The sky was blue, but had dark clouds approaching, it was about to storm. Kevin, Erica and Joe were at White Marsh mall heading to the Suncoast after stopping by Chic Fil A. Erica was staring at the Pocky and Japanese soda hoping Kevin was paying attention to lend her ten bucks. But Kevin and Joe were staring at the manga and anime with that blank, zombie-like stare. Before Kevin could look up towards his friends, zombies stormed through the mall running towards any form of flesh around grabbing onto the old and young, sinking and ripping flesh and muscle of their bodies leaving only tendons and bones. Kevin awoke from his daydream, tears coming from his right eye and his right cheek a rose red looked at Erica whose eyes were glaring at him as if she was staring into his soul. Kevin asked “what you do that for,” rubbing his cheek trying to stop the tingling feeling.
“You weren’t listening to me when I asked you a question three times” yelled Erica.
“What do you want Erica?”
“Can I borrow ten dollars?”
“I guess,” Kevin said reaching into his wallet seeing a moth flying as free as a bird. Kevin looked confused and checked the wallet. He saw thirty bucks he then remembered he had not opened the wallet for money in a week and the moth must have flown into it. Kevin handed her ten dollars walking out the store saying, “hey guys it has been a long time since we have been on the downstairs level lets go do there!”
“But there is nothing down there.” Said Joe in a dull voice.
“So what there is a GameStop” replied Kevin.
“And there is one up here too”
“They didn’t have the game I wanted”
Erica asked Kevin to open the Japanese soda in her bag. Kevin struggled pushing the plastic piece that was the key to push the glass marble that blocks the cap from spilling any of the delicious fruity flavor. Kevin finally got the soda opened and handed it to Erica then headed to the stairs running at full force jumping the rest of the stairs when he reached the fifth step. Joe walked down as if he were an old man. Erica skipped down the stairs being as elegant as an angel without tripping or missing a step. When they reached the bottom they synced back into a line looking at all the vendors. Joe noticed a sign stating “Poe’s stand of horror and all things mystic” Kevin, Joe, and Erica looked at each other determining if they wanted to check it out. Erica said “Panda (Joe’s nickname), Kevin you want to check out this vendor.”
“I guess,” said Kevin and Joe following behind Erica who skipped like a school girl heading to recess. Kevin and Joe thought of a crazy idea. Joe jumped up onto Kevin’s back and yelled “THE FORCE IS STRONG IN THIS ONE,” causing Kevin back pain. Kevin could see the vendor and that’s when he decided Joe had to go “bye Joe see you next fall,” said Kevin letting go of Joe making him fall to the ground. “You d**k,” said Joe pushing himself up to his feet rubbing his lower back. They run towards the vendor and saw a fat man with a beard that was at least 6 inches long with the remains of a fried chicken leg on it.
“Can I help you?” asked the fat man
“Are you Poe?” asked the trio
“Yes I am how I may help you”
“We just going to look around if that’s alright”
“Of course”
Kevin was looking through the glass objects, while Panda and Erica were looking through old spell books and newt tails. Kevin finally saw a case it looked like a bone coffin that he could put his glasses. “Hey Poe how much is this case?” asked Kevin.
“Name your price” stated Poe.
“20 bucks”
“Deal”
Kevin paid for the item and walked out of the small area waiting for Erica and Panda to finish. They both walked out carrying nothing out with them. “You guys ready to go?” asked Kevin.
“Yeah lets go.” said both Joe and Erica.
They left the building and headed towards Prudence, Kevin’s ford probe, walking slowly to feel the rain drops that were falling from the sky like the tears of an angel. Prudence was as white as snow, with a beautiful gloss if washed regularly, she was missing a hubcap. Kevin hoped into the front seat putting the smallest of his friends in the back. “Erica you’re in the back” stated Kevin “because Joe is taller” Erica hopped in the back with a face that was red with fury. Joe hopped in to the passenger with smile on his face. Kevin placed the key in the ignition and turned the key that made the shriek in pain. Teens looked, pointed, and laughed at prudence. Kevin rolled down the window shouting “it’s an old car ******** off,” Kevin sped off towards the exit yielding onto the beltway to Eastern blvd turning to the little road where Joe and Erica lived, Kevin living two streets down from them. They all got out of the car running to the red door of Joe and Erica’s house. Kevin saw another car parked outside, it was Nick’s, and as they reached the door and opened they saw a pile of shoes. They walked up the stairs to see Nick, Paige, Joe and Erica’s little brother, Matt, George, Eric, Jon, and James. “Hi,” shouted Erica “Matt what did we tell you about letting people in without permission.”
“But,” said Matt before being able to finish his sentence.
“But what,” asked Erica?
“I did have permission.”
“From who?”
“Mom fool” Erica stood silent and turned around with a happy face look towards Kevin “thank you for taking me and Joe to the mall.”
Kevin blushed knowing he had a crush on Erica for 8 years but she was dating Paige “no problem” he knew he didn’t have a chance. Kevin opened the case he just bought. “Wow there’s a hand in here” he grabbed the bandage it was wrapped in “oh it’s a monkey’s paw with three fingers still unbroken. Sweet let’s see if it works.”
Joe stated “I’m going to play dynasty warriors 6 empires.”
“I have a better idea let’s just go to the three kingdoms era” said Kevin
“I guess.”
They all closed their eyes and made the wish. They opened their eyes, a bright flash blind them they looked down at the floor where a hole of energy was. They saw Chinese peasants walking around they knew the wish came true but all three fingers of the monkey’s paw broke. “Maybe it was a big wish” stated Kevin. They jumped into the hole except Matt who was told to stay home and didn’t care about going in the first place. The hole shut closed and the want through time see all of the past events until they hit the ground. Kevin stated “we have been warped into a romance.”
