THE ABBERTON MANSION

Immersed in the quiet country-side of Victorian England, 1848, lies the famous - perhaps infamous - Abberton Mansion. The Abberton Family is indeed a wealthy one, but closed off from the rest of the world. Rumors of the strange people they invite often entertain the small, poor town of Brookwell, only a few miles away.

What Brookwell doesn't know is that the Abbertons are one of the most powerful vampire families in Western Europe. And their lineage is dying. With only the last three sibblings left - two twin brothers and their younger sister - they have been forced to bring in other vampires into their home, with the intent of finding suitable wives and husband.

However, not everything falls so easily into place. The Abberton Mansion is now occupied with more vampires than could ever be needed - all seeking refuge from the mortal world, and from a mysterious murderer who seems to be killing off vampires, clan by clan. The Abbertons were the last to go. Lord and Lady Abberton were found brutally slaughtered in their garden only six months ago, and the Abberton sibblings lived in horror as their uncles, aunts, and cousins were killed off steadily, with no trace of the murderer(s) in sight. They were forced to flee to their summer home in the countryside, where they now reside. Many powerful vampires (also the last of their lineage) live in the Abberton residence, but also common vampires escaping the town of Brookwell.

The mansion has been quiet for two months, with no signs of unsuspecting murder. The vampires leave to feed from the mortals in Brookwell, carefully choosing the very elderly to kill off, to not draw attention to themselves. But the townsfolk have their suspicions. With that, the lack of activity from the mysterious murderer - when will he strike again? - and the conflicts from the residents, the Abberton Mansion has become a place of controlled chaos and tension.

HISTORY OF VAMPIRES
(according to this roleplay)

Vampires have existed before humans did. Humans were a result of vampire offspring who lacked the vampire gene - the gene that allowed and required the creature to need blood. Eventually, humans bred rapidly to the point where they had become a separate species. In current day, (1848 that is,) humans had out-numbered vampires tremendously. Vampires were not commonly considered legend at this time, but it was very rare a human would ever see a vampire. And live, that is.

Vampires in current day fed off of humans, cows, sheep, and other livestock. Humans had evolved into such different species that vampires could hunt humans safely. Hunting another vampire was extremely unhealthy, and if practiced frequently, could result in death.

However, if a vampire bit a human and left him/her alive, there is a 1 in 3 chance that the human will contract the "vampire virus" from the vampire's saliva and be Turned into a vampire. Vampires are very careful not to leave humans alive for that very reason. (Turned vampires are looked down upon as "dirtying up the bloodline", although almost all vampires aside from the major clans had some Turned blood in them.) Vampires and humans can't be told apart, except for the fangs which extend when adrenaline kicks in.

The Abberton family was one of the eleven most powerful (and pure-blooded) vampire clans in the world. However, thanks to this strange murderer, the number has been reduced to eight, with three families (including the Abbertons) on the bridge of extinction. The mass murders are suspected to be done by a large group of vampires (although some haven't ruled out the possibility of the group being human), but no information has become availible. The Abberton sibblings aren't certain that they don't have a traitor in the midst, since things have been so quiet...

RULES

1.) No godmodding, but I think we all know that.
2.) Use literate, third-person speak. None of this: *action* or this: -another action- or this: "lol i liek spkng liek i have no brain lolzzzzzz!!!!!"
3.) Write OOC comments ((like this)).
4.) Romance is encouraged, as is violence, but no cybering or excessive gore.
5.) PM me your profiles, wait for me to accept you, and THEN roleplay.
6.) Keep in the time period. No cell phones, etc.
7.) No hybrid half-human half-vampire thing. If you read the history, you'll realize that there's no possible way that could happen in this world.
8.) Vampires do not have any sort of magical powers. Please do not create them!
9.) Title profiles "Abberton Mansion"
10.) No killing a character without their permission. Also obvious.
11.) Follow all rules of Gaia and this Guild.
12.) No other breeds other than vampires and humans allowed. (No werewolves, faeries, etc.)
13.) Always feel free to lead the story into a new place! That's what makes it fun! If it is really major, and you are nervous about it, feel free to PM me.
14.) You must be active, making a post at least every few days. If after a week you have not posted, I will send you a warning PM, giving you three days to respond. if you do not, I will remove you. Please PM or notify me in some way if you are going to be unavailible for a while.
15.) What I say goes for this roleplay. I have the right to change these rules at any time. Follow the rules and we will get along well!

Bio / Personality: The result of an affair between the late Lord Abberton and a woman from a whorehouse in Brookwell. On his fifteenth birthday, his mother blackmailed Raiden's way into the mansion, where he rose, now on his own merit, to become captain of the guard, though, because of the rapidly shrinking staff, he often has to act as a butler. He is highly loyal to the Abbertons, because of his relation, but they are unaware of their father's... indescretions.

Despite the experience, she is the playfull type. However, if you get on her bad side she will get revenge in the most inconvenient way possible.

Bio / Personality: He's very observent and well mannerd at times. He won't do anything though unless he sees some form of personal gain in it, and with that said at times he is more stubborn then a buffalo. He also consider's him self an excellent detective, and as such pays close attention to details. He also spends the majority of his time reading and writing poems. He was born a vampire though his mother wasn't. She was turned into one by his father's brother in an attempt to get rid of her, on finding out about their romance. Unfortunetly his father prevented her killing and she was turned. He was the offspring of their odd little love.
PS:My dear watson, the butler didn't kill the master. No. It was the pie who stabbed him in his sleep.

Bio / Personality:Nathan was born and raised in the backstreets of London. He was orphaned and left on the steps of a work house, he spent the first years of his life there being beat, starved, and mistreated. At his first chance as a young lad he broke out, fleeing to survive on his own on the streets. At first he was just a harmless little ally rat, a thieve, a pickpocket.. running and hiding from his troubles, stealing to eat. But you can only run for so long, and Nathan found himself cornered in backstreets with only the option to fight to survive.. and so he did that. He built his body to take on whatever opposed him. To keep his own in a fight against a gang of thugs or a small group of sailors. He learned to fight smart and to use his environment and his abilities to the fullest to keep himself alive. But one night he couldn't out run what was after him.. and though he survived, he wasn't left unchanged. He became a vampire.

Bio / Personality: The younger one of the Abberton twins who, suprisingly, look nothing alike. For one, Charron is shorter than Styxx, he also has darker hair and very differently colored eyes. Their personalities couldn't be much different either. Charron is what you would call the darker or 'evil' twin, preferring to fight using his quick wit and sharp tongue over fists. He's sly, devious, and more than willing to twist a few arms to get what he wants. Despite his less-than-desirable attitude, he's loyal to his brother and his family. Oddly enough, he has an interesting fondness for pretty women and is quite the flirt. Usually fawning over a new girl every week, sometimes every other day.
