History of the Language
I will make this short and the way I understand it:
Since the Philippines have been colonized by so many counties it has evolved into the language we use now. The biggest contributor to the language (I believe) is the Spanish. You would hear a lot of Spanish words used/ mixed with other dialects that is frequently used in the Philippines. Next would be the Chinese mainly for the everyday items/words that are used/ seen in many places (pansit, tsinelas, ate, kuya ETC); Even the Japanese were able to contribute to the language.
Today the Filipinos speak many different dialects (e.g Cebuano. Bicolano, Kakampangan ETC). But the one that is most commonly used and known by majority is Tagalog and English. So the official language in the Philippines is known as Tagalog.
Now that you know the History I just want to clarify a few things:
•I’m not the best Filipino teacher (heck I’m not even a teacher XD). I would just like to share my knowledge about the language and show how much I love it. I was so inspired by my High School Filipino teacher so much that I have decided to start a forum on how to learn tagalong.(uuuyyyy XD). Please also understand that I'am human too... I make mistakes sad and get lazy and tired too :XP:
•Before Starting I would require those who want to learn tagalong to have a GOOD English- Tagalog or Tagalog-English dictionary with them it will be VERY HANDY trust me (note that not all dictionaries have all the words in it so go look for a GOOD ONE)!!!
•Its alright if you cant find any. I'll be here to translate words for you ^^
