So I bought Lion brand's chunky/bulky homespun yarn. I hate it so much because it's so lofty, you know? I used it for my knitted costume and I had so much trouble seaming it because of all the fuzziness. I've been trying to make amigurumis with it, too, but I'm STILL having issues using the mattress seam.
If any of you use bulky yarn with your knit/crochet projects, can you please, please, please recommend a good yarn brand that isn't lofty?

Knit Picks Crayon is easy to work with, on the bulky side, and not too lofty. Because its spun much the same way as the Homespun (as in, one strand is spun tight, and it gives the yarn a wavy feel) is gives the same illusion of being lofty and fuzzy, but its not actually lofty and fuzzy. Once you wash it it does fuzz up a bit.

One you can try are Lion Brand Yarn's Jiffy, it's a bit fuzzy but not like Homespun, it's a more or less standard American two ply acrylic. Another one you can try out is Paton's Shetland Chunky. It's 75% acrylic 25% wool machine washable (though not dryable apparently) and same ply type as Jiffy.
And if you're looking for something fun, there is also Moda Dea's Ticker Tape. It's a bulky/chunky weight tape yarn that is surprisingly silky.
