History: Born from a Scottish Witch and an American Lawyer, Seth Norton's life turned upside down at the age of ten when his mother vanished under suspicious circumstances. The case was never solved, nor was exactly how the Norton house imploded upon itself. Seth's father remarried shortly after to an investigative reporter for the Chicago Oracle. Seth believes this is due to a love potion. After this, stability vanished from Seth's life as his bright but nosy stepmother dragged the broken family around the world in pursuit of a magical conspiracy spanning several continents. She never got the story. Agents of the unknown organization began pursuing them, and what began as a naive adventure turned into a frantic struggle for survival. Hatred of his stepmother and one close call too many drove Seth to get on his broom and take off for Scotland, the location of the famed Hogwarts. The last he heard, his parents had sought asylum in Argentina.
Though he has not attended Hogwarts before now, tutors and frequent trips to libraries around the world have made Seth an accomplished sorcerer, though there are significant gaps in his knowledge that make Hogwarts challenging.
Personality: Jaded and cynical, Seth sports a wry, dark sense of humor and more than his fair share of scar tissue, which has lead some to wonder why he is not in Slytherin. (The sorting hat did present the idea of placing him there, but he asked it to put him in Ravenclaw instead). He is proud, however, of his travels and incorporates things he has bought in various countries into his wardrobe. His major flaw is his temper in response to arrogance. Because of the arrogant nature of his stepmother, poking her nose into everything, he has no qualms about starting a fight over a single arrogant comment. At heart, however, he is a bit of a romantic, a result of the difficulty relationships pose when one travels constantly.

Other: Among Seth's most treasured possessions is his Aethersprite 320 (an American broom), his souvenirs of the world, and his bagpipe, which he plays along with the piano and Egyptian flute. Seth is a parselmouth, and can communicate to some degree with Esrath.
