I am currently studying Leviticus and maybe Deuteronomy. These are books a lot of Christians overlook and say oh it's a dry read or thats the law for the jews. But if it was just Jewish law why would it be in the bible? I will be posting verses that peak my interest. Join me if you like. He are the questions I am asking.
1.What is is the cultural context of this verse?
2. What did this verse mean for the Jewish people?
3. Why was this law?
4. How does obeying this verse love God and/ or love others?
5. How does (if so) Jesus's death and resurrection nullify this law?
For instance much of Leviticus so far is about sacrifices to the Lord. Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice so we no longer have to slaughter poor animals for our sins. These laws were important for the Jewish people because it meant forgiveness for their sins. The cultural context is clear. At the time it was showing love for God by giving him your best.
