Her paws had worked endlessly on the soil, kneading it and patting it but all to no avail. The season had come, the damage was done, and for now the girl simply had to leave the destruction behind her. It was where home was, so at the end of the day poor Blackbean would be crawling past the frigid soil with more than likely a frown on her face, but that was later.

This was now.

Having left the open pasture where she lived, Blackbean entered into the forests of exceedingly tall trees and headed toward any old wall, be it mountain or otherwise, crossing fallen logs and stumps along the way. She simply had to walk if she ever wanted to let off the steam, and if it meant hours of alone time...so be it! That would be no change from the normal anyways. The mistling did not expect much from today, even daring to scramble over a particularly large stump and risking a bump or scratch as proof. Coming to a gently flowing stream, Blackbean's firm jaw loosened in some delight. Branched off from the main river in Midland, she was pleased to see that the waters were not yet frozen over; this meant it was not yet cold enough, and thus not yet real winter.

Her crops wouldn't have a chance of surviving regardless, but the lesser number of days for the cold season the better. Trotting to, Blackbean dipped her head and lapped at the freezing stream, nose wrinkling but her thirst voiding all discomfort.

Sarabi isolated herself more often then not for fear of a great many things; dangers beyond her little burrow in the ground were too immeasurable to be taken. But on ocassion, the fawn-colored Mistling did retreat from her dwelling for things of necessity: food, water, maybe even scraps of cloth to decorate her home with. Today was such an ocassion. Though the weather had grown cold, Sarabi didn't mind it so much. Winter was practically in full swing and though crops would wither and food would be scarce for a while, it was merely a turning of the seasons, a mark of change in Time as it trotted endlessly onward.

Her feet, like time, trotted in a seemingly endless march onward. Her nose twitched as she looked around, eyes narrowed. Sarabi was a suspicious Mistling; she trusted very few others and was even wary of them, at first. It was a lonely way to live, certainly, but it was also safe and safety was something Sarabi cherished far more then simple 'friendship'.

She found herself along a stream branching off of the main river, and paused at it, tilting her head. The stream was not yet frozen; true Winter did not grasp this one solitary vein of water. She smiled quietly to herself, ears perking, and began following the stream downward. It wasn't long before she saw Blackbean, and the sight of the unknown mistling startled her. With a rather loud squeak, she ducked behind the trunk of a nearby mushroom, ears flat against her head. Was she friend or foe? Warily, Sarabi peeked her head around to eye the Mistling from a distance, frowning. She seemed harmless, but...

Was it worth risking?

Hmm.

It seemed that for some time after her drink, Blackbean fell into a quiet trance, swaying ever so slightly to the ringing in her ears and lost in a world much warmer than this. Deaf to nature, she missed the rustle of footsteps in their approach, only responding to the squeak that came abruptly. Becoming aware immediately, the mistlings eyes wandered in Sarabi's direction, seeking out movement of any kind within the bush. What fine mist dwelled in the Hallow was eagerly sifted through with hot breaths and a shaky stare, the girl fixed on settling what could have disrupted her drink. "Hello?" She thrummed, lifting on to her toes as a creamy coat popped into her sights.

"Come over here!" she called again, biting down on her lower lip anxiously. "Don't sneak up on me! It is rude!"

Sarabi jerked back when the Mistling called her, and flinched, ducking behind the trunk. But... she'd called her rude. That wasn't nice! She scowled a little, peering out at her with narrowed orange eyes. "I wasn't sneaking up on you!" She said finally from behind the trunk, stepping out cautiously from behind the mushroom. She didn't venture closer; she wasn't that brave. Instead, from a distance and using the mist around them as a sort of veil, however thin it might be, Sarabi watched her intently. Who was the stranger, anyway?

"What's your name?" She blurted out before she could stop herself. Her ears flattened a little sheepishly at the rude gesture, but she didn't apologize.

"What would you call it then?" The dark mistling retorted brashly, drawing her chest forward while tucking her chin in. As the opposite female made herself known, Blackbean grinned from ear to ear with a dash of excitement.

"You tell me yours first!" Demanding such with eyes squinted to search the fog. That cream head was more apparent as it attached itself to a larger and creamier frame. Advancing just a few feet, Blackbean scrunched her nose and took in one long breath.

This wasn't the girls fault. Blackbean had no right punishing strangers with her own aggrivation and distress! Realizing her mistake, the mistling poked her lower lip out and whispered, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be so...hateful. I'm just having a bad day I guess...My name is Blackbean, and I promise I'm not looking for a fight. Winter gets me all...riled up. I can't control some of the things I say!" Nervously, the female rolled back on her haunches and settled by the river. Patiently, she would wait for a response.

"Not sneaking," replied the tawny mistling with a slight edge to her voice. Who was this female, to go accusing Sarabi of this and that? She hadn't expected to run into anyone, of course, or she wouldn't have ventured so far from home. "I was looking for food." She added after a brief hesitation, wondering if explaining herself was really necessary. She was allowed to do as she pleased, she was a free Mistling. But there was no need to be purposely closed off, and Sarabi chided herself for letting her temper deter her from being polite. She didn't know this strange creature, where she came from or why she was so brash. She had no reason for niceties but neither did she have reasons for hostility. Neutrality, here, would be the best action of course.

Straightening a little and eying the mistling, even as she demanded Sarabi to give up her own name, she tried to give off a neutral air. A gift from her parents, certainly; she was capable of leading, if she wasn't so damned interested in keeping herself safe and sound instead of taking risks or speaking up. Before she could respond, as she surely would have to in order to get this Mistling to answer... The girl was apologizing!

A small smile pulled at her mouth. "It's okay." She promised, treading closer tentatively. She was not entirely at ease with the girl, Blackbean, but she saw no reason to be so cautious. "Winter is a...hard time for everyone." She said idly, stopping after a few steps. "Likewise, I didn't mean to be so...demanding. Or suspicious." Her ears flattened a little. "I've found that remaining hidden is best when venturing beyond the burrow. My name is Sarabi," she smiled quietly, "and it is nice to meet you, Blackbean."

"Same to you...Sarabi." She sounded unsure of herself, nibbling at her lower lip in wait. When nothing was said regarding her pronunciation, the dark mistling turned to the water while the cream female approached.

Times were always harder during the winter for everyone, Blackbean was not denying this fact; she just felt as if it were worse for her, due to the whole cultivating nonsense. Another slurp and she was finished with the river, tilting her fluff covered head toward Sarabi with a content smile in place. Things would get awkward fast for the two, so she gathered up her Mistling conversational skills and dove into a topic she felt most comfortable with. "So you were looking for food; Well, what kind of food if you don't mind me asking?" Taking a few steps forward herself, Blackbean had already begun to rise and lean back on her hind legs to play idly with the back around her neck.

"I am really good at finding seeds, acorns, nuts, roots and plants. Really! I am also really good at planting them! I am the best! Just ask me about anything and I can tell you the answer." Bright eyes bulged, beckoning the soft spoken Sarabi to take the bait and listen to all her facts and figures.
