personally i liked all the games. though i must admit half way through the 1st level of Ocarina of Time i switched around the av jacks and plugged up my play station so i could listen to music because that faerie was ANNOYING! lol

A fairy was used, yes. That's because Link knows his fairies. But Navi herself has yet to return.

Yes, she has not returned.
in Majora's mask, you get Tatl, who is a little more gentle when she reminds you of your quest when she does a little jingle, which is less annoying than " Hey, Listen!"
In Windwaker, there is no faerie. You get a talking boat.
In Phantom Hour glass, you get three faeries total, and they are actually useful, especially The one of courage because she helps you attack from a distance. But you have to collect ten of the courage gems.
In Twilight princess, yes, a faerie is the cursor for the wii, but on the gamecube version you don't get it. But you do get midna, who is awesome and very useful. And she's cute. At least, I think she is.
So in truth, to the relief of our sanity and our hearing, Navi does not come back.
