Whilst roaming the savannah, a lone and depressed hyena stumbled upon a pair of dogs -- a mother-daughter pair. Tired and weary from his journey, he stayed with them, resting and healing his body. He felt at home with them, having fallen in love with a dog many moons before.
The now rested hyena, about to leave, stopped at the edge of the dogs' den, a new idea forming in his head. A deep desire that had been long submerged came to the surface -- a coalition pack. He had always wanted one, and felt that the time to act was then. Instead of leaving, he turned to the dogs, this time with a proposition. The three of them, together, would form a pack; a pack filled with diversity, although mainly devoted to the new bond between kanine species. They would be devoted to the idea of everlasting peace and simplicity.
Now, after roaming the savannah to find others who supported their cause, Xx'ami-da and the two females reunited. They had gathered many others; others that were willing to help them lead the pack forward. Xx'ami-da was naturally offered the head position, which he accepted humbly. The only discrepency that was left was the issue of having a just pack-- headed by two. Although the two weren't mates, and even though she was a bit young, Uzuri stepped forward to lead the pack with Xx'ami-da.
. Why the Pack Was Formed //_____________
The pack was formed due to an insecurity on both of the leaders parts - they are the founder. They both went through a time of hardship, and wished for a time of peace. They stayed together for a whild, as you have read, and thought of the rank names, and purposes within the pride. Colaborating and brainstorming, before collecting their members. They wish to collect more.
Seaki and Polette based this pack slightly off of old Native American tribes with a swirl of toleration. The Clans and such come from this and such. If you were interested in the RPs, you may post in the thread or PM Seaki, Polette, or Amani Kikundi.

. Mkuu | 1/1 | Chief ♂. The male leader of the pack - he makes most of the important decisions with his Sheikh (see below). He and the Sheikh are not mates, and he is usually a Hyena. There will always be one Hyena and one Wild Dog in the Rank of Sheikh or Mkuu. The Mkuu watches all of the runnings, though he usually does not get involved in internal conflict unless it gets serious. He must have good leadership skills and a friendly personality, but at the same time, not afraid to enforce the peace.
. Sheikh | 1/1 | Chief ♀. The female leader of the pack - she helps with desicion making, but is normally the one that goes to solve the social issues of the pack. She is usually a dog, but if she is hyena, a dog will take the place of the Mkuu. She is the top informant of most of the problems to the Mkuu and generally watches over the council (though, the Mkuu will keep tabs on the council as well.).
. Mrithi('k**e) | 0/2 | Heir(ess). This is the Mkuu's or Sheikh's heir. As there is no royal blood among the pack, these are usually chosen from the clan for their traits as a leader. They are chosen by the Mkuu/Sheikh directly and are trained to become the next leader of the pack. Generally, they are trained to not have a religion, but sometimes the parents of the Mri will insill religion into them and keep them within their own clan. The Mkuu and Sheikh will, if chosen, may raise the pup as their own.
. Diwani | 1/'3' | Council. Diwani come from the different clans, and then the general (clanless) - they represent the needs and want of their clans and normally meet once a month. They discuss problems, shortages, and other things within their particular clan. The number of council members may change when new clans emerge. Their job is to know problems and how to fix them, though some things they need to run by the Mkuu or Sheikh. If need be, the council may veto the decision of the Leaders, though it is rare. [Number allowed is liable to change.]
. Kiongozi | 2/'2' | Clan Head ♂. He is the male clan head, normally the male that starts the family, or the oldest male. He will pass his title down to either his son, or his daughters mate. He makes sure the running of his family is smooth. This rank is much like the Family Head of old noble families. He may run the family alone, as well as with a Rubani. [Number allowed is liable to change.]
. Rubani | 2/'2' | Clan Head ♀. She is the female counterpart to the Kiongozi. Normally coming into this rank as the mate of the Kiongozi, she must watch over her family carefully. The female may head the clan alone or with the Kiongozi. [Number allowed is liable to change.]
. Paroko | 0/Unlim. | Shaman. A Paroko is one of the more, usually, eccentric, characters within the pack. They deal with the spirits, and act as preists within the clans. Some are seers, but they don't have to be. Those that aren't seers can act as advisors or healers. In any case, they are ment to protect, inform, and heal in their own ways that are not physical. Paroko usually have a way with words.
. Mlinzi | 1(?)/7 | Guardian. The gaurdians are there to watch for intruders. They inform the Mkuu or Sheikh of an unknown presence outside the pride borders. They generally have a knowledge of all of the pack members and what they look like. They are very important to bring in memebers and to keep harmful creatures outside the borders. They are highly looked upon for their bravery.
. Mwindaji | 2/Unlim | Hunter. Mwindaji hunt for the entire pack, though occasionally only for themselves. They keep the pack running with the food they provide for it.
. Mlezi | 1/-- | Nanny. The Mlezi take care of the youth of the pack. They make it their job to raise them right and are unbiased. They must love children, however, because abuse towards a child is highly looked down upon and the first to be abusive will be cast from the pack. They are generally counted as teachers as well, and normally they have more worldly knowledge to help the pups grow with stories and lessons.
. Ujana | 4/Unlim | Youth. These are the youth of the pack, a default rank for anyone of pup or juve status. They must choose a job at Adol stage. Most show signs of their role early in life.

. Beliefs //_____________
. Religion. There is no solid worship of a god in the pack. Each clan may have a different belief, but each clan forms the whole pack. There is tolerance in believing if different Gods or Goddesses, and no one is viewed less if they don't believe in the same God(dess). Pups usually grow up believing in the clan's God/dess if they wish, or not at all, if that is the preferance of the OCC owner of the pup wishes so. The Pup may change clans if they wish when they are Adols or if the parents decide to let the pup be fostered in the other clan.
. Species. All species are tolerated, though personal dislike for a certain species may arise. Other species may join or take refuge in the pack for an extended period of time, though it is rare. Dogs (WD) and Hyena are the main species, though there will probably be more WD at all times, since Hyena don't have many pups (and there aren't many in SoA period).
. Familiars. Familiars are welcomed here, as long as they are known. The entire pack must know about a familiar if they are to remain safe. They are known as Assistants mostly, as they will help with that particular job.
. Rogues. Rogues are welcomed into the pack. If they seek brief safety or a place to stay for awhile, they must introduce themselves to either the Sheikh or the Mkuu, so their presence is known. If the rogue happens to be a feline, they will be kept under careful watch for the duration of their stay, but are otherwise welcomed. They do not reject anyone unless they become violent towards any membors.
. Flings Flings are treated the same as when a female breeds with her mate. The pups are celebrated, though the mother may receive extra help from the nannies in the care of her pups.
. Mates Mates are not entirely binding relationships. One may change their mate as they please, though it is encouraged to stay with one mate as long as possible. Same-gender pairings and different-species pairings are both accepted in this pack as well. This pack is about toleration, but religion or love will mostly keep a pair (,trio, etc.) together.
. Celebration //_____________
. Celebration of Life. This is a short ceremonie when new Ujana are born into the pack, they are highly celebrated, no matter the means (fling, mate, surogate, etc.) The point is, pups are loved, and ensure the continuation of the pride.
. New Year Celebration Since SoA have no calender, the year starts at the start of spring. It's counted as a time of new life and fertility, and the pack will celebrate near the lakes or the river that gives them life.

Any age of wild dog or hyena can join. There are nannies for the young, and older dogs can enter society right away.

Mostly any personality is good, although, if you have a personality that would fit perfectly in a pride like the Demon Pride, you may want to not join this pack. ^^;
.:What's This Pack Like?:.
The Amani is basically a large collection of wild dogs and hyenas, with the occasional familiar or other species. There aren't any real traditions, ceremonies, or strict laws that members must abide by, except for being a decent and kind animal. So if you want your dog in a pack, but don't want to conform to something, this is the perfect pack for you! 8D
.:What Ranks Are Available?:.
Pretty much all ranks are open right now, except the ones on the list that are, obviously, totally filled. We are also looking at those who wish for their canine to be an heir, just know that there is an evaluation and some plotting that goes along with it, so they can't just want the rank and get it. The other ranks, however, don't have this process, unless we see someone who really really doesn't fit with the rank. :3
