Long ago in the ages forgotten a war was being waged between two powerful kingdoms, Aden and Giran. After twenty years of struggle the nations seem to be at a standstill, neither able to push the other beyond the outpost towns that lied near the border. Occasionally, the towns would be caught in the middle of the two forces. Luthen, a small farm town was one of the unlucky ones. Giran's forces suspected them to be caring for Aden's injured and ransacked the town, leaving nothing left by a smoldering ruin of what was once left of a peaceful town.

Eisen, the wise King of Aden, seeking a means to end the bloodshed as quickly as possible summoned the elders. The elders were a trio of spirits that had in one point of time ruled the kingdom, gifted by mystical powers in the afterlife. The specific power the young King was interested in being that of foresight. It was generally used to find the outcomes of certain events, though the result was rather unspecific. The first time he had invoked his right to use it was to see if any collateral damage would be done by the war to nearby neutral towns. The elders had predicted it so, but could not say which town nor which territory of its residence. The town spoken of happened to be Luthen. This was quickly known as the First Prophecy. When the power was invoked a second time, the obvious name followed suit. The Second Prophecy foresaw a person, undetermined in both gender and affiliation, that would end the war by completing a series of tasks. The elders could not explain the tasks until the Chosen was present, as they referred to this person.

At the same time, Magnius, the Dark Lord of the Kingdom of Giran, was informed of a vision that his seer had foreseen. The powers of this seer must have been stronger than that of the Aden's Elders for she was able to discover the Chosen's identity. Her location was still unknown, however. Magnius, realizing that he could not allow the Chosen to ruin his plans, ordered his men to find and capture this woman.

The fate of two nations lie in the hands of a single woman and her willingness and ability to survive the trials set before her.

Username: Aura_Tenchi
Character Name: Shyki Lianna (SH-EE-KEY LEE-ANN-AH)
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Race: Neko
Appearance: Shyki Lianna
Stature: Thief
Personality: Shyki is a stubborn girl who dislikes being told what to do. She tries to make the best of any situation as long as it can get her a decent meal or even a place to sleep. She tries to keep a distance between her and other people as to not get noticed if something “mysteriously” goes missing. She likes to play innocent and toy with the mind of others if it means keeping them out of her business.
History: Shyki’s father died in a raid when Shyki was only 4. Her mother was quick to hide the girl in the nearby woods of the town before she ran off to draw attention away from Shyki’s hiding location. Unfortunately, her mother never returned for her and there was no trace of her being murdered either. Hence, Shyki was left to wander the open plans in search for a means of survival, and to hopefully find traces of her mother. Due to her appearance, either her neko features or her raged clothes, Shyki was treated like an outcast in many of the towns she visited. It wasn’t until the age of 6, after learning subtle ways to steal necessities such as food and warm clothes, that Shyki ran into a skilled thief, who after a little miss hap of Shyki trying to steal some coins from him, that she was taken in and taught some advanced skills while polishing her abilities of being a thief. She was given a dagger and trained how to defend herself. She even learned how to pick advanced locks and use the shadows to her advantage when sneaking around for intriguing information. Unfortunately, for safety, thieves don’t stay together, and after 3 years, Shyki was forced to travel alone once more. From then on, Shyki was well enough in both skill and agility that she could take care of herself.
Weapon: Dagger
Power: Shyki has the potential to use holy magic in the form of healing. However, Shyki does not know this, so to her own knowledge, she has never used the power before.
Other: Shyki loves cats, but has trouble dealing with dogs. She loves spending her free time in any place serene, such as an open plain of wild flowers, or a small lake near a quiet town. It gives her a peace of mind without the worry of someone hunting her down over some petty thing she might have stolen.

Username: Zeine
Character Name: Lloyd Sidium
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Race: Human
Appearance: Lloyd Sidium
Stature: Town Guard
Personality: Lloyd is a strong hearted young man with an ironically thick shell. Several years of guard and military service taught him that trust was something earned, not given. If misplaced, it was used against you. He learned that the hard way more than once. Due to these experiences, Lloyd changed his carefree boyish nature into a cautious, reserved approach. This didn't mean he didn't know how to have fun. Regardless of his wounded heart, he is still one to make jokes and do practically anything to have a good time.
History: Lloyd can't remember much about his family. He was orphaned at a young age alongside his older brother. His father had been serving in the Aden military and was recently wounded during a battle. It was not severe, but it hindered his abilities and was not permitted to participate in combat until it healed. He, and several other wounded soldiers, were being treated at a nearby town known as Luthen. Later that night while everyone was asleep, a Giran platoon infiltrated the town and wreaked havoc upon its residents. Both soldier and civilian were slaughtered without discrimination. Upon the rising of the sun, the town was left a smoldering ruin of ash and stone, there were no survivors. Lloyd's mother, worried about her beloved husband, decided she would make a short journey to a nearby outpost to question her loves location. She left her two boys behind, leaving them with shelter and food to last through the two days that would be her absence. It wasn't until three weeks later did word reach them that their mother had been found dead not far off from the caravan roads, arrows still pierced into her back. Lloyd and his brother, Icarus, were left to fend for themselves. They had no knowledge of other family and were very much alone in the city.
Ten years passed and the brothers managed to survive in their silent home. Icarus, being the eldest had made it his duty to go out into town to search for odd jobs in order to fund their survival. Lloyd managed to tend to the house while his brother was away, taking care of cooking and cleaning. When he was of ten years, however, he joined his brother in the work life. The town quickly became aware of the brothers' existence through either word of mouth or being one of the many the two would visit in search of work. Several of the townspeople knew them by name, some merchants even offering them a small, yet entirely free, meal or set of supplies. Word eventually made its way to the bordering towns, and then onward...
One morning, there was a knock on the door of their small home. This was quite unusual for they never had any visitors. The occasional guard would come by to question them of mischief, but Lloyd was always careful not to be caught and Icarus... well he just had a way with words. Even when the evidence was against the poor boy, his elder brother could convince otherwise. When the elder opened the door, he was greeted by what appeared to be a noblemen and his armed escorts. After treating their guests to a small feast, the noblemen revealed himself to be a retired general of Aden and had heard of the orphaned pair. The aged man offered them a home in his private castle of a house. Food and shelter would be supplied and all that was to be given in return were chores and errands if they were required. Lloyd was skeptical of the offer, finding it to be overly generous, but as his brother accepted the offer, he had little choice to agree that it was best.
They spent the next three years living with the nobleman, doing whatever chores his countless maids and menservants required of them. Their lives had turned from a poor and ragged home to a luxurious life of, well, luxury. The pair even managed to stumble across the Ex-Generals armory during a session of chores. Curious, the boys paused their chores for the moment and inspected everything they could. Lloyd, being the curious one of the pair, decided to pick up what he later learned was a claymore. A heavy two-handed sword that he soon realized was impossible to lift. Icarus, following suit of his brother, had found himself an old Dai-Katana. This was a light, yet long bladed weapon used for swift, distanced combat. The older boy was able to wield this weapon unlike his brother and held it somewhat proficiently. It was at this moment when Lord Barof, the nobleman to which they lived under, caught the two in the act. Intrigued by their interests and amused by the eldest brother's abilities without proper training, he decided that he would not punish them. Instead, he told them to finish their chores and meet in the courtyard. Eager, they finished within the hour and did just that. Waiting for them was their Lord and behind him, an array of weapons and armor. For the next three years, the aged general trained him with every ounce of his abilities as a forty year war veteran.
The two lived under his roof until they set themselves to join the rank of Aden military. Specifically, the Knights of the White Dragon. The Ex-General spoke highly of their ranks and recommended they continued their training there. Icarus, having far surpassed his younger brother in skill, easily made their ranks and was welcomed with open arms. The seventeen year old Lloyd, however, was denied. He was quite skilled for his age, but that was partly the problem. He was too young, lacking experience of both life and the taking of it. Of course, he likely had more experience in life then the lot of them, but it wasn't in his ability to change their minds. Instead, he took the role of a guard in his home town and has been so since, waiting until his age finally caught up to his maturity.
Weapon: Halberd
Power: Before he and his brother parted ways, Icarus taught him to unleash the inner magics that slept within him and how to control them. With his ever growing knowledge as a knight, he was able to show Lloyd both offensive and defensive ways of the holy path.
Other: Although a guard, Lloyd is often caught disobeying the same rules he enforces. He is good at his job, there is no doubting that, and it is likely that he is the best fighter in the entire town, but something inside of him makes it difficult to punish others. Often, he'll warn people and let them be on their way. In short, he's a bit of a softy.

It was early afternoon, with the small town buzzing with life, by the time a young teenage girl woke up. Her ears had pricked up at the sound of the baker down the street calling out his fresh bread of the day. Lazily, the young girl's eyes opened and she stretched her arms out above her from where she lay on a small stack of hay.

She had been roaming the streets all night for anything to get her hands on, such as stray coins or food. By the time she heard the first noises of the birds chirping and rustling in kitchen homes, she had darted for a nearby stable to hide out in. When the town stands and shops began to open, the owner had come for his horse to leave on an early business errand. He'd missed the feline hiding in the shadows as he gently patted his horse’s neck and led her out the stable. Shyki had watched in silence, unmoving until she was sure he was gone. Then, overtired from the night’s track, she had found a small patch of hay to rest on and quickly fell asleep.

Now that she was well rested, the girl slipped on a small knit cap she stole when she was young to cover her ears and hid her tail around her waist, under her skirt. She had learned long ago that if she wanted to blend with the crowd, she'd have to hide what animal features she had. Fearing the man would return from his errand soon, Shyki quickly slipped out of the stable and made her way down the street. A small yawn had escaped her parted lips, though her right hand tried to hide it, as she roamed slowly closer towards the bakers stand. Her stomach then let out a light grumble for she knew she was only moments away from reaching her destination. All she had to do now was survey the area and wait for the opportune moment to strike, then she could flee the scene with her promised fresh bread, and no one would know the culprit.. If anyone suspected, she'd just act as innocent as always, and if push came to shove, she was quick on her feet. The thought made her heart begin to race and a light smile appeared on her lips.

The streets quickly became crowded as a small band of workers and shopping wives passed by the small stand. Kids bolted around the crowd, close to the small stand as they were playing with dolls and wooden swords. The man seemed occupied with a customer and keeping an eye on the kids who were playing too close to his liking. Shyki knew that she wouldn't get a better chance than this to strike.

The town worked like clockwork. Merchants had today's stock all set up on their individual shops, trying to persuade each customer that theirs was in every way superior than the shop across the way. Guard's stood stiff at every entrance to the town, momentarily breaking their pose to exchange words with their partner. They always traveled in two's, safety reasons most likely. The town crier stood proudly on his wooden crate, informing everyone who could hear over the crowd that it was now one in the afternoon. Some people began to rush as if they were behind schedule while others continued on as if there were no change. Everyone went about their business, following whatever errands or tasks their daily schedule required. Well... all but one.

Lloyd...?

Lloyd, wake up!

Lloyd!

A flying pail of water flew towards the sleeping man, colliding with his head and emptying the liquid inside everywhere. Quickly, the man sat up straight in bed and launched the thing right back at it's source whom ducked around the corner, "For God's sake Lloyd, be careful with that thing!" The young Lloyd mumbled some obscenities about how his assailant could go to hell and the what not. As the man returned, Lloyd gave him a desperate look, "Can I go back to sleep now?" The man made a move for the pail again, but decided against it. Most likely it would make a round trip. "No, it's one in the afternoon. Your shift is about to start in..." He makes sarcastic glance out the window as if to check the time, "...nine hours ago." Lloyd practically threw himself out of bed, soaked sheets flying and all, "Dammit Oren, who the hell wakes up at six?" His boots were barely half way on as he stumbled through the doorway past the fellow guard, whom soon followed. "Not you apparently," The man joked, grabbing Lloyd's cuirass and tossing it to him as if this was a daily routine. A mumbled shut up followed shortly after as he put the tradition guards armor on. "Where am I posted again?" Lloyd asked, head partially stuck fitting the thing down on him. Oren walked over to him, unbuckled the harnesses that held the two plate pieces in place and easily slid the thing into fit. More mumbling, something about thinking it would be quicker this way. "Market District, patrol route," Oren replied, holding back a laugh. "On it!" Lloyd shouted as he opened the door to exit the barracks. A sudden chill was realized, the reason coming short after as Oren shouted to him, "Will you be wearing pants today or shall I hold on to them for now?" The man practically stomped back to him, snatched his pants and quickly pulled them on over his boots and all, mumbled another shut up, and then headed out on his way to fulfill his duties.

Shyki, making a final glance around the area as the baker tried to interest a rather plump woman on a loaf of bread, made her way past the stand, while slipping her hand in like magic to grab a small roll of bread along the front side, where she knew it would not effect the others stacked around it. She then slipped the roll fluidly into the sash tied around her waist and continued down the street as if nothing had occurred. Making such a nice snatch on her first try, though not uncommon, was always a way to keep her day going well. She had learned long ago not to look back when stealing, not unless the owner noticed something was gone and made a fuss to bother the others around them. Looking back only caused unneeded suspicion in case they did notice, but never kicked up a fuss.

After getting enough distance between her and the small stand, Shyki turned the corner to sit off the side of the road and watch the activities around her. "Hmmm...?" She had already taken the bread roll out and started munching on it when a rather large, and fully stuffed pouch caught her eye. Her first thought was that the pouch contained coins and the pack was just too full for it to make noise, for her sensitive ears, even when covered could barely make out any jangling sounds over the roar of the market. By the size and the muscularity of the man, he seemed to be a wandering fighter. Must be nice, carrying so much money around. Nice enough he might want to share. With the bag so full, Shyki was sure he wouldn't mind missing a few coins. After all, she wasn't greedy enough to steal the whole pack from someone when she was good at what she did to begin with. And during such troubling times, everyone would need money from time to time. The only thing that made her hesitant was the obvious bulge of muscles. If she was caught in the act and didn't escape quickly enough, there was sure to be some trouble. Not to mention fighters tend to be more trouble depending on how intelligent they were. Stealing back to back always caused trouble unless the place was too crowded to see and the spot the events occurred were farther apart as to not arouse suspicion to a particular person.

Quickly finishing off the bread roll and liking the crumbs off her fingers, Shyki took a big breath of air to calm herself and began to follow behind the man loosely. She had passed by several jewel shops and cloths racks before she decided to make her move. The crowd had become increasingly dense due to a small band of entertainers calling out for the crowd's attention. The man had only stopped briefly when Shyki snuck in close and pretended to be bumped by a man passing by between her and her target. She then gently hit her target, apologizing in doing so, but before she could grab for the bag, the man grabbed hold of her wrist. Shyki was surprised by the tight grip he held for she'd not even reached for the bag yet, as the man stared down at her speaking a word of caution and warning for her bumping into him. Suddenly Shyki had a sinking feeling as the man's grip tightened on her wrist as he spoke,
"You should be careful young lady. In such a crowded area, someone could get hurt. How about you give me a proper apology someplace where i can actually hear it." Upon getting a closer look at the man, Skyki found a tug at her memory at the familiarity of his face. She'd seen the man several times before when she'd done a more serious heist before as a stand off job for money. She knew there'd be people tracking her, but she never thought of how persistent or well trained the trackers were. Just how important was that pendulum she stole a while back anyways?

Before the girl could protest, she had been yanked from the crowded street by her wrist and pulled along to a more secluded street. Shyki watched in dismay and slight panic as the streets became slightly less busy the more the man turned into back ally after back ally. She could shout for some assistance, but then she'd be blamed for the theft she hadn't even yet committed. Think fast think fast. The sudden thought of injuring the man came to her mind. A simple trick of kicking a bucket to trip the man wouldn't work. A hunter was more agile enough to avoid that. The young girl bit her lip at the next thought. She'd have to slice his hand enough to let her go. The immediate pain would distract him enough to loosen his grip and Shyki would be able to escape. Were there really no other options than to draw more attention to herself? As much as she disliked the idea, there was little time to think if she didn't act quickly.

After a short five minute walk Lloyd had started his patrol duties. He loved patrol duty, or it seemed that way when compared to the others he so commonly had. Gate Post was the worst. Standing in the same exact spot for hours on end with only one person to talk to. Half the time it didn't even seem like there was another person there. The guards rarely talked and if they did they would answer with short one worded phrases. It wasn't surprising that almost every time he would want to knock the other guard's helmet off and tell him to stop being such a stiff, but that was against protocol. Occasionally, a civilian would approach him to ask a question, but that was for the most part uncommon. Not to mention guards on duty weren't allowed to engage in conversation with them unless necessary. Something about avoiding distractions and staying alert. Market post was similar, but had fewer restrictions. Or at least they were easier to get away with. Due to the districts high crowding it was easier to converse with those who passed by. Some would approach the shop you stood next to and ask about your day, at times asking an opinion of the shop. Lloyd was always honest, though not brutally.

Patrol Duty, on the other hand, was by far the best. You were required to wander around the ordered district and make sure peace was maintained and the law was enforced, all that goody goody nonsense. That was basically it. If you were tired, you were allowed to stop for a short rest, be it standing or sitting. Lloyd took full advantage of this during his duties, especially when he was assigned alone. Today wasn't one of those days, but Oren had left him on his own anyway, the lovable oaf. He was a good man though, Lloyd would never say otherwise. If it wasn't for Oren, he would have very little sanity left at this point.

After a good ten minute walk, the young guard decided that he would take a hard earned rest. The lane he was in was rather crowded at the time so to not risk being bumped around during what was suppose to be his relaxing break he slid himself into a nearby alleyway. Leaning up against the wall of what was probably a blacksmith, he tried to shove his hands into his pockets only to remember that the standard guard uniform didn't have them. Cheap bastards... he mumbled under his breath. He held his halberd behind his shorter so he didn't have to weight the whole thing on his arm. It wasn't too heavy, but he felt like doing it anyway.

After some time, the man stopped in an allyway in the back of several shops. One looked like a wooden gift shop, another shop appeared to be clocks. She couldn't tell what the other shops were, do to the fact that they were the back of the shops. The only main items in the back were the bags of trash lying around. Shyki had prepared herself for what was to come. She'd have no problems slicing the man's hand to escape. She just had to find the right opportunity. And with no one else around, there wouldn't be such a huge scene.

Shyki winced as the man refused to slacken his grip on her the whole time he yanked her around. She was sure at this point in time there would be a red mark on her wrist. As long as she didn't have to dislocate it, she was sure she'd be fine. Watching the man carefully as he turned around, she made sure as to show no visible attempt of her reaching for her dagger hidden around her waist.
"Well you've certainly been quite careless theses past few days. Or perhaps have you finally reconsidered to your crime?"

Shyki stared up at the man and gave an innocent smile "I don't know what you're talking about. Clearly you must have me mistaken for someone else. It happens quite often actually. But if you would be kind enough to release my wrist, i can disregard the rather rude treatment you've given me and we can discuss whatever the issue is like proper adults."

The man raised an eyebrow, as if questioning her act as mere Childs play, yet had not lightened his grip in the least.
"Do you honestly think I'd be fooled? You belittle me too much. Where is the pendulum you stole?"

Shyki didn't move her gaze away from the man's own stare, her smile slowly fading. She wouldn't be caught off guard and show guilt. She stole the item rightfully as a job. How else was she supposed to live? "Pendulum? What pendulum? As I mentioned before, you clearly have the wrong person."

The tracker remained just as calm as Shyki, neither willing to back down on what they were saying.
"You can play these games all you like; however, i must warn you that the consequences of not returning what originally wasn't yours to begin with will be quite dire indeed."

"I can't return something I don't have. As I've mentioned before, you've got the wrong person." Shyki was growing slightly impatient. Her gut feeling was that if she wanted to run, she'd have to do so soon, yet the man did seem to be giving her any openings. She'd have to distract him somehow.

The tracker gave a light sigh in response to her statement.
"So basically you're telling me you've already sold it off. What a shame. Though it'll be easy enough to track who you sold it to, getting it back if it's already slipped to other hands will be difficult. I suppose I'll just have to turn you in until I have further orders. What a shame. The law takes no pity for thieves."

"How dare you! You're not listening to a single thing I'm saying. Turn me in? You have no proof it was me! Let me go this instant!" Shyki started to struggle a little, her free arm reaching for her back where the dagger lay hidden against her waist. There was no more hesitating. She had to get away from this man and out of the city. She wouldn't let her self be thrown in some damp, drafty cell. If they'd even caught wind that she wasn't human, she'd probably be traded off as a slave or killed in an instant.

Lloyd really hated this job. It was just so boring. Nothing ever happened and when something did, it was something small like a little kid stole a piece of food or two people bumping into each other and having it out with words, but that's as far as it would ever get. He was grateful that the town was rather peaceful and that they didn't have much to worry about, but if only there was a little more excitement. His mind clung to the memory of the Knights he trained so desperately to join. How adventurous that would be! Journeying to far away lands on secret missions to slay monsters or corrupt rulers, saving princess' and maidens, finding and defeating the leader of a crew of bandits. How he dreamed to join their ranks, to be a knight. He would finally be able to see his brother again after two years apart. His fist clenched slightly, hitting the wall behind him in a slight rage. It would be another year before he had a chance to catch his brother. He wasn't old enough, not yet at least.

He was pulled away from his thoughts when he heard what sounded like a young woman raising her voice. The words were mostly drowned out by the nearby crowd, but what he could make out didn't sound very good. From what he could tell, it seemed like a drunk from the adjacent tavern had gotten a hold of a young girl and was trying to persuade her to join him. It wasn't in his patrol route so he wasn't sure if he should investigate the matter. In the end, he decided he'd have to. It's not like he had much to do at the time. Lloyd pushed himself off the wall and made his way down the alleyways, halberd shouldered careless behind him.

The man attempted to grab Shyki's free arm, but it was already too late, she had grabbed her dagger and struck at the back of his hand. Blood quickly dripped down the edge of the small dagger, hitting the floor. The hunter had slightly loosened his grip on her wrist out of shock from the sudden pain, yet he had not let go. Being as trained as he was, the small cut was nothing compared to his usual scuffles.

Again there was a glint of silver as Shyki tried to strike again, but this time he caught her other wrist and slammed her back into one of the walls near one of the piles of garbage. Slightly stunned by the sudden impact and almost dropping her dagger, the girl quickly tried to shake the feeling off and resorted to kicking, trying to trip the man. "I said let go!" It was just by luck that the you neko managed to wrap her leg around the man's own leg and hit behind his knee with enough force that he buckled down and released his suspect.

Once free, Shyki stumbled to the side on hands and feet in an attempt to get some distance. She had been caught by her ankle however and came to a sudden halt, dropping to the ground as her dagger flew out of her hand a few feet in front of her.
"Do you honestly think I'd let you go after tracking you this far? Either return what was stolen or pay back in full."

Shyki stomped on the hand that held her ankle frantically as she tried to reach for her dagger. "Pay back in full with what? My life? I already told you! I don't have the item! I'm not even the person you’re looking for! Now let me go already!" Clearly the sight of the struggle must have looked ridiculous from any stand point to a professional, yet the hunter hadn't drawn his weapon seeing there was no need to do so for a petty thief; however, that would soon change has his patience with the girl's persistent struggling was beginning to diminish.
PostPosted: Thu Nov 19, 2009 10:28 pm

The struggle seemed to get louder the further he walked. He wasn't sure if he was getting closer or if their voices were just being raised. The words still weren't completely clear, however. The alleyway wasn't able to completely block out the noises from the nearby market, which was starting to be a bigger deal the further he got through. Due to the natural echoes that formed in the halls of an alley, the sounds seemed to bounce around randomly. This caused him to be unable to tell where they had originated. Of course, he knew where the market was. Seventeen years of living hear had taught him that much. The only problem was he didn't know where the source of the dispute was.

Starting to get frustrated with this game of hide and seek, he was about ready to give up. It seemed that by the time he found them the offender probably would have been off with the girl already. That or she'd be lying dead on the ground. Before another option could sneak into the young man's mind, he turned a corner and found the two that had been causing all the commotion. Although he probably should have immediately drew attention to himself in order to draw hesitance from the pair, an instinct inside of him decided it would be better to observe the scene first. The man had his hand grasped around her ankle, which at first made Lloyd believe his initial assumptions were correct. However, when he noticed the blood on his free hand the young wasn't so sure. Not to mention the dagger that laid on the ground was closer in proximity to the woman than it was to the male. Self defense or no, brandishing a weapon and attacking with it was an offense against the law. His conclusion: Both parties would likely be guilty in some form or another. "What exactly is going on here? A young, yet stern voice demanded from behind them.

The hunter glanced around at the sudden sound of the stern voice only to see a young male officer putting a halt to the dispute. He would have immediately brushed the man off stating it wasn't his business, but then thought better of it thinking he may need the help as to avoid drawing his weapon. "Actually I could use some help. If you'd be so kind to hold down--"

Before the hunter could finish the sentence, his head and hand were ruffly kicked, causing him to release Shyki. The sudden apearance of the officer gave Shyki the opportunity she needed to break free. She mad a made dash, grabbing her dagger and running down the allyways.

One of the many things Shyki feared most was getting caught by an enforecer of the law. If accused of stealing, she wouldn't stand a chance of escaping. No law was kind to someone who was ridiculed as a theif, even if there was no proof. Not to mention if they did a complete body check when caught, they'd know she wasn't human. She'd rather kill herself than be someone elses slave, that was to say if she couldn't get away with murder. It seemed odd to be thankful to someone who was a part of that law system. All though she feared getting caught by either man, she was still thankful for the distraction none-the-less.

Quickly hiding the dagger in her sash, Shyki hurried out of the allies, into the open and ran fro the crowded streets. Now that she was seen, if the hunter explained things in depth, she'd have no escape out of town. Tch. Leaving already. Lady luck is so unkind today.

The hunter's voice had made it clear to Lloyd that he was indeed sober. His call for assistance caused the young guard to doubt his intentions further. If he wasn't drunkenly stumbling over this woman, then what was he after? Before he was about to question the man, his victim took her chance and made a run for it. Now the suspicion was drawn to her. There was no need to run from the presence of a guard unless you were worried about being caught yourself. She also had picked up the dagger as she ran off giving a strong indication that it was indeed hers. Now he had to think fast. Although he was suspicious of the man, chasing a criminal was his top priority. Before she could get too far ahead, Lloyd bolted on after her. Even with his heavy halberd on his back, the man was quite fast.

Oren had been on his way to join Lloyd on their patrol when he too had heard the commotion. After a short trek he came to a fallen man, who though injured slightly on the hand, seemed otherwise fine and able. Unsure about approaching him, he stood his ground, "Sir? Are you alright?"

Shyki easily maneuvered her way past the crowd and to another alleyway. She finally came to a stop at the back of a cobblers store to catch her breath, making sure there was room to escape if the need arrived. a small drop of sweat rolled down her cheek, though it was more from worry than being tired of the short flight. The girl began pacing back and forth to think of what to do. It would be a while before she reached the next town. How well would she survive with little to no supplies at all? But it was dangerous to stay. With the hunter in town, and now the guards potentially suspicious of her, it was like begging to be caught if she stayed. Sure she'd been in worse situations, but that didn't mean the thought didn't worry her. Stupid stupid stupid! The whole thing really bothered her. She should have known better. Her thoughts were quickly interrupted however when her sensitive ears, currently on high alert, caught the sound of metal scraping. Had the hunter caught up already? Shouldn't he have been distracted by the patrol unite? There was no time for her to buy, or even steal some supplies or food on the way out of town. Quickly moving her pace down the alleyway, Shyki began to think of the quickest way out of town. If she ran out the gates, the guards would think her suspicious and chase her down. Sure she was fast and agile, but in the open plane, how far could she get without being caught? Even Shyki wasn't sure how much endurance the towns guards had. Yet if she took the chance to walk out, what if the hunter, or the other guards caught her before she even left the city. Shyki shook her head to clear the thoughts as she hurried down the streets once more, though this time it was a fast paced walk, rather than a run as to blend in better. The only thing that mattered was escaping and heading to another town. She refused to be sold as some slave.

The hunter abruptly stood up and brushed the dirt from his clothes. He then let out a sigh as he glanced at the damage done to his hand. "I've been through worse," he had responded to the guard with a heavy, yet clear toned voice. He could always track the girl down again just as easily as he had done so before; however, given the situation, he'd most likely have to explain what had occurred and why. Still, things would go by a lot quicker if he had the cooperation of the towns guards.

Lloyd had soon discovered that he had fallen behind the runaway girl when the next corner turned back into the crowded streets. Refusing to let the girl get away, he jumped and grabbed the roof's edge of a nearby building then hoisted himself up for a better view. When he surveyed the area, however, he could not find a single person running. "Where could you have.." Obviously the girl was smarter than he had originally thought and it also confirmed that she was running from him. If she had been running from the man in the alley than she would have kept running to put as much distance between them as she could. She wouldn't have a need to hide. Now the question was where was she hiding? Lloyd had followed her stops all the way to the crowd before they were no longer traceable. If that were the case then maybe she was still there. He had no other lead to follow. Putting his eyes back to the crowd, he resumed his struggle to locate the girl. Now think. What was she wearing? Something that would make he stand out... As far as he could remember, the woman didn't wear anything too unusual. She did wear a cap, however. That was the best he could do for now. It wasn't too difficult to separate those who wore hats and those who didn't, but that didn't make it easy to identify each hat and it's owner. He'd have to get a better look. He lowered himself down from the roof and headed into the crowd. As a guard, especially one with a long wielded weapon, people tend to move out of the way. This made his passage that much easier as he made his way through the streets unhindered. Surely, he would find this girl.

Shyki kept her eyes ahead. Her ears occasionally pricked at the sounds around her, giving her any warning of danger. She was nervous, no doubt, yet she saw the gates to the town just up ahead. Freedom! And all looked well. The crowd had started to diminish, so Shyki put a smile on her face to give her the impression of being as innocent as always. Look like you got business and people tend to leave you alone. Look like you're up to no good, and everyone and their brother starts asking questions and getting into your business. Shyki learned quickly that many people followed this rule. She'd make a run for it once she was out of town. Most likely the hunter would be on the move again soon. Why hadn't he listened to her? It's not like a thieves words were always lies. He just had to cause problems.

Shyki kept a good pace as she continued to watch the crowd disperse. Now that she was farther from the markets center, things had quieted down tremendously. The guards up ahead appeared to be as statues, unmoved and unsocial. It was a good start. She didn't want to have to find a new route or climb some wall to escape imprisonment. Just a little more. I'm sure I can make it.
