First off, I'm sorry about my long abscence, for all of you who don't know me, I'm Felix, or Reid. (enough of you know my real name that it doesn't matter.) I've been more busy then you can imagine, but Jenny may be able to fill you in a bit on that.
Google is a giant search engine, duh. Besides that blatently obvious fact google does quite a bit. When google started as a company, they vowed to 'orginize the the world's information'. That's huge. The scary thing is they've been making serious progress. Google earth is alive and well, allowing you to view any area in the world via archived sattelites. Google library, while fighting for the right to exist has classified around several million books *estimate posted on slashdot.org*. But the hugest thing they do impacts our own usage of the internet. That part is invisible to the average joe. Google has an index of every pathway in the internet, all streams that traffic can take. By this list they reorginized how information was transmitted, or more accurately where. Users across the world noticed a 2ms jump. While minor it definitly shows the potential google has.
But enough about that, google has some really cool applications for it's users. www.google.com/ig is a personalized desktop with live streams for news around the world. It also let's you view your mail, local weather, and have your own custom links right on the page. It really boosts my own productivity by cutting down on useless browsing around random pages, and orginizing it into topics i'd like to see.
So if you're not a google member, what're you waiting for, through a little trick me and my friends found, I have limitless googlemail invites, allowing you access to the neat stuff that's there.
