for each season, but when they get it right, I find it fantastic.
I also liked Nina Ricci, before Olivier Theyskens was fired. Now they pretty much suck. Boring, typical, and been done wayyyy too many times before.
John Galliano is also awesome. The shoes this past season were pretty amazing, right up there with the McQueen ones.
Balenciaga, I generally love, but the past few seasons I found disappointing.
threeASFOUR is something I only saw in Spring '10 for the first time, but it was pretty epic, and I should google em.

@Orchestrated Oddities: They have been really disappointing. I haven't seen anything terrible, but nothing's been just fabulous, either. Just kind of "eh".

♨ Marc Jacobs is my lover right now. He really is. XD; I just love how he incorporates so much color into his designs without them looking too tacky. The man is a genius! <33
&& Coco Chanel of course. The designs are just so classic. OHOHOH! Also, Phillip Lim and Alexander Wang. Haha awesome asian designers.
DSquared2 is really hot too. Too bad they barely have any stores in the US.

The following post contains an opinion which is not to be taken personally by anyone who disagrees with it. It's just lighthearted debate! While I have seen some very theatrical pieces from Jeantrix (their show will probably be pretty freakin' entertaining), I don't care for Jeremy Scott. His designs, in my opinion, add nothing to the industry, while still managing to be somewhat ghetto fabulous. The giraffe sweater is cute, but at $250 it is grossly overpriced.

I don't pay much attention to designers, honestly. ^_^;
I really like a lot of Betsey Johnson's clothing, especially her dresses. Marc Jacobs has some great things, too.
And whoever designs the things for Fossil... <3

My favorite designer ever is most definitely Elsa Schiaparelli she was alive and designing around the same time as Coco Chanel but wasn't nearly as famous.
My fave current designers are probably Marc Jacobs and Anna Sui. 3nodding
