Another night, another bar. It was just an endless procession of them now, for however many months it had been-he’d lost count. He really didn’t want to remember it down to the exact day, for just when his life had been ripped to pieces. It was better to try and forget something like that-not that he’d ever actually forget that night. There was no way he could forget that.
He sure as hell was trying though.
The redhead slammed his empty glass down on the bar counter-nearly feeling the fragile thing crack under the force-and raked a hand back through his spiked locks. He ignored the looks he got for his actions, refusing to even glance at anyone else in the bar, and rose to his feet. He hadn’t really needed the drinks-the vampire blood he’d had earlier had sated his hunger, the alcohol was just to dull his pain, both physical and emotional. It was doing nothing for his throbbing headache though, unfortunately, but that was to be expected after all, wasn’t it?
Throwing down the proper amount of money to pay for his drinks, the crusnik sauntered across the distance from the bar to the double doors, jamming his hands in the pockets of his plain blue jeans. Shouldering the door open, he emerged out into the night, looking up to the sky briefly to see whether it was clouded or clear. When he saw the clear sky, the bright pinpoints of light in its depth visible, he scowled, his mood growing darker than it was already. He hated the stars, despised them. Just the mere sight of them caused a sick feeling in the pit of his stomach, and an ache in his chest.
Ducking his head, he turned his aqua-green eyes down to the ground, tracing cracks in the pavement as he walked. He’d left his motorcycle at home this evening, which was probably for the best anyway considering that he wasn’t entirely sober right now. Not that he was drunk, but it probably wouldn’t have been a good idea for him to be driving. Heaving a sigh, he glanced up a bit as he realized that he was getting close to home.
Home. And what was he supposed to do now? Not like he had any hobbies. Or had anyone to spend time with. He had nothing, and no one-just his nightly killing, and an empty penthouse to return to. Maybe he’d just go to sleep, he thought as he crossed the street. Yeah, that sounded good.

A quick good-bye kiss. A big, slightly pained smile. The scars of Riku's death still run deep. But his aren't nearly the worst wounds. No, there's another. That's why he'd left, promising to be back, at the latest, the next night. He'd surprise Axel, show up in the middle of the night and then it's likely the predator would have already eaten. There'd be no worries.
And that's why the brunette is wandering the streets--well, not wandering, but, well, more absent-mindedly walking to the apartment complex. It's a long walk, and he finds himself staring at the sky, dotted with pinpricks of light. Sky and stars... Sadness drowns his eyes, and he sighs, head hanging lightly as his hands are shoved in his pockets. Tonight's beautiful, but it's just like the night he'd found out about--
Riku would always laugh and say how Sora happened to be a fitting name for the brunette. The sky, wearing its heart on its sleeve, but always there and always something someone could trust in. Sora's sky had darkened a bit when he'd been murdered, and he'd never been a sunny day since then. Partly cloudy, perhaps, but the sun had never peeked out from behind the clouds...
It's because of this that the petite male suddenly has the wind knocked out of him before he falls back on his rear, wincing as it hits the hard ground. When he glances up, he blinks, then grins sheepishly.
"O-Oh, hey... Sorry... I was... Just coming to see you. Guess I should pay attention to where I'm going..." he says, pulling himself up and offering his half-smile--eyes still reflecting his sadness.

He stepped back onto the sidewalk after finishing crossing the street, still looking down at the pavement. Home. The place that held too many memories and yet not enough. Memories of a true love found and lost far before it was supposed to end. They were supposed to have grown old together-at least, that’s what Axel had always secretly imagined, though never mentioned to Riku because he hadn’t wanted to sound overly sentimental.
Maybe he should have said some of those things though, just so they’d been there. Because now he’d never have a chance to tell Riku-and no matter how many mornings and evenings the redhead spent at his grave, no matter how many truthful words he spoke. It just wasn’t the same. It would never be the same. Nothing would lessen his ache or heal his wounds.
His musings were abruptly brought to an end though when someone ran into him. Though he heard and saw them fall to the ground, he barely even stumbled a bit. Only raising his head at the sound of their voice, he realized that is was Sora. He blinked once. Twice. Sora. Well, wasn’t this a pleasant surprise?
“Hey, no problem,” he said, shaking his head a bit. He didn’t even try to smile in response-he didn’t feel like smiling. He never did any more. “I wasn’t paying attention either. So. Coming to see me?” he arched a brow as he posed the question.

Sora's smile quickly fades, and he looks down. He's ashamed to admit her's worried, but, well... He's honest. It's a trait that Riku and Demyx admire--when Riku had been alive, that is. So, with a sigh, he nods.
"Yeah. I'm worried. But, that's what friends are for, right...?" he asks quietly. He looks up, innocent blue eyes shimmering in the darkness. His worry is reflected in his eyes, over how Axel'd pretty much shut down. He must be hurting so much, and even if Sora can't get him to open up, well, at least he's there for Axel, right?

He tilted his head a bit at Sora’s words, then looked back down to the ground for a moment, rocking back on his heels. “You don’t need to worry about me, kid. I’m alright,” he said, looking up again.
Yeah, concern was nice, just what he needed. Actually, all sarcasm aside, it was what he needed. He’d been looking forward to a chance like this for months, and now it’d been nicely delivered to him, just like that. Except standing out here on the street wasn’t part of his grand scheme. In fact, it didn’t fit in at all. Nothing would be accomplished out here. But that would be easy to change-he was Axel after all. And he always got what he wanted.
“Hey,” he said, freeing a hand from his pocket to run his fingers through his hair, “How ‘bout we go inside, up to my place? Better than standing out on the street, don’t you think?”

Sora looks up and nods, suddenly realizing just how cold it is. Yeah, the warm apartment sounds like a better place to chit-chat, even if it wasn't about anything at all and happened to be them just avoiding any subjects that might lead into depressing territory.
"Yeah, that sounds really good. Didn't even realize how cold it is." he says quietly, gesturing for Axel to lead the way. After all, the door's likely locked, and Sora doesn't have the key. Either way, it probably looks better to other tenants--especially those who gossip and tease--if Sora follows instead of leads. Don't want rumors to circulate about 'Axel's New Boyfriend' if anyone sees, after all.

This was going to be exactly as easy as he’d anticipated, so long as he played his cards right. And really, there wasn’t any way he could mess up this moment; once he had Sora in his apartment, everything was set. True that he’d still have some things to deal with, but he’d planned ahead for them, and would be ready when the times came. If the times came.
“Come on,” he said, nodding his head towards the doors. Turning, he made his way into the somewhat-fancy apartment building, fishing his keys out of one pocket as he walked across the lobby. The elevator required a special key to reach the penthouse, since it was on the top floor, and the only living space up there. There was no need for an outer hallway, so the elevator would open up right into the entryway of the apartment.
Sliding the key into the lock and twisting it, he glanced back over one shoulder to make sure the kid was still with him. Not that it doubted it or anything, but he had a lot resting on the next few minutes. Even though once they were both inside the elevator-the doors of which were sliding open now-he had pretty much ‘won’.

The brunette suspects nothing. Nothing at all as he quietly follows Axel. It's a trap he doesn't realize, and Sora's the fly happily walking into the spider's web.
But Sora doesn't know this, nor does he sense that Axel's plotting something. No, he's just happy that Axel's willing to talk. He's remaining silent, only his and Axel's footsteps seeming to break the silence. Even as the doors close, he suspects nothing, just smiling his sad little smile while giving a thankful expression to the red-head.
"Thanks, Axel. For inviting me up." he quickly pipes up while he thinks about it. Completely unaware that he won't be thanking Axel any time soon in a little while.

 The redhead glanced over to Sora as the elevator made its ascent to the top floor, rocking back and forth idly on his heels a bit as he waited. No, really, the pleasure’s all mine. You won’t be thanking me once we get there, you’ll probably be cursing me. You’ll kick and scream and beg, but it won’t do any good. Nothing will do any good. He kept his thoughts to himself though, and what Axel ended up saying aloud was;
“Yeah, sure. It’s no problem, kid. I don’t mind the company.”
No, I don’t mind it at all. You’ll be like a guest, a permanent guest. I’ll never have to return to an empty apartment ever again, so long as I keep you stashed away and alive. If only Sora could see the thoughts running through Axel’s head, he would know just how unstable-how utterly insane-the redhead was. But he couldn’t, so he remained blissfully unaware of how dangerous his ‘friend’ was.
The doors on the elevator slid open now, and Axel set about unlocking the double set of security gates, as well as the solid made door he’d managed to install on the inside of the apartment-an added precaution, more defense considering his line of work. Wordlessly, he stepped from the elevator car, waiting for Sora to do the same so that he could lock up again-simply habit, and if Sora found anything strange in it, Axel would simply explain. The reason he would give was harmless enough, after all.

Sora does note the extra security, even as he steps out into the actual penthouse. But he chalks it all up to his former nature as a vampire hunter. So, really, he doesn't see his wings become ensnared by a spider's threads. Instead, he just seeks out a seat, where he silently sits down, resting his hands on his knees.
"Nice place." he says idly, trying to think of anything not directly linked to Riku. Trying to rebreak the ice, so to speak, which he feels will be much harder than one would think, even for him. Still, he has to try, and he has to say something.

Axel watched the brunette closely out of the corner of his eye while he finished locking the gates-and the door-again before pocketing his keys. “Thanks,” he replied, stretching his arms over his head. Beginning to move down the hall, he shrugged out of his black leather jacket, gesturing for Sora to follow him.
“Come on,” the redhead said, entering the spacious living room now, where the French doors to the large balcony were opposite the doorway. Carelessly tossing down his jacket, he dropped unceremoniously down onto the long black couch, propping his head up on one hand. “It’s more comfortable in here. So. Why’d you pick the middle of the night to just drop by?”

Sora gladly follows Axel, plopping down in his own seat. When Axel asks the question, though, he only smiles sheepishly as he turns his answer over in his head. Really, he's not truly sure. So, he just shrugs, then looks to Axel.
"Figured you'd like some company over after your meal. Seems I had great timing." he says with a good nod. Honest, as always, but leaving out about how he wanted to wait for Axel to eat for the night before he came over because then he'd not have to worry about his own neck. He'd never been sure about the crusnik's self-control, after all.

He nodded a bit, stretching out a bit more on the couch. “Really good timing. I might not have been home for a while yet-stopped off for a drink, of the alcoholic kind-but things worked out, it seems,” he said with as much of a nod as he could manage at the moment.
Things worked out very well indeed. Now you’re here, you’re all mine, and you’ll never get away. You just don’t know it yet. The perfect time to strike would come, soon, he had a feeling, very soon, he just had to approach it the proper way. With this in mind, the redhead sat up, rising to his feet before moving over to where Sora was sitting. His calm, sane façade was slowly slipping, but it was going to gradually, the brunette probably wouldn’t even notice yet. Not that Axel’s next actions weren’t bound to cause a little concern, at least.
“That’s nice, that you were worried about me,” he said, his voice dropping a bit, to a more sly, seductive tone. “It’s nice, not to be alone.” As he spoke, he shifted to rest one knee on the seat beside Sora. His hands rose to grip the back of the chair, on either side of the boy’s head to steady himself, before lifting his other knee to the other side of Sora. “I’ve been alone so much since…you know.” He had Sora trapped now-there was no place he could go unless he managed to push Axel off of him, and the redhead highly doubted that was going to happen. He lowered himself comfortably, straddling Sora-he’d caught him, just like a wolf cornering a rabbit. Sora was his-or at least, he would be soon, Axel would make sure it was obvious.

Sora doesn't notice anything wrong. No, not at all. He just smiles, tilting his head and laughing a bit sheepishly--right up until the very sudden, very creepy shift in voice and tone from the redhead. Innocent blue eyes open wide and he stares up at Axel. The brunette tenses visibly as Axel places one knee on the chair, grips the back of it, then brings his other knee up.
"A-Axel...? ...Wh... What're you... D-Doing...?" he asks, that nagging voice in the back of his head screaming about how he needs to get out of this, even as Axel lowers himself to straddle the poor boy. Yeah, definitely mentally freaking out now, he's stuck. And very, very nervous.

A wicked grin curved his pale lips as he rested his arms on Sora’s shoulders, tangling his long fingers in the back of the brunette’s hair. “What am I doing?” he repeated, a low purr creeping into his voice, “What does it look like I’m doing?” With that, he ducked his head, pressing his lips against the side of the boy’s neck in a brief, gentle kiss.
It was so nice to be able to stop pretending, to not have to act so welcoming and friendly. You’d think he’d at least feel some sort of satisfaction, knowing that he had Sora right where he wanted him, but there was…nothing. Nothing but a sick, hollow feeling in Axel’s chest, a feeling that cut off all other emotions right now. No, he didn’t feel joy, or satisfaction, but there was some sort of dark thrill, knowing what he did about things that were still yet to happen.
