My Thoughts:

Page 17 - This book is interesting, and though I've just started, I've already been drawn deeply into it.

Page 48 - I've just begun to grasp the concept of time in this books, and how henry knows when he will next see claire. That was a really confusing part to me at first but I think I pretty much get it now. How odd would it be to have to reintroduce yourself, and what you've been through, and where you are at in your life every time you saw a person. I suppose you tell them that anyway, but normally, both parties have a general understanding of what is going on with eachother and with the rest of the world.

Page 58 I just finished reading the scene where Henry's father catches him "playing with himself." It was kind of interesting to think about what I would do if I was my own best friend. At first it'd be kind of awkward, but then hell, you might learn some interesting new things about yourself, and might be able to figure out a lot more things and problems then the average person would. You'd be able to step out of your shoes and look at things from a third party's perspective.

Page 250 This is one of those books that seems to just draw me in. I don't know why I think because of the way it is written it entertains me so much. The writing flows that well that I see it as a movie in my head. Kudos to the author. One of the things I've been thinking about - and they mention it a few times in the book, how strange it'd be to meet different versions of the same person. For example say a normal marriage...(heh like their is such a thing) anyway in a normal marriage you grow along with the person, therefor their appearence never quite seems to change because they only change a little each day and you are around them so much you just don't notice. Now picture that persons appearance jumping from age to age to age - you would notice quite a difference each time now wouldn't you? This is an obvious thing, but something that interested me....also having to explain to the person each time you "meet" them where you are at in the relationship...which actually, each persons view of eachother is quite different. In that way Henry and Clares love does not grow together...it grows separately. Hmm....

Page 344 - I have just finished the scene where the couple celebrates New Years on the rooftop. At one point Clare looks across to South Michigan and replies "It's funny, It's already the new year there. I'm sure there all in bed." A simple statement, but when you look into it, these two places are much like Clare and Henry. So close to each other, constantly parallel to one another, however, they both reside in completely separate times.

Book End Wow. I have to say this is one of the few love stories that touched my heart, and had me crying by the end. I loved this book. The way it was written, I could barely bring myself away from it to write my thoughts here. Everything flowed together so well, now THAT is good writing. I was even pleased with the way it ended. Clare and Henry were able to meet one last time, yet the author doesn't tell us what happens during this meaning - she leaves it up to us to decide. I like to think that Clare's waiting is over, maybe she died in her husbands arms. Maybe she kissed him one last time, and told him she loved him. It would bring a beautiful sense of circular balance to the story. Clare was able to hold Henry in her arms during his death, and Henry would be able to do the same - both speaking to eachother of the love they've always had.

Things To Ponder

1. If you could pick either to live your life normally, or time travel as Henry does, which would you choose?

2. After reading the book, how do you think Clare and Henry spent their last moments together?

It's a movie now too. I've had the book for a long time, when I saw the previews for the movie, I was like hey that looks good, and pulled out the book.

Yeah I have a girlfriend who saw the movie and said it was great, she's reading the book too. I'm holding off on the movie till I have a chance to read the book.
