Grading System:This is how everything will be graded, and what percentile of the total grade it will cover. Some of the ways might seem harsh, but please keep in mind that I have a touch of OC (obsessive compulsive) when it comes to written work. I promise you that I will tone it down as much as possible.
-Tests and Quizzes: These will be graded on the correctness of an answer. Spelling is only looked at if I give you a word bank. Because honestly if you cannot spell a word sitting in front of you we have some problems to address.
-Homework: You must have the homework in by the assigned time, because after that points will be docked. If for some reason you are unable to accomplish the task on time, then speak with me. I prefer forewarning to after the fact, but sometimes the unpredictable happens. Never know when your brother is going to blame the broken window on you and get you grounded.
-Projects: Grammar and spelling will be keyed in on intensely for these. You will have plenty of time to complete them, so it shouldn't be a problem. Creativity, but not artistic skills, is taken into account for this. That is why I will ask for rough ideas each time. We aren't all artists, so I won't get it into my head that we are.
-Essays: Effective use of knowledge, and grammar and spelling are taken into account. If you blabber on about the Phantom of the Opera when I want to know what you think of Shintoism, I'm going to have to fail you no matter how awesome the Phantom looks in his mask.
-Participation: Posting and commenting on the lessons will earn you participation points. And participation will count for a good chunk because I need to know that you're not sleeping on me (haha...). I won't crack down incredibly hard on this, but someone who posts about every lesson compared to someone who only turns in homework and tests will get the better grade.
