Last Friday, November 13th, my Great Uncle passed away. He had been very sick for many years and I don't know exactly what had been wrong with him, but I do know that he was on oxygen and in and out of the hospital, always very weak whenever I saw him. I didn't find out about his passing until the next day as my mother was trying to let me still have a good time on my Friday night out with a friend, but when she did tell me she said he signed to give his entire body to science.

As this thought crossed my mind I always came back to the same question of "why?" Science is a great concept in our society, don't get me wrong it's helped enormously with all the technological advancements since the beginning of 'time' but I guess another question I have come up with is "when is it enough?" What exactly is science going to do with the body besides pick it apart? The Human Genome Project, as far as I know, has been finished for years. We know all the bones in the body, both male and female, named them and know how to treat whatever goes wrong with them. All of the organs, named for and studied. The only thing I can think of science doing with a body is finding cures for disease not yet cured for. But if the body is not alive and cannot react as a test subject, what is it used for?

Anyway, I would like to know your thoughts on the idea of giving your body to science after your time has passed. Or even what do you prefer to be done with your body? Not everyone is science gung ho, but not everyone is spiritually inclined either.
