Alice Deejay....

"Better off alone," right?

You see...with Trance on its own (and with every sub genre of EDM) there are even more sub genres.

So the various forms of trance are (all mat not be listed):

Acid[/ur] (a decent sample), Banging (notice the heavy 4/4 bass?), Classic (old skool s**t ^^. Usually a hit and becomes "classic" with a few years.), Club Trance (most common type of trance. Most often heard, usually on the radio and stuff), Cyber (if this isn't starting to belnd together, then you are doing alright. ^^ Anywways...Cyber is the standard 808 synth line stuff with your sci-fi quotes dispearsed here and there), Dark (Well, the name really explains this....more dark stuff, to give a sense of forboding. Can get REALLY creppy even almost demonic eek ), Deep (closely related to Driving an Epic Trance. Its the stuff taht makes you loose it 9 times out of 10 [if the DJ uses it correctly...]), Etheral (also know as Vocal Trance. Very melodic stuff.)

Those are jsut a few...there's more, but the sub generes of the subgenres are mostly for DJs anyways...

As for your question: Alice Deejay's stuff usually falls withing the Progressive/Club type of stuff, and at some times could be considered vocal.

*takes a breath*

That post took a while.

Edit: Stupid url links not doing their job...

Cool... I knew there was subgenre's, but defnitely not the characteristics of each, so thanks for that.

I can't really say that I DON'T like a genre of Trance... cuz whenever I hear a type, I usually end up lovn it.

But then, what would you consider Robert Miles? or Paul Oakenfold? Cuz I love their musc, but defintiely don't know the genre, and Trance in't sound right to me (instantly receives images of Asian E-tard's sex music) lol.

For Oakenfold, its kind of hard to say...because he dabble's alot with his music. SO he can range from hip-hop, to progressive house, to progressive trance, to etheral trance, to pop. Oakenfold was good untill he hit his "pop star" phase...but his creamfields record is pretty good (mix record)

Miles...hmm...I think I have heard of the name before...what songs has he done?

He did Children, which is definitely trance. Epic. Soft, mesmerizing stuff. Very pretty.

I might be a ******** hardcore punker... but I love rave and techno. I actually do rave with glowsticks and I'm trying to learn with the string.

I don't really know any names.. but one person I do enjoy... is Josh Wink. "High State of Unconsciousness" is ******** amazing.

He absolutely hates it, and Robert Miles.

'Tis called glowsticking deary.

Anyways... Trance is one of those genres that you might like when alone but when confronted by a DJ that tends to overshadow the music *CoughTiestoCough* You get a bit jaded...

That and the other Trance DJ's on the Mixmag top 100(Except for ATB and Carl Cox... ATB kicks a** and Carl Cox would kick my a**.)

Regardless... Trance as a whole has slipped away from being the rather dark hypnotic roots it sprang from. Except for Psytrance and Goa. That s**t kills people due to the amount of awesome emmited from it.

But seriously... When a DJ such as Tiesto makes a show, you end up with an ego driven record player that is overpayed for such sloppy DJing, He is a decent producer i'll give him that, but he is a horible DJ.

Stick to your roots =D

funny.. I get to see buuren spin tomorrow night, and will likely ignore him in favor of some of the locals spinning at wonderland 3nodding . though whose to say I won't wander through his set unknowingly...

and damn linen and his getting me hooked on psy....

anyone and everyone try some of the easy to find stuff, dark soho, or infected mushroom, or X dream... it's addictive
