I was just wondering if anyone has ever notice how X the tv series and X/1999 talk about religion a little. Take Karen Kasumi it shows her praying in a church and how she says a bible verse but I forgot what it was. On one website I went to the person who made it said that the story revolves around revelations which I find really interesting. Come on in and chat and let me know what your opinion is.

Yep yep, the revalations does discuss the end of the world, but X is not solely based upon that. In the revalations, I believe that it mentions the good being taken up to heaven, and the rest left to endure suffering for a number of years before the coming of "god". (quotations used in case anyone has religious issues)

I know that CLAMP is fairly well-read, and they draw info for their stories from religion. The shinken have hebrew engravings on them, representing Judaism. Many of the Seals and Harbringers were Shinto or buddhist priests, among other things. And Kotori dies on a cross, representing Christianity. Even the pentagram is a symbol of a so-called-cult religion. Karen's being religious really has nothing to do with anything, except that it gave her an interesting past, being seen as satanic by her own mother. Has anyone else seen other symbols?
This is an interesting thread... I didn't really think about a lot of this until now. Awesome! cool

What I have noticed is that the symbol for the seven angels is a candellabra I hope I spelled that right. And you are correct about how the seven angels and seven seals do have buddist priest and priestesses I fiind that really cool too. I think that Karens mother was horrible to her because she mistakend her daughters powers as wicked from satan when her powers can be from god too. Does anyone know what subaru's religion is because I have always wondered for some reason. I am glad that you like my topic that makes me very happy.

I think Subaru is a member of the shinto religion... I think onmyouji tend to be of that background... He could quite possibly be agnostic. I mean, does the heir to the Sakurazukamori, killer of all that live, have a religion? sweatdrop

I would assume that he was a member of the Shinto religion. In one of the books they talk about why the cherry blossoms are so red, and that led me to believe that more.

I would assume that most people who kill senselessly are in violation of their religion, and would therefore not have one... Hmm.

That could be a possibility as well. sweatdrop

I agree that Seishirou probably doesn't have a religion or that he is obviously not an active member.

Seishirou is probably in violation of any religion, it's just that based on what I've read about Shintoism it's so embedded into their society that they don't even notice it. sweatdrop

Seishirou may not be the only person who doesn't have a religion. What about Kusanagi, Satsuki, Nataku, or any other Angels? It didn't show anything that show religious or things that would symbolize their religions except for Fuuma's religion and the symbol that represent the Angels.

True... the Chi no Ryu were probably all in violation of whatever religion they were born under, and the obviously didn't practice. sweatdrop I totally overlooked that!

Very true. Kusanagi kind of reminded me of some Neo-Pagan religions though just some of his beliefs about animals and such. It doesn't mean he's part of that religion but that's what it seems to feel like to me.

I dont mean to sound weird but what exactly is neo-pagen? I havent heard of that religion before. For some reason I could see Nekoi the one with the spirit dog being a buddist or hindu what do you guys think.

Neo-pagan is a religion where people believe about sprites, fairies, and gods that involve with nature and animals. For example, the Greek and Roman gods are pagan since their powers involve with nature such as Vulcan, god of fire and Apollo the god of sun. As for Nekoi, I think she is a buddist since she came from the temple and there was a short manga script of her asking the monks about people couldn't see her spirited dog. However, I think the question we like to know is what is Satsuki's religion.
