Help Build Wünschenhimmel!

The Locations below are there to give you something to work off of, but - as was said in the main thread - you're not restricted to just these places at all! If you want to throw in a mall, a roller-rink, or a library, do it! If you're using someplace new in your RPs, post it in the City Under Construction thread and it'll be added here!

*Note: Wünschenhimmel is served by an extensive rail system, which has its hub station a few blacks from Tetragram Square; said rail system runs 24/7, and can reach almost every major location in the city.

* Tetragram Square

The town square of the city, although it's really a circle. This is a park, with green trees and grass where a kid can fly a kite.
Many workers, from part-timers to office employees, eat their lunches here and give themselves a break from busy city life;
it also has a playground that's popular with young children and teenagers on dates alike.
When Sivan's in town, he sets up shop in the park with permission from the city.

- Aqualand
An underwater-themed playground for children, with all the usual stuff: Swings, jungle gyms, ect, all with a theme along the lines of The Little Mermaid. It also has a water area with sprays of water, ect. There's no entry fee, but donations are appreciated and security here is high. Highlights include the elaborate carousal of literal seahorses and others, and a fountain that sprays water in timed sequences at certain times each day.

- Happy Burger
A fast-food type place which is known for their huge servings; their child-size Cheerful Meals can usually fill the average adult, and their prices are cheap enough to make the place popular with the teen and pre-teen crowd. The place is family-owned by the MacCreadys, who keep the place running smoothly and often sponsor special events, like Easter Egg hunts and Halloween parties. Despite being fast-food, the meals are pretty healthy and taste great.

- Sweet Treats
A crepe and ice-cream stand, it's located near the main entrance to the Square, to the south. Sweet Treats is known for its delicious hand-make crepes - popular flavors including strawberries-and-cream, choco-love, and caramel turtle - and creamy hand-cranked ice-cream. They have three bicycle-powered carts that zoom around the park to increase customer purchases, and largely hire teenagers looking for part-time jobs.

* Business District

Roughly the north-western part of town, this is where the citizens of Wünschenhimmel go about making their livings. The district locates office-buildings and the like in the center, with storage facilities further out and manufacturing plants on the edge of the city-limits, to prevent disturbances with others. The Business District also has considerable security.

- VERTEX Inc.
The multi-faceted corporation owns and operates about half of the city; it's said that roughly half of the current Board Of Directors can trace their lineage back to the early days of the town. With their fingers in real-estate (local and abroad), the utilities companies, and Wünschenhimmel commerce, VERTEX is the company to find if you really do need to see a man about a boat. Or a house. Assuming you can get an appointment. Though preferential treatment is given to relatives of the company's high-ranked employees, only people of ability are allowed to stay on the company payroll; slackers or incompetents are fired promptly. On the plus side, VERTEX employees have great benefits, and hold four-times-a-year company team-building activities as well as the annual company picnic in Tetregram Square.

- Anderson & Sons
The law-firm of Wünschenhimmel, it specializes in corporate law; because of this, it works largely for VERTEX Inc., and some claim that the company has A&S Law in its pocket. In truth, Anderson and Sons does its best to remain objective, and also handles other types of law, such as family court. The name is somewhat misleading, as the current head of the firm is Marianne Anderson, and three of her children work for her: One son and two daughters. A&S is well-off but not particularly wealthy, largely because they take a lot of pro bono work when their schedules are free, and every employee is expected to share the founding family's belief in community service and the public welfare: Anderson & Sons sponsors several different benefit events throughout the year, and tickets to certain fundraisers are highly sought-after.

- Gabbiani
A high-class and notoriously expensive five-star restaurant, it serves Italian Fusion cuisine and caters to the business-people crowd who work in the district. Many people take clients or out-of-town partners to Gabbiani's, and its signature seagull can be found on everything from napkins to lighters and cigarette-cases, and is seen as a sign of status. Gabbiani requires, in all but a few cases, reservations at least six months in advance, but since they're often booked you're better off planning at least a year ahead. They do make exceptions for large parties and special occasions, and have been known to do catering for several well-to-do- regulars. The food is excellent, but you're largely paying for the atmosphere: with only the best in taste and quality, all glass and smoky woods, the interior of Gabbiani's makes one feel filthy rich and elegant to boot.

* Leisure District

Arcades, family restaurants, shopping complexes, and even a theme park in the south-western part of Wünschenhimmel.
This section of town is often busy when the Business District starts winding down,
and also houses the after-hours nightlife of the city.

- BIT* Arcade
A three-story electronic paradise; it's actually a two-story arcade, with the top floor being an actual gaming and electronics store. It started in Wünschenhimmel and does pretty decent business, but it's branched out and can now be found around the world. The owner is Alexander Hastings, who goes by the name DYNE, and he's some kind of prodigy who used to design components for mass-production computers before he devoted his talents to games. The first floor of the arcade is modern-day, cutting-edge games, including virtual reality; the second floor is more like a fairway, with classic arcade games alongside shooting-galleries, pinball, ect. The roof is a laser-tag arena, with paintball on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

- Mona's
A family-friendly restaurant, Mona is a one-story building with a bar in the back, for the adult patrons. The main restaurant is furnished in a 50s soda-shop style, with red-and-white checkered tiles and a jukebox; the menu is burgers, fries, fish and chips, and other diner standards. The food is great but a little on the pricier side, so you'll usually see families splurging; Mona's is named after the current owner's great-grandmother, and is known for its large ice-cream menu. The building is situated next to BIT*, and wait-staff traverse BIT* Arcade providing catering services to arcade patrons for drinks, finger-foods, ect.

- The Sultan's Palace Movie-House
An antique movie-house and historical landmark, the building is over a hundred years old and furnished in a rich, Arabian Nights-esque style. Renovated a decade ago to be a modern theater, it retains its luxury feel; although it's a little more expensive than theaters (with tickets usually about ten dollars even for matinee), the Palace is still popular for its ambiance and extensive snackbar; special night-time showings even serve full dinners at your seat! Sultan's Palace plays recently-released movies, but every Wednesday and Saturday are Classic Film Nights, and it often hosts art-house and amateur-film events.

- Flicker District
Actually a sub-area, most of the clubs and bars are crammed into this relatively-small area. Despite its size, it caters to a wide array of crowds, and most people take the rail in because parking is near impossible to find during peak hours. Popular spots include Discotheque <3, a retro 70s-era dance club; NAUGHT, a darkwave/goth club furnished in plenty of black; and MyZe, a popular bar with the biggest drinks-list in the city.

* Residential District

People live here, and... Well, that's pretty much it. It doesn't have the same kind of high police-presence that the Business District has,
though some places are better-policed than others; mostly, it's quieter than the other parts of town.
Thanks to luck and the WHPD, the level of crime in town is exceptionally low, so many people let their children play outside.

- Pace Residential Block
Actually a much larger section of the city than the name might imply, these are where your average person lives. Closer into the city are the apartment buildings, operated by assorted real estate companies; farther out are suburb-like communities, a brief drive away from the town. Where one lives depends on where you want to go; suburb-living is slightly more expensive than renting or even buying an apartment.

- Miria's Point
The name means nothing, as far as anyone knows; when this housing project was formed, the name was changed from Mire's Point to be more friendly-seeming. A low-income housing area, it's tucked neatly out of sight and fairly small, inhabited almost entirely by recent arrivals. Because most incoming citizens of Wünschenhimmel move out eventually, the population here is small and the rent is very low.

- Sunrise Apartments
Actually a converted luxury hotel, it was formerly part of the Culture District until the center moved a few decades ago. Since then the Sunrise Hotel was renovated into Sunrise Apartments, a luxury dwelling for those who can afford it. The building got its name from its height: As one of the two tallest things in Wünschenhimmel, almost every window has a stunning view of the dawning sun in the morning. The Apartments retains its well-designed lobby and ballroom, which is rented out and used for weddings and other events.

- Three Fords
Named for the three waterways that once flowed past the settlement, two of the three fords have since been dammed up and dried out to make way for more of these luxury houses. Located on and around the banks of what is now a broad, tranquil lake, Three Fords is THE place to build your one-of-a-kind dream-home. From spiraling Gothic towers to sprawling ranch-style houses, the wealthy take this opportunity to show off. Not many can afford this kind of housing racket, but the non-fabulously-wealthy often drive past and "Oooh!" and "Ahhhh!" at the extravagant homes.

* Culture District

Museums, art galleries, and opera houses are located here, along with boutiques and specialty-shops that cater to the discerning citizen.
You usually find tourists here too, since many locations are marked on guide-maps.

- Brendan Memorial Gallery of the Arts
The city's largest art gallery, spanning six wings and everything from prehistoric cave art to Pop Art classics. They're open on most days (excepting holidays) from 10AM to 8PM, but host special early-bird or late-night events every now and then. For members of at least a year, the Memorial Gallery holds special gala events such as the Masquerade and the Film Under The Stars.

- WISH Contemporary Arts
A 'modern' gallery of local and national artworks, it's more youth-oriented and cutting-edge than the dignified Brendan Memorial; staffed almost entirely by volunteers, it holds benefits and fundraises for local art initiatives and to support art in Wünschenhimmel's schools. WISH relies mostly on donations from the community and a few wealthy patrons, so they get creative with their fundraising. Every Friday, they hold the Nu-Vogue Art-N-Ect., where local artists display and sell their wares and swap their works for the works of others. Since one can usually find everything from silkscreened shirts of oil-paintings and pins in the shape of glass insects and wire vegetables, it's a popular time to go gift-hunting.

- Galleria Walk
A three-block expanse of boutiques and specialty-shops, from one-of-a-kind clothing stores to antique shops and make-your-own-aromatherapy-scents workshops. Notables include the Bella Nuit boutique, where the owner Cherise makes and designs the clothes herself; the Spare Scents perfume and scented candle shop, which also sells bath items and so on; the Caravan Chocolatiere and Patisserie; and the Beauty Under Glass, a store filled entirely with snowglobes, music-boxes, dancing figurines, and other similar keepsakes, all on the upper end of the price-scale. In the center of the walk is a large granite fountain with a coin balanced precariously on its edge as the centerpiece.

- Wünschenhimmel Theatre
Operas, orchestras, drama troupes both foreign and local, traveling acrobats-- All have, at one time or another, played at the Wünschenhimmel Theatre, more commonly known as the WT. During the day the shows are more casual, although a certain dress-code is still appreciated, but evening shows are almost always a strict formal-only policy.
