I remember seeing a kiki go on MP for a few k less than average price so i grabbed it and went to resell it....i made LESS than what i bought it for! That's when i quit vending because i didn't want to start buying just lose money vending. How does everyone else work around the tax and still make profit?

For things as expensive as the Kiki, in the range of several hundred thousand gold, I find buying and selling them in the exchange is better. Otherwise the 2% tax isn't a huge problem (for the cheaper stuff).
Or just wait until the item inflates enough that you still make a profit...

Hileron I remember seeing a kiki go on MP for a few k less than average price so i grabbed it and went to resell it....i made LESS than what i bought it for! That's when i quit vending because i didn't want to start buying just lose money vending. How does everyone else work around the tax and still make profit? I factor it in when I purchase items: I don't buy items for immediate resale unless there's enough of a profit margin to cover the tax and make a decent profit. I always calculate it in terms of percentage, since the tax is also a percentage of selling price. So just because an item is selling a thousand or two below the next one doesn't necessarily mean it'll be a good buy for resale. Like everything else in the MP, it depends.

sounds like vending has become more complicated. I have been trying to vend but there are so many items i'm having a hard time remembering what stuff is going for sweatdrop There are lots of items that have come into the game since i played, including cash shop items and EIs (which i don't understand still)

EIs are, as you know, evolving items. So their prices fluctuate on the basis of their poses--awesome stuff/lots of choices will be more expensive, etc.
Anyways.
Just have a calculator (or two) up (I find the one on the computer good enough). Think of the amount you'd like to resell at, then multiply that number by .98. That gives you your profit.
At least, that's what I do... sweatdrop
Though nowadays, when you sell stuff in the MP, there's a little thing at the bottom that does the math for you...

the little addition thing comes with the tektek tool bar. Its uber handy for me.
With items 300k+ I don't like doing the math, so those are mostly investment items, unless there's a HUGE gap between prices.
