(( augh. Any RED is welcome to join in, unless something else happens. OH GOD THE WATER FILTER IN MY HOUSE SOUNDS EVIL. Dx ))

Jeff was actually -walking- the hallways of R.E.D. base today. After almost wiping out on a surprise stairway, he decided that he'd better get to learn the base by foot instead of by his skates first. The large purple bruise on his lower back throbbed. It hurt less today than it had yesterday, and he really didn't feel like bothering the Medic. In fact, he considered it to be rude to disrupt the doc unless it was an emergency. Besides, it's not like you can get issues from a bruise, that would be retarded.

His train of thought was interrupted as he walked into a ladder, his forehead bonking off of the fifth rung up.
"Mother ********." He groaned, stepping back and rubbing his forehead. OW. Ok, no more thinking and walking.
He really needed to pay more attention. Suddenly he realized that he'd just walked into a /ladder/ and what the ********? A ladder in the middle of a hallway? He groaned, and looked up to where the ladder was going. A wooden hatch in the ceiling, almost like an attic of some sort.
Curiosity got the better of him, and he started up the ladder.

Waking up at the crack of noon, Karlii had decided to make her best of a day off, doing a little organizing up in the Sniper nest, where she practically lived. Grabbing some jerky and Setting up an old record player, she pulled out a large black record and placed it on. After fighting them up the ladder, she pulled the several metal cases before her. Only halfway through her kit, she tossed it aside to catch a few zees to the sounds of 2-Tone horns.

Reaching the top of the ladder, Jeff could hear music. Well, someone was up there, at least.

And then he realized that he hadn't seen anyone all day. He'd been late to breakfast, and past that he'd been wandering around. He knocked tentatively, and after about five minutes, he tested the trap door. It creaked open like a creepy old door from a horror film, and Jeff felt goosebumps trail up his arms.

"Hello?" He called, peeking into the room above. It must be the sniper's nest, the way the boxes were all arranged, and everything. He felt odd, half looking around, half hanging from the ceiling. Shoving the door open all the way, he took another step up into the room, just to look around.

A voice snapped her out of her light sleep. She jerked up, only registering a red shirt. BLU would have to be fun-hating pricks to attack on an off day.
"Oi." she responded in a half groan. "How long was I out?"

Jeff frowned, and tilted his head. "Dunno, coulda' been hours. Can I come up?" He asked, remembering that one time he'd forgotten to ask permission to come into a room. It had resulted in several forks embedded in the wall around him, and a spoon that almost put his eye out.
He didn't wait for her to answer, just sorta pulled himself the rest of the way up and closed the hatch. He sat next to it, cross-legged.
"....So you're the sniper?" He asked, absently. In the back of his mind, an inner voice went 'A-DURRRRRRR'

((oh god it's 2:24 am here. x___x I shall return in six or so hours. ))

[[Yeah, same. I'll be around later today.]]

"Yeah, sure. You weren't disturbing anything important." she gave a small laugh. "Yup, I'm the Sniper, well, one of them at least." she gestured to the crates. "'Cause some of that kit's not mine, and I know my kit. Jerky?" she held out a bag.

"M'tha Hall Monitor." Jeff said, leaning over and reaching into the bag, grabbing a strip of jerky.
"Well.. Technically I'm a scout, but I ain't very fast without my skates on, so I stay inna base." He said, sticking the jerky in his mouth and chewing it.
"'Stuff's good." he said, before realizing he'd forgotten to introduce himself.
"M'names Jeffry. You kin' call me Jeff, Jeffy, Jiffy, Jay, or anything else, really." He said, scratching at the side of his head idly.

He suddenly wondered how many snipers they'd be getting...

"Nice to meetcha. Karlii, but most folks just call me Kar. So you're the guy that stands between me and a the other guy, huh? Well I guess it's prime time for us to get to know each other." she gave a small laugh, kicking the box with other Sniper's kit aside. and pulling over a a worn box of records.

"Karli, huh? Cool name. Cooler than mine." Jeff said, shrugging. Oh well. At least she wasn't a creep, or anything.
"Yeah, I'm that guy." He said, giving her a cheesy smile and a double thumbs-up.
He'd already got his own kit, and had stashed it somewhere in the room that he was supposed to share with the Pyro and the other Scout (When he arrived. His crap was already piled neatly in his corner of the room, courtesy of Pyro /or so Jeff guessed/)
He'd brought about two boxes of his own junk with him, so in all reality he wasn't sure what all he'd use from the scout-kit besides the shirt, headset, and socks... Baseball wasn't really his thing, but the bat had a nice heft to it, so he figured 'what the hell?'. It was suprisingly easy to swing the bat while he was zipping through the halls on his skates.
"So, where'ya from, Kar?" He asked, leaning forward to rub at his knees. They felt oddly bare without his knee pads on...

She flipped though the records, picking up one or two to examine. "Alot of places, I suppose. My family never was one to stay in one place." she paused, thinking. "But the longest place I've stayed put was Brazil. I was born in Manaus, didn't leave the country until I was six or seven. I grew up right near the jungle, it was kind of cool." She smiled at an old memory.

"Cool. I've never really been outta the United States. 'Cept for that one time I went into Canada.." Jeff said, thinking. "Been all up the East coast though." He said, shrugging.
"Did you see any of those.. Giant flowers in the jungle? Do they really eat people?" He asked, leaning forward. He'd heard alot of stuff about the Jungle, the Amazon or whatever it was. He recalled reading somewhere that there were giant man-eating flowers. Kind of reminded him of that one movie with that talking plant...

"Nah. Small animals and birds, but not people. But there's others out there to make up for it. Believe me." she found the record she wanted and put it on. "So, how's it on the east coast? I haven't been to the States much, I've only hit the west coast. They've got some righteous waves." She said the last two words in a mock surfer accent.

"Eh, East Side isn't much. Between the cold, wet winters and hot, humid summers, there isn't much. We do have hockey, hot dogs, apple pie and roller derby." He said, grinning. "Aside from that, there's the penny arcades and the casinos in Atlantic City." He continued, trying to think of anything else that he'd missed.
"Besides that, there isn't much. As you go further away from the shore, it turns into country and bluegrass. Big cattle farms, orchards.." He said, waving a hand dismissively.
"The country is fine, but the derby girls from there cheat like crazy." He said, sighing.
PostPosted: Wed Nov 04, 2009 12:00 pm

"Roller derby?" she asked, picking up a cloth and polishing up a scope. She might as well finish what she set out to do. Maybe she'd be nice and clean the other's gear, maybe.

"Best thing ever created. It's one part combat sport, one part rollerskates, and one part racing." Jeff said, grinning.
"Originally it was sort of a girls only sport, but I was the fastest one to try out, and technically the rules don't say anything about guys not participating.." He said, shrugging. "Anyways, it's a pretty fun sport, even if it's frowned upon by the majority of white-collar workers and such." He said, frowning.
"Rules are simple, no illegal moves, no brass knuckles, no spikes, wear proper gear, and if you're under 18 ya gotta get a parent to sign for ya, since the whole thing is a bash." He said, unfolding his legs. "Anyways, there's plenty of fighting, and a little bit of strategy. Our coach was really weird, but had genius plays, so we usually won. Unless the country gals came in. Then I would avoid the rink and stay hunkered down in someone's apartment until their tour in our area was up." He said, shrugging.
"I never understood why they disliked me so much.... So, what kinds of stuff do ya do in Brazil?" He asked, leaning forward.
